If you've been dying to see more of Dragon's Dogma 2 after Capcom's official gameplay presentation, you're in luck — a lot of luck. There's now uncut gameplay footage coming out of Tokyo Game Show, with Japanese publications V Jump and IGN Japan each posting ten-minute captures of the action RPG running on PS5.
Regular readers will already know this, but we think Dragon's Dogma 2 is looking fantastic. It's obviously not much of a departure from the first game, but we feel like that's to be expected. Capcom struck gold with the original's combat system, and we're just eager to see how the sequel builds upon what's already there.
These demonstrations give us a better look at the starting classes, which includes Fighter, Thief, Mage, and Archer. There are plenty of smaller gameplay details to spot if you're already familiar with the previous instalment, and overall, we can see this being a blast to actually play.
How do you think Dragon's Dogma 2 is shaping up? Patiently wait for a release window in the comments section below.

I don't know if I'm watching it low res but it doesn't look too much of a step up in graphics from the Dark Arisen PS4 remaster. I would go as far as saying this could run on the PS4 easily. l will probably re watch it later tonight on the PS5 and prove myself wrong lol
Still one of my most anticipated games for next year though and yet another great game to add the list for next year, 2024 is looking like the year of the JRPG's.
N.i.c.e.dragon dogma 2 looks amazing.im definitely going to play as a mage again.the magic is so good in Dragon dogma dark arisen.word up son
@UltimateOtaku91 I think you might be remembering the first game through rose tinted glasses. I do agree that this does look like it could run on PS4 though, but so could their other RE Engine powered games and they still look amazing.
@UltimateOtaku91 Funnily enough I was thinking the same after Capcom's presentation yesterday, so I went and looked up some gameplay from the PS4 version of Dark Arisen.
Honestly, I had forgotten how rough that game could look. The art direction is still great, but trust me, it looks pretty damn old compared to this DD2 footage. I agree it's nothing amazing, but I also agree with @Bentleyma in that this will still look great when it comes out.
@UltimateOtaku91 I noticed it right away as well in every bit we've seen from it so far. Graphically it is very underwhelming. Specifically, the environments, whereas the character models look better than dark arisen, the actual environments, and draw distances are damn close to that with very early ps4 level of texture quality and detail.
Here's hoping that at least the game improves where it should have and just isn't a like for like iteration trying to cash in on the long festering demand for a sequel and thus keeping the shortcomings from a game of that time. It does look a great deal better than arisen lol in reality. I do wonder when development started on this and whether or not the locations are reused and/or it sat in early development for a long time, and that's why it looks dated. Combat animations look far better though!
Looking forward to seeing more.
@Bentleyma @ShogunRok Yeah it has been a long time since I booted up Dark Arisen, Just re watched the showcase trailer and the character models look way better but the environment is still giving me last gen vibes. I'm sure by the time it comes out and running in 4K it will look beautiful.
@UltimateOtaku91 I had that thought as a first reaction when watching the presentation too and then pretty much had the same line of thought as @ShogunRok. I had to look up gameplay of both the original and Dark Arisen to remind myself how they looked for comparison.
The more I think about the original on PS3/360 the more I remember thinking that it even looked rough when it first launched. An absolutely amazing experience, but it always looked a little rough.
Go to the 1min 40second mark in the top video above. That's a big improvement over the original. It might not hold up against the landscapes in something like Horizon, but it's still pretty good and a vast improvement over Dark Arisen on PS4 too.
@KundaliniRising333 It certainly does feel weird to how quickly this game got announced to being where it is now and look like a 2024 release. They must of been cooking this up for many years so maybe started on an outdated engine and maybe was originally in development for the PlayStation 4. I definitely don't think this game has been rushed.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yah it has likely just been in the oven for a long time. Here's hoping it's an awesome evolution of the cult classic that was the first one.
Very excited for this one and I've gone back to play the original (for the first time) to see where it all began, it's fn ugly and fn fantastic! 🤣
I agree, it doesn't look anything amazing, but when DD came out it didn't either. People love it for other reasons - it was fun as hell and this one already looks no different.
@UltimateOtaku91 Capcom must have started working on it after shipping Devil May Cry 5.
Itsuno said way back that Capcom have him the choice between making DMC5 or DD2 and he chose the former but said he would work on DD2 next. When development actually started only Capcom knows.
Forgot about this! Haven't seen it yet, going to make a cup of tea and put it on the telly.
Im liking what I see a lot and this is one of my most wanted.
I have no trouble at all with the level of fidelity on show here, bearing in mind theres likely to be some improvement before release.
