FromSoftware may have a long history dating all the way back to 1994’s King’s Field on the PS1, but it’s become an industry darling in more recent years. The veteran developer has unexpectedly discovered mainstream success with titles like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, and even the sixth instalment in its formerly niche mecha series Armored Core attracted significant success earlier this year.
Now, according to IGN Japan, the Tokyo-based team is hosting a “massive recruitment” drive as it seeks to bolster its studio for “multiple new projects”. Among the listings, it’s looking for engineers, artists, programmers, sound designers, PR representatives, and much more; essentially every role associated with game development you can think of is mentioned here.
Those interested are invited to register ahead of 30th November, with a selection of online briefings scheduled for December. With multiple webinars planned, expected to outline the exact specifics of each role, it’s possible we may learn more about what the developer has got planned. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if it announced a couple of new in-production projects to help with recruitment.
We know that the developer is working on an expansion for Elden Ring, but it’s likely this is nearing completion now. Beyond that, though, with the aforementioned Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon already out, it looks like it’ll be turning its attention to its next big things. Any bets for what it’ll be working on? At this point, you’d be foolish to bet against Elden Ring 2, right?

A bit like Dark Souls was a multiplatform extension of the PS Exclusive Demon's Souls I'm hoping they're working on a Gothic/Eldritch Horror game to supplant Metal Ge.... Bloodborne.
But... but... What I really want is a game where the world isn't already ruined and in decay, maybe it ends that way but at least at the start I'd like to enter a village and be greeting with a 'Inn's down that way, Adventurer!' before the Estus hits the Poison Swamp!
Regardless of what these upcoming games are, given FromSoft's track record in the last 15 years, you know these games are going to be incredibly well polished and they're going to absolutely slap.
They've been making multiple projects simultaneously in the past. Bloodborne and DS2, Elden Ring and Armoured Core VI. So is this a scaling up to 3 teams or just expanding the current 2 they have.
Let me guess, these games will be just like the other games. Basically the same feel, combat, progression systems, art style (for the most part) and play. People say that COD releases the same game every time but Sould stuff is really just a reskinned version of the last one now. Sekiro was the best thing to happen to them in a while.
@KAIRU
Well their games isnt that polished in start and they are not best at fixing things either.
If its going to be more souls style games please use the unreal5 engine. Lords of the fallen is incredible looking and i can only imagine what elden ring would have looked like using that instead of their old,old janky engine..
I'll support any game of them because Souls is my favorite franchise right now. I love the AC6 that surpasses all my expectations. I enjoyed older AC games but AC6 improved all aspects from gameplay, art design and music. It was a refreshing game that I could not stop playing for months.
I wish they would give VR another go. Deracine was OK but it was a much smaller project. A big AAA VR Souls game would be a dream come true for me.
Just a few hours ago I finished my first souls game - Demon’s Souls remake. I really liked it. Elden Ring 2 would be nice. I probably have just enough time to start and finish ER1 before 2 releases 😂
@Jammsbro Armored Core 6 only came out 2 months ago. From took a big risk when the mech genre was practically dead before then. No other large studio would take such a chance.
@Perturbator interesting. I'd be worried about the difficulty. I've finished every souls game but I like to play re7 and 8 in vr on easy.
I'm going to make this very clear; and im only going to do it once- im drunk
@DonkeyFantasy “when you die to a boss it will mostly spawn you right outside their area“ I think you sold me on the game because the most frustrating thing for me in Demon’s Souls was repeating the the run up to one of the last bosses 😆
@LordAinsley I completed RE7 VR on madhouse difficulty and it wasn't too bad apart from in the barn when the 2 giants come down the elevator.
I guess the difficulty in translating a Souls game to VR would be how the bigger and slower type weapons would translate to motion controls. Sekiro might make for a better option where you just have one main weapon but a lot of optional gadgets like bombs and shurikens.
Love the souls series,.but more doesn't mean better, in almost every instance (in the gaming platform) a great company goes to medicore and to just plain bad sometimes when.an expansion gets massive and rapid ,Ubisoft says hi....
@Jammsbro Bloodborne is completely different and from what I can tell, AC6 is as well. Even the DS games were different from each entry. Also there isn't one released yearly so CoD is a poor comparison.
N.i.c.e. from software is one of the best publishers ever.more video games by from software is always welcome.word up son
@Uromastryx agreed. I'm happy with the current lineup.
@Uromastryx i agree with you. I loved dark souls 1 and 3 but i cant stand 2. Elden ring is just epic. I really have to give neowiz and hexworks their dues though because lies of p and lords of the fallen are just brilliant games and although they are not perfect the stability and performance of both games make fromsoftware look very dated. Fromsoftware really needs to look at using ue5 moving forwards.
@Northern_munkey haven't played Lies of P yet but I plan too, currently playing Lords of the fallen, I really like it, very close behind Elden ring.
Yeah Fromsoft need to update for their next outing, but if they expand. Some things will get left behind, and souls games can't be half managed, they call to be complex and exciting .
So just now the expansion is worrying
@Uromastryx i'm looking forwards to it but i think lies and lords have spoiled me a lot quality wise but i'll probably still enjoy it.
@Perturbator that's really impressive. I've done re7 on madhouse but I just need a bit more space and time in the vr space when I play.
Best news I've heard in a while.
Good news indeed.
@Jammsbro Really? You're gonna tell me Sekiro, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Demon's Souls have the same art style and combat?
FromSoftware is my Lord and savior. Speaketh into manifestation, new IPs and Unreal5 shall strengthen my Lord’s resolve and provide bountiful joy/stife.
Praise the FromSoftware! 🙌🏼
I hope for a Bloodborne sequel in that "several new projects".
Give the world what it needs: Bloodborne 2, timed to follow up a remake of the original from Bluepoint Games...
New King's Field — please!!!!
I'm happy for them to just continue making new IPs with slight development/tweaks on the soulsborne formula. FromSoftware have positioned themselves in the envious situation where the studio making the game is enough to build hype.
@Nepp67 Sekiro and BB are the most different for sure. Sekiro looks great. BB looks dull. The rest? Minor scalable differences at best in mechanics. EVerything could be interchangeable. It's as if they actually try to copy the othergames.
@Jammsbro Beg to differ, Bloodborne does not look dull at all. It's art style with the combination of the Victorian Era visuals, beasts, and the night look stunning. Especially with how detailed it was at the time with the weaponry and environment, made me appreciate it more compared to DS3.
For the love of God hire some actual technical talent and upgrade/fix your flawed dated engine. Also, maybe pay your employees a living wage and don't force unpaid overtime. Use some of those elden ring profits to actually reward those that made the game and those that bought it. Hey maybe even a slight willingness to address technical issues post launch,.... What a novel concept!
@AshenEmbers Bloodborne definitely stands out from other Fromsoftware titles dont get me wrong....but completely different? It has a different setting, trick weapons, and a distinct lack of shields, and that's about it. It's easier to list off the amount of things different in BB than it is to name all the things that are the same.
Blood Echoes are pretty much Souls, Lamp posts are Bonfires, Bloodstones are Titanite Shards, ect. Even the player stats are largely the same, skill is just dexterity, and strength is well, literally strength. Vitality and Endurance are both named the same and function the exact same as previous titles. The controls are practically identical to Dark Souls, Elden Ring or any other modern Fromsoftware game. And I'm really just skimming the surface here, I'd be here all day if I tried to name every single reused idea in Bloodborne. The point being though that outside of Armored Core and Sekiro, Fromsoftware has been very comfortable using one formula for the past 15 years, and Bloodborne is no exception
@Tchunga Most of the stuff you listed is common everyday RPG elements. Tone, feel, atmosphere, etc is what makes Bloodborne stand out. In fact Bloodborne stood out so much in the community DS3 took combat ideas from it which is really obvious. Also Elden Ring and Sekiro were released after Bloodborne, so that is really a moot point.
@AshenEmbers I never made the claim that Bloodborne copied Elden Ring or Sekrio. Those games released after Bloodborne, that doesn't even make any sense. Who are you arguing with?
@Tchunga I didn't say you did.
@AshenEmbers So what are you saying then exactly, that its a moot point to bring up the fact that practically all Fromsoftware games reuse the same mechanics? Because if so I fundamentally disagree
