Compile Heart, the Japanese dev behind franchises like Hyperdimension Neptunia, is keeping itself busy under its revised management structure, which went into effect on 1st October. Moving forward, the company will be led by industry veterans Naoto Tominaga and Hikaru Yasui, both of whom are committed to continuing the studio’s lineage of niche, otaku experiences.
To underline that commitment, it’s announced a bunch of upcoming titles, including the delivery-themed RPG Todokero! Tatakae! Calamity Angels, which will launch on PS5 and PS4 next summer. “This slapstick-style game will feature voluptuous, cute, and comical characters designed by Kei Nanameda, and story and gameplay that revolves around various personality types like moe and airheads,” an excerpt translated by Gematsu from Famitsu reads.
It’s also working on Touhou Spell Carnival, a combination of bullet hell shooter and tactical gameplay. There are no specific platforms attached to this yet, but it’s pegged for multiple consoles and we strongly suspect PlayStation will be among them. In fact, it sounds like Compile Heart’s overarching strategy is to release on more consoles in general.
The rest of the studio’s lineup is a little more vague, but it’s plotting an unnamed shmup with M2, as well as various Death End Re;Quest titles. And of course, a numbered Neptunia title is also currently in production, with more information to follow at a later date.
That’s a lot to keep the company busy, but it certainly looks like a compelling offering. Is there anything here of interest to you? Compile your heart in the comments section below.

Love the the Death end Request games, so I'm looking forward to that spin off. Can't say the same about the new neptunia game though, at first they were great and unique but now they've out stayed their welcome for me, unless this new game is a massive upgrade visually and gameplay wise, similar to what happened with the last Atelier and Tales of games.
@UltimateOtaku91 As someone who's really unfamiliar with Compile Heart, any games you'd recommend? I'm pretty experienced with my jrpgs but I've yet to play a compile Heart game. I think I've only played two games and they weren't exactly the best😅, Demon Gaze and Dark Rose Valkyrie.
You mention a game called Death end request 👀👀👀👀. Any good?
I tried a lot of their games and the Shop system kept bothering me to hell and back so I gave up on all their games from that point on with that system in it-.-'
@homelesscretin I'd reccomend Death end Request, I'd say they are more mature especially the second game which has some darker topics and some gruesome art for the death scenes. They are also text heavy as well, like 40% visual novel 60% RPG with some choices to make along the way which will lead to a death route (hence the name) if you pick the wrong choice.
The combat is turn based similar to the latest neptunia games where you start a fight and then position your character and then choose three attacks to do, but this time depending on your attacks you can knock the enemy back which sends them flying and if they bump into another enemy it will cause more damage and then also send that other enemy flying, so it's abit strategic to position your attacks to do the most damage you can. The characters can transform into glitch mode where they can deal extra damage and do a special move, and in typical anime fashion these transformations leave them half naked lol.
Also just to let you know in case you do buy it, as the first game didn't really do a good job of explaining it is that if you want the true ending in the first game you have to complete every single side quest.
Heres the trailer to the first game

@homelesscretin yes. play whatever CompileHeart/Idea Factory you can. Janky but fun games
I'd recommend

Appreciate the response😊. Death End Re quest seems pretty intriguing and definitely seems like the type of game you should experience blind. Dragon Star Vanir's gameplay seems a little ehh, but I've seen some people online say the story's pretty good so I'll add that to the wishlist.
And uhhh Neptunia?😅. Seems like the type of game that'll land me in prison if I'll be honest😂. That seems to be their main big franchise. Is that worth checking out or nah? I wanna give it the benefit of the doubt because its just a jrpg trait at this point to have certain aesthetics, but is there actually something worthy of my time or is it just generic weeb stuff?😂
@homelesscretin I legit don't know what generic weeb means 😂
Start with death end request. If it's not a gateway for you, like it was for me, compile heart might not be for you.
@homelesscretin Most of their games are very similar, and all are 7/10 at best imo, and that's being very generous
I'm fine with their strategy but I wish their games were a bit more polished and less janky.
