Insomniac Games has just released a new game update for the popular Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Taking the title to version 1.001.004, the 922 MB patch makes a few more fixes as the developer aims to squash all those pesky bugs.
This patch fixes a variety of issues, such as examples of the player getting stuck, bosses getting stuck, player shortcuts causing problems, and more. It also improves overall stability.
Here are the full patch notes:
- Addressed an issue where players could become stuck during the finale of Marko's Memories
- Addressed an issue where a boss could become stuck in geometry
- Addressed multiple issues where the player could become stuck during the Galvanize tutorial
- Addressed an issue where players with shortcuts enabled could become stuck in a puzzle during the New Threads mission
- Addressed an issue where the Charge Jump would break when assigned to a shortcut
- Addressed an issue where the Upgraded Classic suit had duplicate eye details
- Further addressed issues where models would not load properly after long play sessions
- Improved stability

This is great that Insomniac is releasing bug fixes, but I literally never experienced any of this. This game is not as buggy as some bad actors were trying to portray it as.
My console has been over heating since I purchased Spiderman 2. I bought a fan which helps but still gets quite warm
@theSpectre "i never experienced them so they don't exist"
The only bugs I experienced was subtitles that were behind on the audio and regular enemies stuck behind walls, both not fixed yet I see.
I haven't experienced any issues until last night. It hard crashed my PS5 during a boss fight
@theSpectre Same.
I've seen some minor pathfinding issues when I have to press triangle to interact with something. Spidey spins in a circle like he has OCD before completing the interaction.
It's happened maybe 3 times in 30 hours so far.
Thankfully I've never experienced anything more than that.
I think I had 1 crash on my entire play through! Was fantastic.
I platinumed the game yesterday and the only issues I ran into was a moment where my character and a enemy would randomly intensely glow that only lasted about 5 minutes, then near the very end I had it freeze on a press L1 and another button I forget
for a learned power maybe it was Galvaniz
e as mentioned but a quick reload fixed it,other than that I thoroughly enjoyed it fantastic game.
I had an issue a few days ago where I got stuck in the scenery and couldn’t swing/jump/walk out of it so had to reload my last checkpoint 🙄 I imagine it’s been sorted now
@Smackadack have you tried taking off the console covers and trying to remove dust from the vents and fan. I found it makes a huge difference and worth doing if you havent done it for a year
Platinumed ready for new game + and potential story expansions. Finished the entire game with no bugs or crashes at all
Aah I wonder if the finale of Marko's memory is where you had to L1+R1 through a narrow hole - it took me ages to get that to trigger properly for me! Interestingly I've only had a couple of issues during my playthrough, and they both seem to be while dealing with that sandy git; I wonder if it's all the particle effects
I had no problems with Spider-man at all. It's flawless as always with Sony games as far as technical state is concerned
Had no issues with this game all the way through to the end then in the final scene Miles whole body had dissapeared and his head was just floating then when it drops you back in to the game my charactwr was just a small white cube. Was quite funny to just swing round the city as a sugar cube for a while lol. A reset sorted it out tho.
"Addressed multiple issues where the player could become stuck during the Galvanize tutorial"
Further addressed issues where 'models would "not load properly after long play sessions'"
I have experienced very few bugs and I am near the end of the game, but I was hit with both of these in my last play session. Restarting the checkpoint fixed the former, but it took closing the game to fix the latter. I'm glad to see them addressed.
I’ve had some minor bugs so far.. the game has crashed twice.. the game has ‘frozen’ like 6 times when an action sequence starts and it says
“Hit: L1 + O” before moving on but I have to exit and start the game back up 4 times before finally doing it.. my cape has morphed through my torso during cutscenes.. Peters bicycle has glitched through the ground after a tiny ramp and was unable to move (exit and start up game again).. a tire from a truck I stopped and flipped over landed on a couple trash bags and they didn’t change shape (that’s just me being picky - maybe the NPC threw away anvils lol)
Still a 10/10 I’m about to do the last mission and finish up
I had a game breaking glitch during the end fight on the ship transporting whosit to wheresit . The main baddie was just stuck on the floor and I couldn’t fight her to finish her off lol. Checkpoint restart it was sorted
@theSpectre I'm exactly the same great work from the Devs but I've not had any bugs issues
It didn’t fix miles daft punk mask missing the ray tracing like it had in MSM:MM sadly. #ShinyMaskDowngradeGate
I experienced my first bug in the game yesterday night , got stuck and I had to reboot the game. Well nothing alarming, still enjoying this incredible sequel!
Would love an option to turn turn off the boss health bar. It has no place in this game and it's distracting.
In Spider-Man 2 on PS5 when I’m chasing Lizard through the city, suddenly I see that Lizard is stuck inside a building.
I restarted from the previous checkpoint and replayed the whole part but it happened again when I got to the part again.
Any idea how I can get this fixed?
I experienced multiple issues, including two crashes and two instances where I had to reset from the previous checkpoint in order to advance. That said the previous game I’d played was Cyberpunk 2077 so it was still a polished walk in the park.
