It’s been a while since we heard word of Bloober Team’s obscenely pretty PS5 exclusive Silent Hill 2 remake, but it looks like there could be more revisits to the eponymous New England suburb on the way. Speaking in an earnings call, and ambitiously picked up around the web, Konami said that it has multiple “remakes” on the way – plural.
“We are working diligently on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which faithfully recreates the story, characters, and game design of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved entries in the Metal Gear series, and updates its graphical style to modern graphics for the current generation, as well as remakes and completely new entries in the Silent Hill series, which gained popularity as a psychological horror game,” a publisher spokesperson said, as reported by VGC.
Now it’s perfectly possible this could have just been a slip of the tongue, especially considering the overall structure of the sentence above. But if Silent Hill 2 turns out to be commercially successful, we could see Konami remaking its PS2 successor, Silent Hill 3, as well. And, to be honest, it’d be cool to revisit the original PS1 game as well, which is a little bit dated these days.

I'd be fine if only 2 gets remade, but wouldn't mind 1, 3 and the room either. Most of all I'd want a P.T. revival with Kojima and Del Toro back on board, but that's enough wishful thinking for today.
After the whole mess with losing the games in the first place, I think that remaking the whole lot is probably in their plans. Gives em games to remaster later on rather than trying to decompile retail copies of the originals again.
I would be excited at the prospect of more Silent Hill remakes, however the MGS collection having an underwhelming reception, so little of Silent Hill 2 remake being shown since the reveal and Silent Hill Ascension appearing to be worse than terrible I have lost some faith in Konami doing their flagship series' justice in the future. Agree with SH1 & 3 remakes would be welcome, if they're done well
Remake Silent Hill, however changing nothing but the visuals (HD graphics). Keep animations, gameplay etc the same.
@AndyKazama i mean they were both really dated , esp the game play. why wouldn't you change it? it would be like remaking resident evil with tank controls.
@tameshiyaku i think you mean silent hlls , pt was just a tech demo that wasn't even really a game , while silent hills was the actual game. sadly we'll never really know what the final game was going to be like with norman as the main character.
@twitchtvpat because I have zero issues with how Silent Hill plays. I prefer tank controls for survival horror over what RE1 remake implemented (thank goodness the dpad was configured the way it was )
A remake of the original would be appreciated. I preferred that to the sequel as I enjoyed 2 but the bit with the boat really annoyed me at the time.
If Bloober Team remain involved none of them
With Blooper team making the remake of the 2nd one and the horrible mess that is Ascension I would prefer that they wouldn't teach them at all.
Definitely sounds like they meant Silent Hill remakes plural, as well as new entries.
The more Silent Hill games available to play, the better as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to see 1 and 3 remade, as well as Origins, The Room etc.
It's a series I really miss.
I love this, but hopefully they don't somehow ruin it. If it comes out good then I'll keep praying for them to remake the first one and then the rest. And if they do like Dead Space 3, who r planning to remaking (more like fixing) the atrocious ones that come out later, then even better.
Ps: btw by "atrocious ones" I mean those that come after SH4
We'll see how this remake turns out, but I'd really rather just have a competent HD collection.
So, one with fog and without signs written in Comic Sans.
@AndyKazama @twitchtvpat
REmake on GameCube had tank controls lol
@Ralizah yep. Remake HD had those Alt controls, when using dpad it was tank instead. Which is what I used.
Not through Konami, they are just a garbage dump of an entity now. If the effort put into the MGS collection, and what looks to be corners cut with the MGS 3 "remake," is any indication of what's to come, just let the cult classics be.
Stick to your predatory mobile slot machines apps Konami.
Now if they continue to outsource, then maybe, but still remember these low-grade studios that specialize in 'remasterakes' often do the bare minimum and use automated processes like AI to try and churn out a cash grab with as little capital investment as possible at the behest of the IP holder who commissioned the project under such parameters. However, bloober is an actual dev and maybe this one will generate enough praise to garner such investment in other titles.
@AndyKazama Yep. I believe those were added in the HD version. GC was tank only, but I guess that wouldn't fly for Capcom on modern consoles.
Let's see how the SH2 Remake fares before Konami starts jumping the gun. We have no idea how this remake will be.
I owned SH1 as a kid and only rented SH2. Both scared the heck out me, but never went any further into the library (which I probably should). Really excited for the SH2 remake to get to play it again. Trying to play SH1 today makes my eyes wanna bleed….I feel like it would benefit the most from a remake. some of those 5th generation titles really suffer visually nowadays. It is such a classic horror game!
@AndyKazama I somewhat recently played through ‘Tormented Souls’ and thought it captured the old school survival horror genre brilliantly. If you haven’t played it already, I’d highly recommend it if you’re craving that authentic experience.
@Jimmer-jammer fantastic game. They did tank controls so well. More games like this.
I wouldn't mind more Castlevania remakes or remasters too.
still don't understand why they didn't start with sh1. this whole remake movement has gotten stale in either case. probably best to temper expectations for any konami project at this point.
@twitchtvpat I know, however, everyone knows the project more as PT, rather than whatever confusing naming conventions they use for reboots/sequels.
Can Konami fix its horrid reputation and bring us the Silent Hill games we want? I hope so..
@PixelDragon hard to say. i think people would appreciate starting with the first game since it is arguably in greater need of a remake considering its original platform and graphics. silent hill 2 still looks good on a CRT or while using an upscaler — better than silent hill 1 does anyways.
but my greatest concern is that if sh2 remake bombs and is crucified to the moon and back (the possibility of that happening is higher than i'd like), konami may cancel its future plans. they are not off to a good start.
