The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has disappointed some players because it technically doesn’t have a Platinum Trophy on the PS5. In an unusual move, its gongs have been added as DLC to last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which means there’s no way for developer Sledgehammer Games to add PlayStation’s most prestigious pot. Awkwardly, the PS4 version does have a Platinum.
While this may be frustrating, hands-on reports on Reddit reveal that the campaign has gyro aiming with the DualSense this time out. Previous releases had added the motion-controlled input method to multiplayer modes, but it had remained conspicuously absent from the single player story. This is, refreshingly, no longer the case.
For those who don’t know, gyro aiming effectively allows you to finetune your crosshairs by physically tilting your controller in your hand. The PS5 has pretty good motion control technology built into it, so this provides a surprising amount of additional accuracy – comparable with, say, a mouse pointer when you’re playing on PC.

Gyro aiming should be mandatory for every game. They should put this in on system basis. You could turn it off for each game if you want but it should be there.
So if MW3 shows up as DLC for MW2 on PS5, does this mean you'll need to look at MW2 in the PSN store to find future DLC for MW3?
Shame that despite this, its possibly got the worst campaign in COD history.
@Jacko11 Nah, Ww2 and Vanguard are definitely worse
So the theory MW3 is DLC to MW2 looks true then, this more or less confirms that. £69.99 DLC pack 🤫
@Nepp67 tbh its those that are probs bottom 3 😂😂 Cold War was bad too
@Nepp67 I don’t know about that man. This game campaign uses the warzone map for missions and like 4 hours long. It’s like they wrote half a script and forgot to finish it.
@Darth_Stofi Yup.
If PS5 had mandated gyro aiming support for games that involve... well, aiming, I'd probably already have one. Not even joking.
I know some people are stubborn and insist it's a gimmick, but I'm sure the first typewriters were dismissed as gimmicks as well. Twin stick + adjustable gyro aim is, far and away, the most accurate control method when using a controller.
It’s gonna be great for the full 3 hours that the camping lasts lmao
Not sure how gyro controls are supposed to make up for no platinum? Strange article.
How nice is this a €70 game that is a basically a DLC pack, with monetization and ofcourse a expensive edition plus a launcher on a disc.
And people complain that games are expensive let's be real here gamers deserve to get screwed over. 😆
That'll be because it was originally going to be an expansion for MW2 before the greed merchants at Activision decided to make it a stand-alone game.
@NeonPizza When people hear "motion controls," I think they picture the worst of the Wii/Kinect, with people flailing their hands around. When, in reality, gyro uses your wrists as a more precise extension of your thumbs on the controller, allowing them to work in concert to achieve... not mouse-like precision, but damn close after some familiarity.
With VR, I think you need a big company to make it both accessible price-wise and attractive in terms of software. Nintendo could absolutely do it, although I don't think they've shown a willingness to go that direction so far.
