Recently released story-driven shooter RoboCop: Rogue City isn't just a powerful nostalgia trip — it's actually a commercial success, too. Publisher Nacon has announced that the adaptation is its "best ever launch", and although we haven't been given concrete sales numbers, the game racked up 435,000 players in its first two weeks on the market. Not bad at all.
"RoboCop: Rogue City has exceeded our expectations," says Nacon CEO Alain Falc. "We are really proud to have been able to work with the studio Teyon on this game created by and for RoboCop die-hards. We would also like to thank MGM for the trust they placed in us throughout this collaboration, as well as all the players who have contributed to making this release such a great success."
Rogue City got off to a somewhat rocky start in terms of critic reviews, but it quickly found a surprisingly dedicated audience. The title has a clear appreciation for the source material and does its best to evoke the same atmosphere you'll find in the old movies. It's nice to see a heartfelt project do well for itself, especially during such a busy release schedule.

It’s really good. I think the 6/10 that Push Square gave it was a bit harsh.
@DonaldMcRonald I love it.
Imo, you'll love it especially if you were about when the movie was released.
@PenguinLtd yes, I was going to say exactly the same thing! Is it worth full price, or wait for it to come on sale?
@PenguinLtd Absolutely it is.
Hopefully the success may encourage Nacon and the studio to do a few updates! One that I would personally love to see would be a filter added so that the screen looks like Robocops screen view from the movies, not just when you scan items or the environment! Would also love to see a couple of set piece DLCs added for fun, like the drug den with Clarence Boddicker getting launched through windows at the end of the fight in the steel works from the end of the movie! I would absolutely buy that for a Dollar (or $15, that would be DLC I would gladly pay for!!)
I've been watching a streamer that I regularly watch play it, it looks like a fun, goofy time. I'll get it when it drops on price in the future.
@DonaldMcRonald Buy it mate.
It's great gory fun.
@DonaldMcRonald shooting in or from? 🤔😂😂
@Kidfunkadelic83 From when I played it!
Its a really good if flawed game and it looks stunning as well. Really hope the Devs do a Judge Dredd game next.
@Bionic-Spencer The Terminator game they done had solid support so i expect Robocop will as well.
@DonaldMcRonald I watched it at age 9 at a friend's house when I was not supposed to. The violence scared the crap out of me-especially when Murphy gets his injuries. I even had nightmares for a bit.
I watched it again as a teen and it became a movie I really love. My wife is getting me the game for Christmas, and I can't wait to play it!
@DonaldMcRonald 😂😂😂. Ive seen some strange interactive japanese ones on youtube. Was gonna buy one but there quite pricey so thought id just wait for a used one to become available 😬😂
Well deserved too, there isn't another game this year that I've enjoyed playing more than Robocop
Glad to see it did well, hopefully that will mean we get some dlc.
I put 17 hours into it, so well worth the money. Especially enjoyed the later stages when you've upgraded the gun, the kills get really gory then.
Good to hear. Maybe they'll do a proper Rambo or Judge Dredd game next.
That's great news and well deserved. I missed these type of games, they went away after the PS3/PS3 era, these sort've unofficial single player sequels to genre stuff we know and love (e.g. The Warriors, The Thing, Stranglehold, Ghostbusters: The Video Game), it seems like all the throwback IP nowadays is only PvP. Teyon is hitting a good niche with this and Terminator, they obviously have a lot of love for cinema IP, look forward to what they do next.
@Ken_Kaniff Teyon actually tackled a Rambo game in 2014 and it was terrible, but likely it had a lot of budget and production issues they cut their teeth on...they would do great work with a Rambo at present probably. EDIT: man, I just keep thinking now, what these guys could with Stallone's Cobra IP, that would be incredible!
I’d love a cheeky PS5 digital code if anyone has one going please 🙏🏻
You won't see a Judge Dredd game from these guys as Rebellion holds the rights for Joe Dredd as they own all 2000AD characters.
Still can't believe they haven't done a Dredd game yet.
Teyon's Rambo is still a guilty pleasure of mine ("He's just a man, not a god!"). Robocops sales are rightly deserved as well, the game was awesome as was Terminator:Resistance before. Hoping for a fun DLC the likes of Annihilation Line.
@DonaldMcRonald personally think its great ,but I'm a big fan ,the graphics are great although npcs vary in quality ,but the,world itself looks really good ,my only gripe is Peter wellers voice is a little flat and a bit off ,its a solid 7.5 from me ,with a bit more money it couldve definitely been a 9,heres hoping for more robo in the future.
@ThorsHammer cobra..ha ha not watched that in years ,your the disease and I'm the cure ,so good ha ha
Idk. I think the idea and theory of this game should be cool. But in actuality this should have been 3rd person to see robo movements.. lazily made 1st person... and the movie was edgy this isnt... the game feels generic repetitive and non creative
A lot of people on social media were singing the game's praises so I'm not surprised it had Nacon's best ever launch. I was tempted to get it myself but knew it would take a backseat to Like a Dragon Gaiden and then Super Mario RPG so I'm waiting for a sale.
Definitely getting it on sale. Looks like an 8/10 game
@DonaldMcRonald The guy who got covered in toxic waste was Dr.Romano on ER for years. Every time he was on, all I could think of Robocop!
Please pretty please add a third person perspective then I'll buy. 😀😀😀
@ThorsHammer Yea im familiar with that trash heap, lol. Just like you said, I'm hoping they take another shot at it since they have improved dramatically since.
I'm probably the resident RoboNut on here. Tons of collectibles, favorite movie of all time, etc. I'm on my third play through of Rogue City. Although it's perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, it's my personal GOTY and was well worth the money for the Alex Murphy edition.
I hope we get DLC but I also hope we get a full blown RoboCop: Rogue City sequel. This dev just "gets it."
@KeldorTheCursed as a fellow robofan, I too have a few collectibles mainly neca, do you not think Peter wellers voice is a bit off, and the gun doesn't sound right ,bit more raspy in the movies and the main theme is a bit subdued,maybe I'm being picky ,apart from this they have nailed it ,the attention to detail in the police department is superb, Verhoeven made some true classics,then fu*ked it up with showgirls.
@Mephisto2869 I have a bunch of NECA, MAFEX and a few Hot Toys, too. Nice to see a fellow Robo fan here!
The gun sounds a bit off, but I’m more annoyed that it doesn’t have the distinctive flames shooting out of the sides, lol. Weller’s voice I don’t mind because the man is old. I didn’t expect it to sound exactly the same. It’s close enough for me.
I have nits I could pick, but they don’t detract from the experience for me. I still play RoboCop vs the Terminator on my Sega Genesis from time to time because it’s the last good Robo game, and it came out in 1993! I’m willing to forgive Rogue City a few nits for it being as good as it is. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Besides that, I read somewhere that someone is hoarding the sound library and not licensing it out, so I guess they did what they could with that. From what I understand, this is something that happens from time to time, and it’s a shame.
I really am hoping for a new game plus path.
@Mephisto2869 Verhoeven was back in form with Starship Troopers though (the original), at least.
From the lil bit I played its good I'm thinking of buying it but probably on a sale since I'm trying to crush some backlog games
@EVIL-C you are correct i thought showgirls was after for some reason,probably because I was under the impression,that he would never be allowed behind a camera again😂
Well deserved, best game I have played all year, and I've played a lot of them.
Yeah because unlike 60-80% of other games this was something new, it's what gamers want, not a rehash if last year's game of a damn "remaster" maybe other studio should look at this success story and make some new IP's instead of playing it safe
@Mephisto2869 It's easy to forget, lol. I'm surprised unleashing things like Showgirls onto the world do not qualify as crimes against humanity, lolol! 🤣
@EVIL-C I never imagined that a film with so much sex and nudity, could be one of the most least sexy films ever made 😂
@DonaldMcRonald it’s really really good it does start a little slow, a big update sorted a lot of the bugs definitely worth a buy.
