THQ Nordic has made the decision to delay Alone in the Dark again so studio Pieces Interactive can avoid crunch over the Christmas period. Originally slated for a January release, the PS5 horror reboot will now launch on 20th March 2024.
In a statement, the publisher said "the well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays". The extended development time will be used to "ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community". The game was originally launching in October, but was delayed to January to avoid the busy release schedule that saw the likes of Assassin's Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 release in close proximity.
This new March release date means it faces competition from Dragon's Dogma 2. How do you feel about the delay? Put your thoughts in the comments below.

Game is going to bomb
The demo of this game is a bit rubbish. Hopefully theaon game is much better and its nice to see devs avoiding crunch (although crunch shouldn't be a thing full stop)
I agree chill out over Christmas feet up and relax
@Americansamurai1 not a fan then? Loved the American samurai show and the American ninja shows , don't make em like that no more now is all a emasculated mess. Loved those van damme shows growing up to.
@Mad001 i played the demo they put out and it was pretty terrible.
Alone in the Dark seems like a cursed title. Every reboot they tried has failed, will this be the one to finally break that curse? Probably not.
Iām looking forward to this, but Iām more than happy for them to take all the time they need. January is a packed month for me anyway, release wise!
Honestly I'd take the overtime during the holiday cuz it usually means double time which is a lot of money š° š¤
I'd certainly much rather those working on it enjoy their Christmas instead of working overtime to finish this. But it seems odd that they announced in September that they were delaying from the October launch to miss the chaos of all those releases, yet here we are in December with it seemingly not finished
I can appreciate the company delaying the game to keep the team from crunching over the holiday season. The holidays are stressful enough as is. I wish more companies thought like this.
Take your time. Lord knows there is plenty to play fist half of 2024.
Avoid crunch during Christmas...so crunch in January?
Always good to see a company prioritising their employees' well being, and looking long term.
@diegooliveirafhc
If I had to crunch, Iād rather crunch at a time of the year not meant for family time ya know.
Ooph... they might as well delay it one more month. February/March is savage.
@Americansamurai1 Will it? I don't think they are expecting it to be a breakout hit.
Embracer/THQ games don't have the same ballooning budget other publishers have.
This will be fine selling 1-2 million copies, which is about what Darksiders 3 did.
@Americansamurai1 I've played the original for me it's a welcomed upgrade , I have the original on gog using a keyboard and mouse I can't get my head round and Im a big fan of David harbour lol, hopefully it'll improve for you at release ,have a nice day buddy š
@Nem I don't see it coming close to even selling 1 million.
This game is going to get murdered by all the other amazing titles during the first half of 2024. No one cares about this terrible reboot lol
