And just like that, right at the end of the latest State of Play, Sony has confirmed that it'll be hosting another broadcast next week on the 6th February. It'll be going all-in on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth ahead of its release several weeks later, on the 29th February.
"Square Enix will be sharing new gameplay details, along with exciting news that you won't want to miss," says Sony's director of third party relations Shawne Benson. We wonder what that's all about...
Again, we're not at all far from the launch of Rebirth — and we're actually a point where more gameplay feels like overkill. But we're sure fans will at least want to keep one eye on this next State of Play (even if you avoid the footage itself).

It's great they are pushing this game so hard but I won't be watching this one, I've seen so much of the game already that I'm already sold on getting it day one. My hype levels are already at max, although I'm intrigued by what she meant by a surprise announcement.
DEMO INCOMING!!
Ok demo coming Feb 6th. All I need to know. Not giving Square the opportunity to spoil the game by watching this though.
@Loamy I would imagine this is a much shorter one just focusing on FF yeah. Maybe an immediate demo drop announcement.
@UltimateOtaku91 will be a demo drop if the rumours are true
@danzoEX That is exactly what I was thinking.
Very nice touch at the end, especially after what I thought was a long-winded Kojima homage (DS2 looks great, but goodness that trailer dragged). Gives us fans a bit more to chew before we get hammered with game releases. Solid show overall!
I think the news would be Sony bought Square Enix?
If the exciting news we don't want to miss is anything but announcing a faithful remake it's safe to say I can in fact miss it 😅
I totally called this. Where are those who doubted me?! Show yourselves!!!!
@Enriesto Yeah that was WAAAAY too much Kojima.
@Keyblade-Dan where’s KH4 ):
@danzoEX We’re about two spin-off games and a VR kart racer away from getting that. All of which will be essential to the narrative.
Actually it's news I want to miss
No point watching a SoP dedicated to one single game that launches 3 weeks later imo
I appreciate the fact that they put this in a dedicated State of Play. They could've added it to this one, taking time away from the other games, which would've been a shame as we've seen so much of it already.
I'll probably skip it, not because I'm not interested, but because I know enough and want to see the rest for myself when I'm playing it.
I know this probably will be FF Rebirth exclusive and all which will obviously be great, but since it’s Square Enix, that new Yoko Taro game they teased would have info released early this year wouldn’t go amiss either 😉
Let's go demo they really have to give this to us
