Destiny 2 turns seven years old later this year, launching in 2017 on PS4. Die-hard fans who rolled a dud of a character, like an overly-edgy Awoken or a dorky-looking Exo, will finally be able to change up their character's appearance in an upcoming update, due sometime before June's The Final Shape expansion.
In a blog post, Bungie foreshadowed the much-requested feature in a blog post. Players who began with the original Destiny and imported their character to the sequel have potentially been staring at the same character for a decade, warts and all, and this addition feels well overdue. Bungie sets the scene:
"You created a very edgy Awoken when you were a teenager. Maybe you chose some regrettable markings on your Human's face, or you didn't coordinate the colours of your Exo's mouth and eyes. Or perhaps your character's body type no longer represents who you are. No matter the reason, you'll be able to change your Guardian's look when character customization goes live in an update before the release of The Final Shape."
Players can modify their Guardian without cost as much as they like, within the boundaries of body type, face, hair/head and markings. Origins (Human, Exo, Awoken) can't be changed, however, so you'll have to live with the consequences of that particular decision for eternity.
Will you change your Guardian's look once the associated update goes live? Or have you made a life-long commitment to your character? Let us know in the comments section below.

While neat Bungie has more important problems to deal with than players not being able to recreate their character.
As from their website:
“To change their appearance, Guardians must hunt down Isha Torus in the Tower. From here they will be able to pick up a new series of quests which will grant them ‘image marks’. Players get 10 marks per quest and it costs 200 per edit. To initiate an edit players must also have harvested 500 Fractal Crystals from the game world. This is available on a time limited part of Nightfall Raids from Feb 1 - Feb 13th.”
@RadioHedgeFund Classic Bungie. They could have just released a Fallout 4 style surgery chair for all to use but no.
@RadioHedgeFund haha they could have just made it a menu thing instead in classic bungie style they make it a pointless time wasting grind. I can't believe I gave Deatiny as much time as I did. I'll probably return for the Final Shape and then I'm done forever.
@starbuck2212 @LifeGirl I was being satirical…. 😅
Sounds like something they’d do though!
@RadioHedgeFund lol so easily believable because it is 100% something they'd do.
"Players who began with the original Destiny and imported their character to the sequel have potentially been staring at the same character for a decade"
This is uncharacteristically generous.
Clearly they'll do anything to keep people playing
Still not as good a multiplayer as the last of us factions
