Rebel Wolves, the recently assembled Polish studio that's being spearheaded be ex-CD Projekt Red developers, has revealed the name of its first game: Dawnwalker. Sounds a bit like a Final Fantasy 14 expansion, doesn't it? We've got a nice piece of promotional art to go with the name drop, and it's definitely giving us vampire vibes. Or werewolves. We'll have to wait and see.
The title, which has been confirmed to be a dark fantasy RPG — no surprise given the talent — is now in its alpha phase. However, it's hard to say just how far out Dawnwalker actually is; we're yet to really learn anything about the scope of the project, and it'll probably be a while until we get any concrete details.
Still, there are reasons to keep an eye on this one. Case in point, Rebel Wolves just announced the hiring of Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz as the game's creative director. Previously, Tomaszkiewicz was a lead quest designer on The Witcher 3, and helped shape quests in Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty. He was also game director on the great but overlooked Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
Will you be watching out for Dawnwalker over the coming months and years? Spark some speculation in the comments section below.

Absolutely I’ll be watching out for this game! A dark fantasy RPG is right up my alley. Exciting to see the talent they snagged up as well.
I will be looking forward to this one for sure. CDPR has very quickly become one of my favorite RPG developers in the business so I'm obviously interested in a new studio made up of a lot of former members. Plus a western vampire RPG just sounds like a good time to me.
Ever since they announced the studio I've been wondering what they got cooking.
One to keep an eye on then. I'm curious though, has Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz been the Creative Director from inception and they are just announcing it now or has he just taken over the role from someone else?
Anyway Thronebreaker has an amazing story, it's a shame so few will experience it due to it's card based gameplay.
So a day vampire maybe?
Who else is here cause you thought this was the new FF14 Expansion? 🙋🏽♂️
Watch out for Sony trying to make this second party.
Picture looks like Geralt ate some bad pierogi 😁💩💨💨💨
Any game that delves deep into history, mythology and occult lore with a bunch of action and quality quest design is always going to peak my interest, but I hope there is a few real quality releases of this type before this comes out. Got to keep this one way in the back of the mind until then.
Why did you say vampire... Now I'm hyped...
I want a good vampire game. Please. In 30 years of gaming, just one!
PC release for 2024, PS5 sometime in 2025?
@sanderson72 2024 Release? Given there are hardly any details at this point, that's optimistically ambitious. Announcement news in 1-2 years is more likely.
@MajinKaiser You're probably right. I was more meaning that we we shouldn't get excited about a PS5 (maybe PS6?) release anytime soon.
