Helldivers 2 has three weeks to go until its 8th February launch, and it looks like that date is now a lock — if it wasn't already. After a small scare about a delay has come and gone, the co-op shooter has now officially gone gold, meaning its base code is complete and ready to rock.
The news comes via the game's official social channels:
The game's launch trailer was recently released, offering another quick look at gameplay in the promising bug-blasting title.

Any previews or reviews on the way for this one?
Game would have been a great plus game.
I really like the look of this ,but I hate mp ,wish there was a single player mode ,at least with bots.
@Mephisto2869 I believe there is.
Hope they put out some sort of actual dive into the structure of this one. Weeks away from release and we have seen literally nothing of it aside from micro clips of shooting stuff stitched together into a trailer.
If it was f2p I'd have a look, no one in there right mind should be paying for a live service game considering how many sink without a trace on launch and have the servers yanked in less than a year.
If only I had friends I could play this with.
This game needs open beta or demo .....
I really hate to say it (really, I do!), but it'll be dead inside 12 months... if that. I quite enjoyed the first one for a little while though!
@kyleforrester87 I'm not so sure, the first game had a lot of support for years. Plus Sony really need to show dedication to the live service games they do release because the last thing they need to be doing is setting the expectation that they will close games down after a year.
@AdamNovice I hope so, it would be nice to see.
So admittedly, I haven't been paying too close of attention to this game. But I loved the first one and assumed this would be similar. But there are some obvious changes/improvements here.
Are the missions still like 5-10 min long? That was really cool. Just little bite sized chunks.
Is there a single player option or is it only Multiplayer?
@Juvenlast I'm sure there's technically a campaign that you can finish with bots (as long as they're smart enough). As for length if it's anything like the original game then you're looking at 10 - 20 min rounds, depending on mission type and difficulty.
Can anyone remember when “multiplayer games” were called just that! And everyone didn’t look down on them and call them live service games. Give this game a bloody chance guys it’s not a new title and the og was fabulous!!
Really looking forward to this. Only wish they had a pvp mode along with the killing of the hordes.
$40 doesn’t seem like a bad price though. I need a game besides call of duty to feel that void. Hopefully this will be fun
@BeerIsAwesome
To my knowledge they were bought by Sony last year.
@T-Bone09 @BeerIsAwesome I'm fairly certain that nothing has been officially announced but it wouldn't surprise me if they haven't bought them already or are about too. They would be a good get for Sony since they don't have a studio that makes the kind of games they do.
@AdamNovice Your right, it may have been a story I’ve read and I’ve thought it already happened. I believe Alex Smith on X (Twitter) said that they, Arrowhead Games, were internally part of PlayStation Studios. Not saying that’s a 100% but it wasn’t the first time I’ve heard of it. And yes it would have been a good for Sony in my opinion.
@LazyLombax yeah, or eventually comes to PS Plus Essential in a few months. Feels like all paid games as services do eventually (e.g Aliens Fire Team, Fall Guys, Predator Hunting Ground).
The trailers look interesting, but I’m still not sure what this game is besides shooting. Is it missions with objectives or waves of enemies? Is there a story to play through? It looks fun but the low price makes me question the games replay value.
@Mephisto2869 You can play single player but there will be no AI bots.

@WanderingBullet cool ill buy it then ,cheers
Why is this game being forced hyped so bad?
@ZhuckelDror Because in many peoples opinion the OG was stellar.
@Mtek1lla
I totally agree that the first one was great, spent some pretty hours playing it myself. But the sequel looks nothing like it and more of a generic extraction looter shooter.
Awesome. Cant wait. The first one was great and this looks like more and better.
