SEGA has released the opening movie for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, so if you can't wait until the game launches on Friday, 26th January, to know what a day in the life of a ponytailed Ichiban Kasuga looks like, then we've got you covered.
Infinite Wealth is set three years after the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and follows Ichiban as he searches for his biological mother, Akane, who he believed had died during his youth. This journey will take him to Honolulu, Hawaii, where, just as luck (or fate) would have it, another legendary ex-Tojo Clan member, Kazuma Kiryu, is also searching for Akane.
The game looks seriously sick, and we can't wait to return to Ichiban's larger-than-life world. The switch to turn-based combat might not be for everybody, but the combat system underpinning the action appears to have gotten some serious upgrades. Breaking new grounds in grubby monetization, SEGA has actually put New Game Plus behind a paywall, so if you'd like to help the company achieve its own ambitions of attaining infinite wealth, you can go ahead and pick that one up.
Will you pick up Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, or will you take a principled stand against SEGA's overt attempts at nickel-and-diming players? Let us know in the comments section below.

I was planning to buy it day one but now I'll buy it on sale instead. Too many other games to play anyway, this can wait.

Life-long Yakuza fan, since the first game hit the PS2.
This'll be the first game since Yakuza 3 I won't buy day one to support the studio. I'm not even sure if I'll buy it at all - feeling pretty jaded about the whole thing.
Ive played all the 7 mainline games and after completing 6 the other day and thoroughly enjoying it i pre ordered and paid for IW. After starting LAD the other night, im not sold on it. I do like Ichiban as a lovable goof but the story seems far more tongue in cheek compared to Kiryu sans games. I know all the games have there goofy side but Yakuza could still be a dark, gritty and graphic game. Im on chapter 5 now so maybe i just havnt seen alot of that yet. The combat, whilst i dont mind it i like the real time better and the worst thing ive come across so far is grind. Even on chapter 5 ive had to grind battles and noticed a significant jump to random enemy health and damage output. Im defenately not a fan of games with grind in them.i know this was a complaint of many people and review, especially in the later game so hopefully its been eradicated in IW.

Are there any physical special editions of this? I couldn't find any info and the official Sega site has retail links for physical standard editions only.

Day 1 for me, I feel a bit bad for "supporting" this practice, but I pre-ordered the standard edition only. In the other hand, I think, they provide us a game with tons and tons of content for 70€ instead 80€, like most games this days (spanish price) and if you want NG+ (the bast majority of the fans doesn't do NG+ anyway) you must pay 85€ (with some more content) Idk, It's not cool but not a deal breaker for me. So, Day 1 It is
The NG+ thing is annoying but I'm absolutely still going to play it. I don't really do NG+ very often anyway so I just got the standard edition.
To be fair though Sega is not the first nor will they be the last to do put a mode behind a paywall. I remember Nintendo stuck Master mode (hard mode) behind the season pass for BOTW for example. They've also put other features behind the amibo figures too.
Not trying to defend Sega or anything. Just saying they aren't the first to try this sort of thing.
@Nekomichu Same, I of course don't like that practise but it's not like it affects my first playthrough (obviously)
3 days, let's go!😍
Im more worried about it being grindy than NG+.
Im excited despite the sega greed on new game plus. Im hoping that the digital deluxe upgrade will be available on sale down the line. Itl take ages to complete the first time round anyway
"Seriously sick" 😂
On a separate note, the OCD in me kind of wishes that Sega would rename the previous entries in the series to Like a Dragon so that all my game icons will be together.
Roll on Friday. Proper excited for this.
I still think back to that April Fools teaser from RGG showing turn-based combat and I remember being so intrigued by it.
Lo and behold, we're getting a second game in the franchise with turn-based combat now. It's crazy to think back on it.
