- Rollerdrome (PS5, PS4)
- Steelrising (PS5)

As a massive fan of the Tony Hawks series of games Rollerdrome is probably the highlight for me
Foamstars looks interesting so I'll certainly give that a try
I absolutely hate RPG games though so I'll probably pass on Steelrising
I have a soft spot for Steelrising, I absolutely loved it and it actually was my favorite "Soulslike" (apart from the FS games) until Lies of P came around.
Rollerdrome could be fun. Finished Steelrising, and while not fantastic, it was a decent enough soulslike.
Looks like a decent month. Just what I want to see from PS+ Essential - games that I wouldn't buy but may get round to try.
Steelrising is an amazing game. if you are a soulslike fan and didn't buy it already - it is well worth your monthly sub price.
Cannot say I have ever heard of Steelrising but also just learnt it is soulslike. Not for me
Wanted all three games so it's a fantastic month for me!
I really enjoyed Steelrising. Found it to be an interesting mix between a soulslike and an RPG. Well worth a try for free!
man, i feel for the people that have to do endure a paywall just to play online . what a crap service
One of those months where I already have them (well, apart from Foamstars obvs) some good games for those who didn’t though.
Three games I don’t own, with two that I’m interested in playing. So good week for me.
Finally something in it for me. Steelrising is exactly the kind of game I have a subscription for (until June): a title that speaks to me but was too much of a risk to pay for.
Foamstars has genuinely charmed me.
I was completely uninterested when they revealed it, but now consider my eyebrow raised at the very least.
@ZeD If difficulty was holding you back so far with Soulslikes, this is the one to get into the genre imo. It has a normal and an "easy" mode. Granted, I'm a veteran of the genre but I died only once on normal mode. I would assume the "easy" mode makes it even considerably easier. Maybe give it a shot.
Steelrising was my favourite, @dschons, until I played Lies of P. Both are superb, but LoP is just sublime. In any other year, I think it would easily have won GotY, but in 2023 both Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 had it beat...
Meh
Might give Foamstars a bash
@ZeD I had the same reservations, definitely not into soulslikes, or hard games in general. The thing different about Steelrising is that it has plenty of difficulty settings, including the option to turn off taking damage. So if you have trouble with a boss, you can just give yourself invincibility.
@dschons yeah, that is why I dislike the genre and lack of patience does not help.
Like I really love the world in Lies of P and really want to play it, but it is just too difficult.
Great month for me-I have been wanting to try Rollerdrome and Steel Rising!
I’ll stick to Foamst……..I mean Splatoon, on my Switch. 😃
@Cherip-the-Ripper I think select accounts have discounts starting today
@Impossibilium very interesting indeed
I wanted both Rollerdrome and Steelrising! Great month!
@ZeD I totally get it. Steelrising is definitely different in that regard. Not saying it's a walk in the park and you can just button mash your way through it, but I felt it was very noticeably easier than any other Soulslike. It also has a very well-told story, too (not as cryptic). I think it's worth a look for those that are interested in the genre but scared off by the brutal difficulty of some of the other games. The difficulty in Lies of P vs. Steelrising doesn't even compare, they're a couple of leagues apart. LoP was absolutely brutal for me sometimes as well.
Def will give rollerdrome a try. Steel rising is great but already enjoyed it during release.
Foamstars can go pound sand errrr...
Foam.
Decent enough line up for February but if you are a fan of Japanese games then Plus games this month is probably the last thought in your mind
Excellent month. Don't care about V-Tuber Splatoon, but Rollerdrome and Steelrising are excellent selections.
This is best month in a long time without even considering foamstars. Literally two games I have wanted
@ZeD yh you're right they're offering extra at the same price. Thanks mate
First month without a subscription, so this is the first drop of content I won't be claiming. I don't feel any FOMO.
But it is always nice to read people's excitement when the drop favors their palate.
Don’t sleep on Rollerdrome. It’s wonderful.
For me, I’ll be… trying Foamstars for a bit.
Hate Soulslikes, but based on some of the comments here, it sounds like Steelrising allows you to tweak the difficulty. May give it a go. Definitely going to try Foamstars, and Rollerdrome has been on my radar for awhile, so I’m excited to nab that. All in all, a pretty solid month!
@Cherip-the-Ripper np. Just remembered seeing something on reddit this morning.
I have a soft spot for Spiders games, so I'm looking forward to trying Steelrising, especially after learning it has difficulty settings unlike most Soulslikes. The other two I'll give an obligatory try but don't really have any interest.
Steelrising was a blast and one of my favorite games to play that year. Rollerdrome was also great. So all in all a good month if you have an open mind!
Happy I resisted previously picking up Rollerdrome as it's the only one this month I'll be definitely giving a go.
I'm certainly very curious about Steelrising. I'm always up for a good Soulslike, but worry it just will seem like the store-brand Lies of P... Here's hoping it exceeds my expectations.
Really great month, actually. Was planning to eventually get Rollerdrome and was semi-curious about Steelrising. Foamstars is probably a pass, but the positive buzz has me curious enough to keep it in mind.
Obviously I can't speak fir Foamstars, and Rollerdrome shoud have been free at launch, but this looks like a pretty solid month. I'll vouch for Steelrising as a perfect entry level Souls-like.
Great selection besides Foamstars. I won't even add that to my library.
I probably won't even try Foamstars (no desire to be shot by random teenagers, regardless of the setting). But the other two are great for me - games I wouldn't quite buy, but am intrigued by. Rollerdrome especially; it looks fabulously stylish, but is probably way outside my competence zone.
Steelrising is a really solid Souls-like. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of the genre.
@Ken_Kaniff Foamstars is pretty fun!
@get2sammyb I can tell it's not for me. I'm very picky when it comes to MP games and I definitely won't be investing any precious game time into that even with it being free. To many other great games on my to do list.
Great month for me, I'll actually try all the of these games. My kids are really interested in trying foamstars.
As others have said I probably wouldn't have bought these but they do look interesting enough to give a shot.
It's a solid month with a brand new game aswell.
Rollerdrome I always wanted to give it a go but not enough to purchase as the reviews were great from the people I trust.
Steelrising I do not know about so may aswell give it ago.
Everyone laughed and pushed foamstars to the side but everyone who played it at the preview events all said its actually a solid game. You can't deny its a great move for foamstars giving it away for basically free to millions of players. I'll definitely give it a go.
I’ll give Foamstars a go as could be quite fun.
Rollerdrome is ok, I played the demo and felt like I’d seen the entire game in 10 minute though.
I already own the complete edition of Steelriding but haven't played it yet due to working on my backlog. I was going to buy Rollerdrome PS5 version on sale, if you get both versions PS5 & PS4 that will be even better. I might try Foamstars depending on the platiunm.
Rollerdrome has been in my wishlist for ages so I'm happy with that, and of course I will be playing Foamstars, really enjoyed the beta.
Good month overall.
Definitely checking out Rollerdrome... when I find the time
Cool been wanting to try Steelrising cuz I like the French Revolution but didn't want to pay for it as I'm not sure I'd like a Souls like
Bought Rollerdrome like a month ago, so you're all welcome ðŸ˜
Good month! Excited to play Steelrising was just randomly thinking about that game. Will definitely give Rollerdrome a go too
Aldo don't be put off Steel Rising because of the "Souls like" tag, it has a few accessibility options for the difficulty which can make it as easy as you like even to point where you don't take any damage.
hmmm... maybe Steelrising, but that "soulslike" plague of modern rpgs seems to leave it only in library forever.
Looking forward to Rollerdrome. Didn't pick it up on Game Pass as I prefer Playstation Pads for anything with skating/blading involved so might give this a crack now.
I've had Rollerdrome on my favs for this moment. Good month!
Meh, I’ll pass. Already have Steelrising.
Another mediocre month. Not surprising.
Steelrising is the exact level of game you want to see most months as the free/bonus single player download. It's a game that people might get in a sale for £15-20 and good enough to not be a spit in the face to anyone.
Can't see anyone seriously moaning about the month, it is the kind of month we need to support and hopefully we see more of them. A single player game, a newly featured mulitplayer, and then a more casual/sport/arcade type game as the other.
Rollerdrome is brilliant (easy Platinum by the way)
Not considering an online multiplayer game, but the other two are OK. Not really going to get much value until they add VR games though, given the amount of time I pancake these days. Somewhat regretting re-subscribing.
I'm ready to party, Bubble style!
Hope Extra has a better selection than this....
I'll defo be giving Steelrising a go. Really enjoyed Greedfall.
I remember SteelRising before release, and then I think Lies of P just deleted it from my memory. Turns out its a different game. Will be checking that out.
Oh heck ya, Rollerdrome!
Making Foamstars free is a genius move ngl, wonder if it'll hit splatoon levels of fame! Meh month for me!
Arrrgh!!! I KNEW if I bought Rollerdrome in a sale it would be on PS+
lol (not the end of the world)
One of the better months I can remember out of the last 8 or 9 probably. I've heard great things about Rollerdrome, and Steel Rising is probably worth a try.
Of course, I probably never will get to either of them, since I'm still working through stuff I actually paid for pre-COVID. But at least this month I don't feel insulted, so I'll take it.
Not a bad month. Foamstars launching into PS+ is a good thing for the game. I love Square-Enix and Sony's partnerships.
Thats a good line up.steelrising and rollerdrome are both good games.word up son
@ApostateMage Me too! My PS wrap up says that Greedfall was my third most played game in 2023. I did not see that coming, but I know I really enjoyed it. So I am looking forward to Steel Rising.
Can't reccomend Steelrising highly enough. Fantastic game for any fan of Soulslikes. The DLC for it is absolutely worth the purchase too. GREAT game!!
Definitely excited about rollerdrome. Is steelrising just as punishing as the souls games?
Shockingly bad month 😬
I'm okay with this selection.
Great month. Been tempted by Steelrising for a while, and somehow I never knew Foamstars would be a plus game so that's a nice surprise. Rollerdrome is great too
Roller drone is superb, glad it's going to get a bump in traffic and more recognition.
It's a 0/10 for me. I won't jump just because something is a Soulslike. I see not everyone who played it thinks it's that great.
Not played any of these so I'm happy and looking forward to give them all ago.
More like this please
Steelrising is a really good game and I really enjoyed it. Of all the games that tried to take the crown of best souls like game it was my fave but then lies of p and lords of the fallen dropped and knocked it down a couple of notches. If it could have matched the quality of lies it would have made my choice a lot harder but ultimately the slightly janky controls and last gen graphics just couldn't compete with the powerhouse that is lies of p. Interesting story and good voice acting help and I'm sure that nobody will argue that as a freebie included in the sub this month its the stand out title.
@JohntheRaptor give it a try bud as you can always delete it if you don't like it. It's a very good game.
@LiamCroft: In your review about Steelrising, you mentioned many bugs and glitches. Do you know whether they are fixed in the meantime?
@Max_the_German there are not many I can remember and I played through the entire game about 4 times.
At the risk of triggering some fanheads with Splatoon parallels again, does Foamstars have a single player campaign? Otherwise, Rollerdrome will probably be the only February headturner for me. Steelrising sounds pretty cool, but not the $600 (PS5+Portal) kind of cool; as with Sable, maybe I'll try my luck with it on Deck someday.
Never heard of any of these.
Two out of three games that I'm interested in, so a good month for me.
Great month, rollerdrome is the highlight for me but I might try out the other two.
I dislike soulslike games but hopefully steelrising has enough RPG elements to make it fun for me. Foamstars sounds like it could be fun.
I have RollerDome. Haven't played much of it but it's decent so far from what the bit i've played thus far.
FoamStars was decent as a game to waste time and mess around in the beta. So i'll download the full game and play it from time to time even though I don't have PS Plus right now(will have it next week as playing Helldivers 2 online requires PS Plus).
So many positive comments about Steelrise, I can't wait to get off this ship and try it...
Foamstars could be good fun and Plus Essential is the ideal platform for it. If it plays well and has enough variation could be decent in co-op.
Don't like or want to try any of those 3 games. Hopefully they add better stuff to the PS extra catalogue. 🤞
