Sony once again showed off its upcoming electric car AFEELA at CES 2024, which it’s creating in conjunction with Honda. As you’d expect, it’s a pretty high-tech vehicle – and this short video from IGN shows off the insides. Unsurprisingly, you’ll find a dazzling array of features and functions, including the ability to Remote Play your PS5 games on the dashboard.
As the presenter notes, the functionality works similarly to the PS Portal, allowing you to connect to your console at home and stream games directly to it. One neat feature is, depending on what you boot, the internal lighting of the car as well as the icon on its front bumper will change to reflect what you’re doing. In this example, it shows the logo from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The car also has Sony 360 audio, which is integrated into the seats and at various points around the car, to complete the immersive experience. It all looks seriously impressive, especially the way the touchscreen in the front extends all the way across the dashboard. But we’d also argue it’s not especially practical – after all, how often would you actually use these features?

Looks dope ngl , but I don't see myself getting an electric car within the next 5-10 years
As expected! Now let me go back to my Peugeot feeling extremely middle class.
But why? Shouldn't you be driving? This doesn't seem safe.
Electric cars are a huge scam. Plus Sony is using Dual Shock batteries for this car so expect to not make it to the end of the road 😁
@RainbowGazelle Im sure it won't allow you to play whilst driving 😂
They're missing a huge opportunity...if they don't let you drive the car with the controller.
Also, I thought PS5 was actually on-board as Car's CPU system...
For this kind of money, you shouldn't be getting janky Remote Play.
That’s cool. Tried Chinese EVs with Switch docks before. Pretty neat if you’ve got a family and need to keep the kids occupied.
But why would I need to be able to play video games in my car?
If it doesn't play older games like Kula World it's not worth it, The Gravity Trickster game is not good enough.
This is everything that's wrong with today's world!
Is that the rumored ps5 pro ?
@DellMibbler Been driving EVs for the past few years myself and haven't looked back. What EV do you drive if you don't mind me asking? I've got a Nissan Leaf myself.
@RainbowGazelle While charging!
I'm not against the idea of it but I am against the idiots that will play while driving and put other ppls lives at risk for Thier 20 mins tik tok fame
As long as I can play PSVR2 whilst driving I'm in.
I doubt this will see the light of day, almost all these concept cars in these shows never make it to mass production.
Yeah that car is gonna be expensive I'm good 👍 🙂
I wonder how many games could have been developed with that prototype’s budget.
Ok, but can you play Gran Turismo with the wheel? Or would you still need to buy an expensive add-on wheel? 😋
I’ll wait for the pro version 😂
This car would've been great for me when I was younger and had to go with mom to her appointment or something like that.
Could've been playing while waiting for her!
Yes, I know handhelds are a thing but I would've definitely prefer my ps3 over my psp any day while waiting.
I really do love the screen and lights but I'm sure the price would be way too much.
@Martsmall I'm sure they would have it so you can only use it during park, else Sony would get sued real quick.
@mariomaster96 They asked the same question with mobile phones and with so many modern things.
@mariomaster96 beacuse kids can be very annoying when bored
@mariomaster96 You don't. It's marketing. The PS5 feature is pointless, but people are talking about the car, so it works.
@gpimlott Woudn't it make more sense to put the screen on the back of the front seat then instead of the dashboard?
@RainbowGazelle You should be driving. Every else with you, not so much.
Car looks cool, but this is just remote play. You could theoretically do this with any screen/device inside any car.
I’d be more impressed if it had an actual PS5 inside the car.
The funny thing is I don't drive and I'm an adult
Would be really amazing if the windshield switched in a huge oled screen and sits had haptic feedback and the car bumped along with the game. Plus a pop corn bar and beer fountain.
What a sham! A streaming screen!? It won't work when driving for the kids in the backseat, because I am sure the signal has to be stable.
I could see a use case if it was an actual PS5, but they're actually skimping on a damn PS5😂😂😂 Are brakes like the disc where you have to buy them separately!?
And to think I ordered 1 of these! I'll scrap 'em on arrival.
This car is a huge failure already, congratulations 🥳🎉👏. Maybe someone can tell me why I am wrong.
Please, SONY just stop yourself and turn a page. We need management who isn't asleep behind the wheels. They're spending money like a 6-year-old in 30-something-body.
@Kienda yeah Viz top top top: . Sellotape an iPhone to your dashboard and tell your neighbors you have a Sony concept car.
I assume not physical we don't want PSP or other moving around in the car to damage the disks or digital because makes more sense, also installing a ultra blu-ray player in a car would be awkward too versus a digital interface, the OS, parts and well profiles and other things to focus on.
It a case of can it be done rather than should it be done. Electric cars and want you can do with them. Is it cool yes, practical no. Safety as well but also just a novelty feature. I mean some people like driving but even those that don't. Just use a phone or tablet/cough Dualsense grips. Also if the OS is awkward then well got to love that and the car subscriptions of the future. The future of cars is getting too money hungry and unexciting.
DRM Trains even what a future we live in.
Wait sorry a streaming/remote play experience. On the open road. Ha what a waste. Then again that expensive waste money trying to get it to work on the open road, or try to tag to the nearest public wifi I guess if stores, caravan parks or hotels won't notice how much data is being used.
This is like Vita 3G, a fair feature it was but no one wanted to pay more for it even besides the limited carrier choice as well. So wifi if you can on the open road or 4G-5G on the road costs. Ha no thanks. Or just money for brains too I guess.
Better to have it part of the console not an awkward connection tagging to the car unless it's stopped I guess as too much moving and connection lost I'd assume.
So anyone with a physical library and this car.... Good luck I guess,
Nice, it's just like $90k more expensive than my budget. Maybe I'll just use PS Portal on old school Toyota Corolla
@GamerDad66 hahaha imagine driving your car like burnout with a dual sense, that would be a sight to see 🔥😂😂
@DulyNoated I think most people these days can even afford a car let alone fuel and all the rest, it's all too taxing, excuse the pun
I can do this on an android head unit for like 130£ off Ebay
