Once upon a time, Sony announced LittleBigPlanet HUB, a free-to-play PS Store exclusive for the PS3. The game would apparently combine all of the content from LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2, and would allow fans to Play Create Share without the entry fee. It was an ambitious concept, and one that presumably gave the platform holder cold feet.
As you no doubt already know, the outing, slated for August 2013, never actually released – and it’s widely assumed that it transitioned into LittleBigPlanet 3 instead. But over ten years later, here is footage from a beta version of LittleBigPlanet Hub, which has apparently emerged following the expiration of a decades-old NDA.
There’s very little surprising here really: the gameplay looks like textbook LittleBigPlanet, complete with floaty physics, prize bubbles, and Stephen Fry narration. Of course, it’s always interesting to see cancelled titles like this, and we daresay a free-to-play LittleBigPlanet could have some mileage in this era of creative live services like Roblox and Minecraft.

I kinda hope Sony haven't forgot about the IP, even if they rent it out to a third party developer to do, aslong as Sackboys Adventure isn't his last game.
I really hope MM comes out swinging with a good new game soon. Dreams was cool, but ultimately didn't catch on with the larger public, and I think it was quickly forgotten about. Out of all the games that made their way to PC, Dreams should've been the first. Kinda baffling they didn't do this.
Their last ''game-game'' (so not counting Dreams) was 9 years ago with the release of the Tearaway remake on PS4, so it's been a while.
LBP will return, as a gritty 3rd person, over the shoulder action adventure. Sack boy will team up with Sack son on an epic journey to retrieve a sacred sack lunch, where they learn as much about each other as they do about themselves. (Mature rating, with a very high thread count)
I miss these games. The first one is still my favourite despite, or perhaps because, of the limitations but man…
LBP and ModNation Racers were the epitome of PS at its creative best.
We need those games back. MM are still around (somehow!) and although United Front games may have gone, San Diego Studios worked on the original ModNation (and its Vita sequel) so we still have some experience in PS Studios.
By the way, wasn't it announced recently that all the LBP 1 & 2 objects, textures and so on are now in LBP 3?
@Ichiban LBP 4 - the Souls-a-like edition. Dear lord, no!
Just make a new they have next to nothing for kids. It's a crime they closed that other kids friendly studio.
Good times. LBP1 was an absolute gem.
It's such a shame in between mobile & PC dev house acquisitions, that Sony didn't acquire a good porting team,(Especially if Bluepoint have seemingly moved onto original IP),to work on PS Classics from PS1/PS2 like Alundra,Adventures of Lomax,Colony Wars,Ratchet & Clank PS2 & PS3 era ports,Sly Cooper,God of War 1 & 2,& the likes of Little Big Planet 1 & 2,Resistance series etc , if they regarded PS3 emulation as too much effort.
They & others managed HD versions of PS2 gen games to PS3,why not similar onto the likes of PS5? Rather than a full blown TLOU remake, just make them to 1080p compatible view without looking like an elephant has squashed the screen! 😕
@Robocod I don't think it was that they couldn't be bothered, it's just that neither the PS4 or PS5 has the necessary grunt to emulate the Cell architecture without melting. Push/pop architecture vs distributed processing needs a LOT of horsepower.
Given the PC spec needed to run RPCS3, I think we're at least a generation off.
@sanderson72 Hence why I was meaning they had a dedicated team or two work on porting some of those PS3 era games like LBP 1 & 2,Karting, Motorstorm series,Resistance etc., if its easier than working on an emulation of PS3 titles.
They did ports of some of their PS2 era games onto PS3 & even the likes of the Uncharted series & TLOU onto ps4 from PS3
Surely a better solution than the limited availability of PS NOW/PS Premium streaming servers to only select few regions!
@Robocod I'm just hoping that whoever replaces Jim Ryan will keep us in the loop for emulation, remaster (PS2/PS3 to PS4 was and is valid) and new/rebooted releases & IPs.
We need a Layden-type back in the mix.
