Persona 3 Reload is a full price remake of a PS2 game that released in 2006. On one hand, it's an excellent revival. On the other, you'd probably expect such a game to definitive — but it isn't, because it's missing additional content that was added through re-releases.
A slice of that content, originally titled The Answer — an epilogue that was included in Persona 3 FES — is being recreated as Episode Aigis, and it's going to be paid DLC for Persona 3 Reload in September.
Now look, if Reload is anything to go by, Episode Aigis should be a great expansion. But it's hard not to feel as though Atlus is taking the p*ss when the game's producer, Kazuhisa Waza, weighs in with this gem: "with [Episode Aigis], Persona 3 Reload will be complete".
That's a quote from the 'Developer Message' that Atlus just released, which you can watch above. It also suggests that Reload won't be getting any additional DLC once the expansion is out (not that we were expecting it anyway).
How do you feel about Episode Aigis? Should it have been included from the start? Give Atlus a knowing look in the comments section below.

The one that it should've released with in the first place? I'm glad I haven't bought this game at release. I love Persona but I don't trust Atlus.
Does this Aigis DLC include the option to play as the female protagonist? Or is that unknown?
This entire charade has been disingenuous at best. Not only has it been an excuse to milk yet more money, but they've managed to accomplish making a full 'definitive' remake, despite insisting this was some sort of faithful remake of only the original; And the net result is they've managed to avoid including the female player character in a potentially final edition.
In other words, they've had their cake and eaten it too.
As someone who only ever played P3P, and as FEMC, I have no desire to purchase this product. It certainly isn't the 'definitive' edition in my eyes, it's still incomplete after all.
Its also a little odd that its free on Xbox for a limited time.
Still gonna hang around until we get that FeMC goodness!
It isn't that I don't believe Atlus... but... err... I don't.
^Yeah, The only way they could make me spend more money on this is adding the female lead and her arc
@jorel262 It shouldn't no
@Jill_Sandwich Well, with GamePass, where the game itself also is available.
At this point they're not even shy fleecing the fans anymore. Devs these days see these live service games raking in the dough and they feel SP players still owe them more. I mean just go make a live service game then and stop this shameful facade towards sp players.
That's cool. By the time I get around to buying it'll be around $40US for the whole package prolly.
Atlus are honestly pissing me off a bit these days so I'm not buying any of their stuff. Plenty of great JRPG alternatives right now
I definitely think The Answer should've been present at release. As I don't really replay games after getting the plat, I don't think I'll be getting it.
Not the best choice of words for sure.
Atlus at its scummiest.
I hope Persona 3 Reload Remaster releases for PS6
The headline makes it sound like they released an unfinished game and that this paid DLC makes the game "complete" and this sounds like it wasn't actually complete. Translation from Japanese is hard as we all know and regionalizing what was meant and the literal translation is even harder still. He could have just meant that they would be finished releasing new content and not to get excited for more, ie FmMC. I could also be a red herring for the inevitable Persona 3 RE_RELOAD Platinum Plus Ultra Mega Complete Final RoyalyRoyal Edition that I will preorder, probably
I will pick it up for free via the Gamepass perk. Having the Series S has it's benefits at times.
@jorel262 No as Atlus doesn't wanna do another female Persona main character again.
Or Sega has told them to move on after the DLC is out.
I still say the dlc is pointless and i have no intention of getting it.
Weebs will defend it
The very same person who said “So, fans can rest assured knowing that Persona 3 Reload offers a complete experience” before the launch. And yet some will defend it and happily pay again.
What a joke!
That is all
Atlus have so, so much previous. Persona fans generally will put up with it though, they managed to put up with being Persona fans despite never having played a single game in the series for years as they only owned a Switch.
Second-hand purchases only when it comes to Atlus titles on my part. People shouldn't give them their hard-earned money with these shady practices. Their statements are pure lies.
@Leonhart
The answer is not content that is added to the base game, it is an extra story that takes place after the conclusion of the main story. So if you're worried about having to replay the game you shouldn't, you can hop into this after beating the story and it's intended that you do.
They are taking the biscuit. Will wait for a complete edition bundled at a low price.
Gamepass was the correct choice
Atlus makes great games but I don’t trust anything about a “final” anything. I expect a new edition sometime next year or more dlc.
I’m waiting for Metaphor.
Ah yes, as I predicted a few weeks ago. "Due to an outpour of support from our fans, we will now charge you for a DLC which should have been in the game from the beginning." Atlus has once again proven that Persona games are ripe for further monetization, be it remakes or original entries (see: P5 Royal on PS5 with no upgrade path for existing players).
Really strange decision by the peeps at Atlus.
Kinda makes me glad I waited on getting this until it drops a little on price (that and I was knee deep playing Infinite Wealth at the time, which helped justify this decision).
Who wants to bet we'll be getting a complete re-release of this down the line with the DLC?
I'll wait for Persona 6 hopefully it'll have a FMC
@ATaco did you play the original? I never did but reviews of the (PS2) final chapter seems to be pretty negative from what I've seen. Complaints that it's just a dungeon crawl, and a really hard one at that.
@Balosi
Yes I've played it back on the PS2 and unfortunately the reviews are not wrong. The school sim aspect is completely gone and it basically is just a dungeon crawler. I'm not sure if this remake will be exactly the same but it will likely be a difficult dungeon crawler. Some might not even find the dlc worth it, truth be told.
"It will be complete...but not definitive ! That version will be released later at full price. Ha ha, fooled you again suckers !"
Lol no. It will never be complete without the Femc and I have zero tolerance for half-assed remakes, so I decided to vote with my wallet and not buy Reload. Both the Answer and Femc should've been in the base game, only then the 60$ price tag would've made sense. What an embarrasment.
I didn't ever finish this back on the PS2 and again on the PSP I only got so far. I have so much to play so will probably pick this up later and by then hopefully there is a real complete edition with the DLC included.
Atlus' releases are a mess. Like P5S wasn't a sequel to P5R but P5. As if their re-releases aren't canon.
I guess I'm in the minority here - I think this is just fine. They're actually releasing the content as an expansion rather than as part of a deluxe edition you're forced to buy just to get the new content. The base game as it was released is a complete experience as far as I'm concerned. I paid $65 for it and played for about 75 hours so far. Less than $1 an hour for the experience is worth it to me, especially since I'll be starting another run in August to get ready for the new content and expect to put in another 90 hours or so to run the game again, finish the platinum (which I almost NEVER do), and play Episode Aigis. This was never billed as a remake of FES or Portable. It's a remake of the base game. Getting the ability to purchase Episode Aigis is just frosting on the cake as far as I'm concerned. I believe the devs deserve to be paid for extra work, so I'm happy to buy it.
Not paying for the DLC.
