After the successful China Hero Project helped bring several great PS5 and PS4 games to a global audience, Sony is doing the same in India, and it's ready to talk about the selected titles. The India Hero Project is aiding a set of five games from Indian developers, all of which are heading to PS5 as well as PC.
The Hero Project program sees Sony offer mentorship, funding, resources, and more to game makers in countries with burgeoning development scenes. Below are the five games heading to PS5 in future, all of which come from Indian studios. We've provided a brief overview here of each title, but there's a little more detail over on the PS Blog.
Meteora: The Race Against Space Time
Described as a combat arcade racer, Meteora: The Race Against Space Time has you controlling a meteor as it hurtles through the cosmos. You'll compete against other meteors for the win, levelling up abilities and climbing the leaderboards as you go. This one is being developed for PSVR2 as well as PS5.
Fishbowl
Fishbowl is a melancholic, story-driven adventure game set in contemporary India. Featuring lo-fi music and pixel art visuals, the game has a relaxed feel, but tackles themes of "grief, connection, and self-discovery" as you guide Alo through her first steps in a new, work-from-home job.
Mukti
Human trafficking is the sobering subject matter of Mukti. This curious game has you exploring a labyrinthine Indian museum in first-person to discover more about this atrocity. The title aims to raise awareness and inspire action against human trafficking in what sounds like an impactful, important experience.
Requital: Gates of Blood
Requital: Gates of Blood is an exploration of Egyptian mythology through the lens of a side-scrolling action platformer. Playing as Zahrah, you'll help her fight her way out of the afterlife realm of Duat, with "boss rush-like" encounters with mythical beasts.
Suri: The Seventh Note
This is another 2D action platformer, though thematically very different. Suri: The Seventh Note explores India's mythology, exploring mystical areas like floating Himalayan temples and ancient jungles. The gameplay here seems to combine traditional running and jumping with a rhythmic slant, as "the game’s world synchronizes seamlessly with an enigmatic beat".
As mentioned, each of these games is heading to PS5, although none have a release date yet. Still, each one sounds really interesting, and we're curious to learn more about them when the time comes. What do you think of these India Hero Project games? Which one sounds most appealing to you? Tell us in the comments section below.

There's some interesting stuff there.
That Meteora game in VR2 especially has my attention, but all five sound fun.
I suppose this is the safest strategy for Sony:
Does Sony own these ips or is this kind of like their old pub fund and they get paid back from a certain level of sales?
I feel like it’s a scam
@KillerBoy Who is getting scammed? Your not making sense, could you explain?
These partnerships are great, and I like the wealth of original ideas we might see as a result..
@Titntin have you heard of the day before
Couldn't help but notice that every one of these games appears to feature a female protagonist. Curious...
@xDD90x it’s insane that that’s what you took away from that. Looking to be aggrieved.
I like this idea. Hopefully they make a game that I might like. Microsoft should have done something like this too.
@ShadowofSparta I took away more than that from the news. That was just one observation that piqued my curiosity. I'm not in the least bit aggrieved over it. I think you misread my intent. Didn't mean to offend.
@xDD90x
What's curious? People complain when smaller voices "shoehorn" their stories into existing media and that they should create their own stories. Well, here they are, their own stories, yet somehow it's curious...
@xDD90x Ah fair enough, apologies on my part. I’ve been triggered by some obnoxious comments on this site before and I came in a bit too ready there, misread the intent.
Just curious if it was purely coincidental or not. That's all
Where can I read about the china hero project? What were the games and how were they received?
@zhoont I don't think any of them have came out yet. These are the only ones I can remember by name.
AI Limit recently got a trailer on IGN and Sony's YouTube channel saying coming in 2024.
Lost soul aside & infinity Nicki apparently got delayed until 2024 as well but we've heard nothing from them and I'm not sure what happening with the rest.

@zhoont I think 'Exiledge' was another game in the china hero project. Most haven't released yet but they all have trailers you can check out on YouTube.
Forged In Shadow Torch is a metroidvania that was part of the project and was well recieved
@KillerBoy have you heard of Cyberpunk? No Mans Sky? Any Bethesda game ever? Games are gambles, use your own brain and make your informed decision.
Are Sony going to publish these games? The mention of them coming to PC seems rather unnecessary they've always been console first when it comes to these things.
That last one sounds incredibly interesting. Would love to see some different mythologies explored other than the overused Norse (my opinion only, it seems to be common for these last 2 console generations) and the beaten to death Greek. Especially Indian mythology, as it is so vast that you could take fractions of it and still have an enormous amount of content to use.
Glad to see more and more things trying to spread the news of how severe and common human sex trafficking is. This is one of the most egregious atrocities in the US and across the world, yet US media—most of which claim to be so caring and virtuous—never mentions a word about it. Too nonsensical to be anything but intentional and coordinated.
Anyway, rant over. I’ll happily support Mukti, and I’m excited for the other four as well. Love that we’ll be getting games inspired by Indian minds and culture!
Always happy for new games and new cultural perspectives.
@KillerBoy
'have you heard of the day before'
Of course. I can't see any relevance of that sorry state of affairs with this news or development program, unless somehow you are inferring there's no development and they are simply taking funds. I can assure that this is not how development works and there will be 'producer' from sony who will be visiting these studios and checking progress.'
I worked in this field for two decades and was often showing the publishers the latest build and developments in the game throughout development.
'the day before' was not financed by a production house and has no parallel with this program at all.
