As has been speculated, Falcom is indeed working on a new Tokyo Xanadu title. The game doesn't have a name yet, or confirmed platforms, or a release window, but at least we know it's coming!
Tokyo Xanadu is an action RPG that's set in modern Japan. In Persona-esque fashion, a bunch of teenagers find a way to enter a mysterious other world where they're able to wield fantastical weapons and magical abilities in the pursuit of slaying monsters.
It originally released in 2015 for the PS Vita, and was ported to PS4 in 2016 as Tokyo Xanadu EX+. It was, and still is, a solid, character-driven experience — and we'd recommend trying it if you're a fan of Falcom's other properties, like Trails and Ys.
Of course, we'll probably be waiting a while for this one here in the West. But in the meantime, let us know if you're a Tokyo Xanadu diehard in the comments section below.

Day one for me.
Still mind boggling to me the output from Falcom. Feels like it takes longer to simply play one of their games than it takes them to develop one from scratch.
Sweet! The first one was pretty solid so I'm interested to see what improvements they make. Definitely interested!
I'm not that much into action games, but I wanna play through this game at least once for the story. Slightly looking forward to this^^
Tokyo Xanadu was my first ever Falcom game, and it introduced me to my favourite franchises in gaming: Ys and Trails. Can't wait for this one!
After being a bit down from Akira Toriyama passing away, seeing falcom music for djmax respect and now new tokyo xanadu lifted my mood back up <3
The first one is just ok so I think a sequel could iron out a lot of the less good bits with how much they’ve learned since then.
Absolutely buzzing at this!! TX was the first game I got the plat for - it was so much more than the sum of its parts, and was so much fun to play. Day one for sure
very excited about this !
Day one baby let’s go woohoo
@Jayslow That's because most (Western) devs tend to focus more on the technical stuff and dragging out the development cycle instead of making games in reasonable time. Falcom, Ryu ga Gotoku and all these studios who release fantastic games in such a short time span are the only sensible devs left.
Great news indeed.
This is now one of my most anticipated games!
Never played the original, but love Falcom at this point just based on my experience with Ys - anything they do is on my radar now.
@LtSarge Agreed, if the industry is looking for a solution to the triple A bloat that is making production costs soar, look no further than games like Falcom's - a pleasant, distinctive art style, made with love, and gameplay up the wazoo.
Hell yes!! I loved Tokyo Xanadu. So a new game is a welcome.
I hope it’s a stand-alone experience. I’d be very interested if it was
Took a while, but it's finally happening.
Time flies. I remember when they teased the first tokyo xanadu.
