The name Infogrames will ring a bell for many gamers out there; the name appeared on many popular titles on pretty much every platform. Now, the brand is making a comeback. Atari has announced the revival of Infogrames as a new publishing label.
It'll publish and distribute games "that fall outside the core portfolio of IP associated with the Atari brand". The webpage also tells us it'll be managing its catalogue "by expanding digital and physical distribution", as well as developing "new collections and sequels". Game preservation is also a "core component of its mission".
Infogrames will begin building up its portfolio of IP and software "primarily through acquisition", the announcement continues. It's intended that the label will aim to secure legacy titles it originally published back in the 80s and 90s.
Speaking of acquisitions, it's also been announced that Infogrames has purchased the Totally Reliable Delivery Service games, along with related "trademarks and underlying property" from tinyBuild.
What do you think of the return of Infogrames? Roll up like an armadillo in the comments section below.

Anyone else used to misread this name as Infogames? Just me? Takes me back to the 90's, ooft.
@Golem25 i did too.
So funny. Was reading the Top Spin review yesterday and had a little flash back to playing Advantage Tennis in the early 90’s. Remembered Infogrames for the first time in decades. And then today - serendipity.
If they bring back Hogs of war, I'll be a very happy man
Gotta give Atari props, they've been making some really positive changes lately.
I think this sounds great!
I really like where Atari is headed. Will keep an eye out on their future, unlike most other companies in the industry right now.
I've done that for as long as I can remember. I still can't get my head around the second part of the name being 'grames'.
Memories indeed. Sounds interesting for an old f*rt like me
Atari was my very first console ever.glad they are doing theyre thing.word up son
Welcome back armadillo!
Infogrames actually bought Atari in 2001. I guess they rebranded as Atari and are now spinning the Infogrames name off. I remember liking Kult and Drakken back in the day (Atari ST, which I’ve still got)
Dont Atari like to relaunch themselves every couple of years. Have they actually done much of substance on the last 30 years since the heady days of the Jaguar, Atari ST and the 2600?
Infogrames doesn’t so much roll off of the tongue as stumble out of the mouth, but I do remember enjoying some of their games. I also have to agree with the comments here applauding Atari for how they’re doing things lately. Speaking of which, about to give Lunar Lander Beyond a go!
Alone in the Dark and Unreal. Ohh how old I am...
North & South, plus Hostages are the two Infogrames games I remember playing on my Speccy back in the day. I think there's been a re-release of the former, but dunno about the latter. Would like to see both reissued.
Plus Hogs of War!
@NinjaNicky
The remaster of Hogs of War is still on going the team haven’t stopped working on it even though the Kickstarter wasn’t successful, they did state before they would continue on with the development whether it was successful or not though.
They post videos up o YouTube on their official channel after month to showcase their development and discuss new things in every vid.
I’d recommend giving their videos a watch and keep update with their progress
Oooohhh awesome news I did expect to hear.
I would absolutely love a Sheep dog n wolf remaster especially if it leads to a sequel.
It’s one of my favourite games of all time and one of my favourite games by them along with Hogs of War.
There’s already an official remaster of Hogs of War in development already called Lardcore being worked on a small team
Also read it as Infogames when I played alone in the dark from floppy disks XP
@Golem25 Yep, Infogrames vs Infogames. Reminds me of the Nubunaga’s Ambition games. Since the NES and up until about two years ago, I always thought it was Nobunga’s Ambition. 🤣🤣
I'm still giddy that Nolan Bushnell has a VA cameo in Pixel Ripped 79. It's one of those "now the circle is complete" moments in gaming.
@jgrangervikings1 "Nobunga". Yes! One of us! That legendary Japanese hero Nobunga! I knew him.
@Vil Company with the best future outlook on the games industry: Atari.
There's something no one would believe in '83 could be said in 2024.
It would be nice if that meant Atari became much better but mostly it means that everybody else thinks ET didn't need to go to the landfill.
Do they own the Driver IP or did Infogrames just publish it back in the day? That's a series that needs a reboot.
Happy that I lived through the gaming history started from Atari 2600. Still the biggest surprise for me was NES and REAL
@BushSwan I played advantage tennis back then 🤣... And Infogrames spinning logo on Alone in the dark gave me the chills.
@MetalGear_Yoshi They used to own the IP but Atari sold it to Ubisoft after Driver: Parallel Lines. They sold off their other most well known IP (Alone in the Dark) recently to THQ Nordic. Pretty much the only thing they still own of note that isn’t an Atari classic is RollerCoaster Tycoon and they’ve butchered that in recent years!
Wait so Infogrames is being brought back by themselves as this Atari is them these days. Not the Atari hardware/software of the 90s anymore. It was Hasbro Interactive then Infogrames then Atari. Wow what a weird roller coaster.
Yes games makes more sense then grames.
Otherwise what will they do with them? Hasbro Interactive stuff? Infogrames IPs? Or just reviving it because it's iconic and can offer it as another option of things for them besides just their Atari side? If so cool I guess? Not fussed really.
Ok then... What's going to happen to Sierra and others then? So many iconic names and IPs dead.
Atari 50 has been good.
Roller Coaster Tycoon games POST RCT 3 have been trash/joke. mobile and World are just not worth it.
So to me Atari doing anything in some spaces have just been good in some, bad in others.
@Golem25 hmmmmmm I still do. It makes more sense hahaha literally had to go read it. Never even gave it another thought until right now.
You just blew my mind and now I'm sad.
My whole 90s was a lie
D'ya know who I really miss? Neversoft. 12 year old me thought their logo was the most awesomest thing ever and considerably older me missed it on the THPS remake... Although Infogrames were also tied to many good times...
@MetalGear_Yoshi Agree with a Driver reboot. I still play 1 & 2 on the odd, but need to either fix my PC to emulate PS2 or get something less janky to connect mine to a modern TV to play later games. Or just buy a Sony Trinitron off Gumtree... 😁
