You're either utterly obsessed with Funko Pops or you can't stand the sight of them, and there's no in-between. As such, newly announced PS5, PS4 game Funko Fusion is already facing an uphill battle with some console owners. Using what appears to be a similar structure and approach to the LEGO games, this is a title playable alone or in four-player online co-op, and it's out on 13th September 2024. Check it out in the above reveal trailer.
The game comes from a brand new developer called 10:10 Games, which is bringing together Funko Pops based on more than 20 classic franchises, including Jurassic World, JAWS, Back to the Future, The Thing, Shaun of the Dead, and Chucky. You'll play through worlds inspired by all these IPs and more, as a story ties them all together. There'll be more than 60 playable characters in total, all of which have their own weapons and abilities.
10:10 Games co-founder and head of publishing Arthur Parsons says the goal of Funko Fusion is to "create an incredible co-op videogame experience that will bring gamers from across the globe together in a unique, fun, energetic, and authentic gaming experience". Described as the "ultimate celebration of fandom", it's all about mixing together these properties for "every generation with humor, fun mechanics, and fast-paced high-adrenaline action".
Here's a sample of screenshots:
If you pre-order the game, you'll gain access to a bonus pack of characters based on The Walking Dead. You'll get Rick Grimes and Michonne along with an assortment of different outfits. That's Funko Fusion out for PS5 and PS4 on 13th September 2024, as well as PC, Xbox consoles, and Nintendo Switch. Will you add it to your wishlist? The figures have gone very landfill-ey but I do think this does make sense as a competitor to the Lego games, which I love even if I’m not as much of a fan of the voice acting games. It does look like an NFT game from the pandemic years though.
One of the screenshots pretty much sums up my reaction: Nope.
Firmly in the "can't stand the sight of them" camp. No sale for me.
Haven't bought a single Funko figure in years now but I do have a pretty big collection. I like them but nowadays they milk the same characters over and over.
Still, this game looks like fun, just like Lego games
Not a fan of Funko Pops. Very few characters actually look any good.
HOWEVER, the animation on this actually looks good. The game looks semi descent.
Colour me surprised.
Looked like dark brown Lego Dimensions to me, kind of surprised they didn't go all in and market the toys-to-life as well.
They lost me at "online" co-op though, these games should be 2 player couch. Oh well.
I do like the name and logo for 10:10 Games, kinda surprised no company has thought of it before.
@rjejr A lack of couch co-op would kill this game stone dead. The Lego games work because the co-op is ideal for kids making them feel useful alongside an adult while introducing game concepts that’ll serve them well as they get older.
I love funkos, so can't be mad.
I also would like to take this opportunity as always to poop on Sony for not making something similar to Funkos with dressed up Sackboy figures.
They've made so much garbage merch, but never thought about something like Funko?
Absolutely mindboggling
Ok.. I'll admit... I have Frasier & Martin Crane Funkos. Do you will with me.
I've never bought a single Funko but id be lying if I said I have never been tempted.Looking forward to this!
No Stellar Blade, Eve Funko, not getting this then..
Maybe I'll buy the game when discount for the sole purpose of the IP's. It's gotta be expired sometime
@Wazeddie22 i caved in years later when they weren’t trending anymore & got a funko pop, and a funko pop keychain 😖😖. i hate to say that i love them 😂
its weird theyre making a game all of a sudden after it’s been so long though
@Torque, true. that’s the only reason i got a funko was because they had one of a character i really liked
Disagree on the 2 camp front. I have one Funko a gandolf Deadpoool, but I don't love them or hate them. Just another in a long line of collectibles.
This is giving me LittleBigPlanet vibes for some reason…
I was sold as soon as I saw He-Man!
@Sequel if you're going to get them they are good ones to get but no Niles??
I keep reading this headline and it keeps making me feel feelings I can’t put into words fully, a sort of sad disgust. Please bury every mention of funko-pop, give it an opt-in filter and someone find whoever decides to make this game and blacklist them from ever coming near video games again
@rusty82 Hoping to get Niles one day. Would be fun if they did a Maris and it was just an empty box
@BeerIsAwesome
They're cool! And I collect them, but what I meant was a funko-like line, but made with Sackboys as the base.
Like how you could make all sorts of characters in-game, but a collectibles line out of that as a merch
@nessisonett Did a google search. Looked on their webpage, on other articles, asked on twitter, but nothing about how the co-op works, everyone just says "Co-op". 🤷♂️ This is some very basic info, the world is broken. 😝

I'm actually liking what I see
@Sequel lol brilliant idea
I think the "in-between" I feel when gazing upon a funko pop is a listless sense of indifference — about the same amount of passion that's etched into their cold, dead eyes.
