Update: Ubisoft has now confirmed Star Wars Outlaws will launch for PS5 on 30th August 2024 as part of a new story trailer you can watch above.
Original story: Ubisoft is planning on dropping a fresh story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws in a few hours, but the cat's already out of the bag by way of a Japanese premiere page that's published the release date: the PS5 game launches on the 30th August 2024. Currently a very quiet time of the year — very little of the release calendar has been claimed beyond May — so it's one of the first major games to look forward to for the second half of 2024.
The description posted to YouTube also mentions the chance to play the game three days early if you pay for the cash for either the Gold or Ultimate Edition of the game, meaning you could start playing from 27th August 2024. This also means Star Wars Outlaws will have a season pass promising DLC after release, like most Ubisoft experiences.
Pitched as the first open world game set in the Star Wars universe, we'll update this article once the trailer is posted in a couple of hours. Will you be making time for Star Wars Outlaws in August? Let us know in the comments below.

Excited, but can we make November that the inevitable post release patches are already inside the game by then and we can spare the overblown outrage?
Can’t wait for this one. High hopes indeed.
This all but confirms a new AC game in the final few months of the year then. Noice!
I am looking forward to this hopefully it turns out good
Awesome news, I didn't even expect it this year tbh, it is Star Wars so it's a day one for me but I won't be jumping on the season pass!
Looking forward to this.
Hoping for some news on the 20th anniversary remaster of BG&E soon though

Ugh, multiple editions and season passes, pay for early access… not a fan of all that, but it’s the reality of the situation. I’ll probably wait then until it’s more content complete in a year or two. We’ll see.
Perfect game for the September-December window. I'm semi-hyped and prepared to switch to all out hype later in the year 😁 a lot of people praise this studio for their attention to detail and environments, which is important for Star Wars. I also think it might be much easier to make this game properly fun, versus something like Avatar which is kind of more hyper specific tonaly. Star Wars as an IP just has so much more a dev can tap into and so many more opportunities for interest, intrigue and all out fun.
Can't wait to see more to be honest 😁
@Th3solution Season pass is just a commitment to DLC expansions. “Early Access” is the new cancer though.
@tameshiyaku Exactly. I never buy games day one anymore. Wait for more time and then not only i get better experience but in some cases even price drops.
I can’t wait for this. Ultimate Edition on day one for me.
My brothers birthday, well I know what I'm getting for him.
Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst. Will definitely be waiting for reviews before picking it up.
Probably won’t play it at release (or even during 2024 tbh) but love the look of the game and look forward to getting around to it eventually.
More Star Wars, no thanks
Black myth wukong be like

Ubisoft hoping to have a good end to the year with Star Wars, and possibly AC Red before Christmas.
Perfect game for Christmas holidays 2024. Then it’s patched and costs half the original price.
My hopes for 60 fps are quite low though.
Definitely looks interesting. Hope it's good! I was expecting it later in fall, so August was a nice surprise. My guess is due to things to be seen at Ubisoft Forward.
A lot of people was hoping for May based on the Korean ratings speculation but I knew this had Aug-Sept written all over it. Ubi love a long marketing campaign.
So a female Han Solo with an attitude to match, goes toe-to-toe with the big wigs in a bid for freedom of something. Stealth, action, blasters. Lotta cutscenes but no mention of choice.
2024 is indeed an expansion of 2023 so far and upto August it seems.
Jo Videogames industry, you may take a break so we can catch up.
£104.99 for the gold edition - UBISOFT have adopted the EA approach to pricing!!
Curious to learn more but if it’s just Star Cry, I’m out.
Everything looks pretty cool except that damn haircut. But it’s ubisoft so outfits will be part of the game I’m sure. Will play this on the Pro hopefully but shame that Ubi+ is not on Playstation because 25$ for a month for the ultimate edition is a steal
I'm just gonna say if any of ya fork over $100 for early access I will judge u and be disappointed 😞 😔 😉
I recently parted ways with the majority of my Star Wars stuff, I have kept the blu-ray set of I-VI and the NJO novels, hopefully get round to reading them soon. I'm sure it will be a fine game but for me Star Wars is no longer a must watch IP.
@Chaotic_Goat As a child of the 1980s I think it's great. A lot of people aren't fans though and I don't get it.
So tired of "half shaved head hair floppy " haircuts
I was excited by the initial trailer. I'm wary of it just following the Ubisoft open world formula.
First Ubisoft game I've been excited for in YEARS!!!
MTX, Online to install Physical copy.. this is Single Player game from Ubisoft.
they can't make any game without ***** their bed.
Looks like a good time to me.
It's got the Star Wars look and sound down and I think I'm one of the few who doesn't totally hate Ubisoft. Think this will be a day one buy.
It looks cool I guess. But I just keep asking myself. Why isn't this just a Han Solo game? Now I'm not a game developer or a creator but... I'm thinking if this game was exactly the same but Han Solo it would be like +100% hype right?
@Contimaloris Nah I can see why they did it this way. They aren't locked to any canon and can do or go wherever they like, for example they could do the Jabba scene and have you see Han in the carbonite. I'm sure there will be a lot of Easter eggs and sites that we'll notice from the original trilogy. Ubisoft is good at that world building and history type stuff, hope they do it in this game. That being said I will probably get it when it has the first price drop and bugs are worked.
@ChrisDeku Season passes are tricky. They already have the money, so they know how little they can spend on the DLC. There's no risk anymore, but also no reason to entice people to buy it whenever everyone already bought it.
I've really enjoyed how immersive and vast Ubisoft's game have been recently, even if I've been less keen on the amount of filler, but the trailer for this looks astonishing and it's the first time I've been truly excited by Star Wars since around 1990.
@ChrisDeku For sure, the early access is a frustrating trend. Paying extra for early access never tempts me; 3 days is a blink and it amazes me people don’t have patience to wait that long. I guess if one is wanting the extra stuff in the Ultimate or Gold edition anyways, then early access is an added bonus, but it still floors me.
I said it over on the other article about the confusion of these different editions and passes, but even season passes / battle passes seems so egregious to me on a game that’s months away and has no previews or real solid information about how it plays. It’s like a glorified kickstarter project by giving money to help a struggling creator finish their work. I’m not sure Ubisoft needs the added patronage.
