Silent Hill 2 PS5

The PS5 remake of Silent Hill 2 has taken one step closer to its reported 2024 release as the ESRB has handed the title a Mature age rating. Generally awarded near the completion of a game's development, the USA firm warns of blood and gore, language, sexual themes, and violence throughout the experience from Bloober Team. A trailer published by Sony at the start of 2024 pegged Silent Hill 2 with a 2024 release window, and this new update could signal that's still on the cards.

The description published by the ESRB goes on to provide a brief overview of what's to come from Konami: "This is a horror adventure game in which players assume the role of a man returning to a mysterious town while being tormented by his past. From a third-person perspective, players explore the town of Silent Hill, interact with characters, and battle humans and creatures (e.g., Pyramid Head, mannequins, monsters).

It then calls out specific violent scenes, like characters being impaled, another person suffocated to death with a pillow, and enemies with body parts sewn onto them. There are then strip club scenes with characters pole-dancing, and then separately, dialogue discussing one's sexuality and abuse. Finally: "The word sh*t appears in the game."
