After going silent for a while, Black Myth: Wukong has resurfaced with a new trailer, unveiled at the recent WeGame showcase and courtesy of IGN. The PS5 action game continues to look bananas, and we won't have much longer to wait to get our grasping paws on it, as it's out on the 20th August on PS5.
Developed by Game Science, a studio that previously succeeded with mobile games 100 Heroes and Red Tides, Black Myth will be its first foray into the console space, an origin story it shares with Stellar Blade's Shift Up. It certainly looks like it could scratch a similar itch, but it remains to be seen whether Game Science can similarly stick the landing; while combat looks compelling and will feature spectacle set-piece battles, the resolution seems fuzzy in the trailers we've seen, and we hope it performs well from a technical perspective.
What do you think of Black Myth: Wukong? Can you believe it's finally coming out so soon? Go absolutely bananas in the comments section below.

Not a single mention of the widely reported sexism issues within the studio. Perhaps why they went dark for a while there.
Wow, I thought this game had already come and gone. Not for me though, playing as a monkey is not my bag.
I hope it's as good as the press claims so far. It looks nothing short of breathtaking. Also always down for chinese mythology!
@nessisonett we also need another update for the ActivisionBlizzard scandal by gamings favourite z¡on¡st and Epste¡n friend Bobby Kotick.
@Icey664 go cyborg waifus!!!
Looks cool, will probably buy it if it gets a physical release.
Is this a Souls Like game? And if so will there be an difficulty options?.
Waiting for it for a few years, hope they're done changing the launch date this time.
All the trailers they've shown until now were impressive... and since at least 1 year ago they've even shown quite a few actual gameplay videos, which is rare these days.
The setting, the graphics, the enemy design, the combat, the story... it definitely has a lot going for it. If they can land it properly, it's gonna be epic!
I'll be there at launch to give it a go.
I'm really looking forward to playing this. It's been on the radar for a long time!
There are no pre orders and there isn't even a placeholder in the PS Store...
Is that not incredibly weird???
@PerpetualBoredom Hell yeah!!!
@Ravix
I don't understand anything about this game.
Seems like 3 of these came and went. One was Team Ninjas Wo Long (just looked it up for the title), the other one i don't know and this still has to come out lol.
Gotta say this monkey one had me hyped the most, but very strange release
@Specky I think these gaming journalists should investigate why there is no pre orders, or page mentioning the game in the store tbh. Pragmata even has a placeholder and that has clearly been in development hell for years. There is a slight mention that the game is probably on steam in the steam store, and that is about it.
As soon as AC Shadows was named and shown, bam! pre orders go live.
I don't know if any other game that has been due out in a few months ever used this... "tactic"?
Bold move using a high school marching band for the OST. Kidding, kinda. But yeah, this looks great.
@Ravix why does it need investigating? I’m just curious as it’s not like they are scamming people with orders or anything?
@Ravix
AC is a huge franchise though. It's crap, but people buy it and know what to expect.
Black Myth seems kinda sketchy tbh. Feels like a weird fever dream.
Either another delay or it turns out it was all a huge scam lol
Black myth wukong always looks amazing.this game is going excellent.word up son
I'm quietly optimistic, I desperately want it to; release when it says it will, be of quality and worth my time. I don't know if it's my age or what, but even Dragon's Dogma 2 which I was really excited for, has left me somewhat deflated after the initial 20 or so hours - the spell has broken. And this seems to happen to me more and more of late. I get more enjoyment going back and playing Fromsoft souls games on repeated runs.
@LikelySatan I was confused by the 1998 soundtrack as well. Quite a choice
@PsBoxSwitchOwner investigate as in find out why you can't buy the game or why there is no mention of it in the ps store. Not like a panorama investigation to find some kind of wrong doing 😅
Like I said, it just strikes me as weird I can't even wishlist the game on PS. Does that not strike you as slightly weird when it is due out in a few months?
@Specky I kind of half expect them to come out last minute and say "PC release only" or something like that 😅 or they are trying to pit xbox and Sony to try and get one of them to pay for exclusivity even this close to release to cover their asses if it sucks
@Ravix truthfully no. Didn’t burning shore expansion only become available to buy a month before?
@Ravix While it’s not available to pre order it does at least have some official recognition from PlayStation: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/games/black-myth-wukong/
Maybe they haven’t decided on a price yet. System Shock is out tomorrow and there’s no pre order/digital price for that either and I’m pretty sure some Indie games haven’t even appeared on the store until they release. I’m not too worried about it being a scam, more worried about it not living up to expectations!
Crazy how far the Ape Escape series has evolved
This looks stunning. I have been looking forward to this game for ages.
Mind you, I got it confused with Wo Long, so that did not help.
I shall definitely pick the game up once it comes along. This is something else that I have waited seemingly ages for, so I can wait a little bit more.
If the game is based on the Chinese story “Monkey” or “A Journey to the West”, then I recall a PS3 game called “Odyssey” previously based on the same story. Am I right?
I’m staying hopeful this turns out as well as stellar blade did.
@Ravix true, highly suspicious
I think we are still scratching the surface of what UE5 can do on PS5. Can't wait to play this game
