Dynasty Warriors is making a rather grand-looking return in 2025 on PS5. It's fair to say that the Koei Tecmo and Omega Force series fell off a cliff with Dynasty Warriors 9 — a deeply flawed release — but this so-called Dynasty Warriors Origins looks like a significant step forward, especially in the graphics department.
What's more, this doesn't seem to be your typical Dynasty Warriors experience. It looks like you'll be playing as one lead character who can wield a bunch of different weapons, possibly journeying through the Three Kingdoms storyline as an unnamed protagonist.

The DW games used a horrendous engine that had crap fps all over them. This seems that they finally got a better one.
Hopefully it’s good, I got a little burnt out on last few titles.
I noticed it only said ps5… exclusive?
Koei Tecmo is finally making a Next Gen Warriors game and I hope they do the same for Samurai Warriors after this. They decided to to a remake of the SW series a few years ago so I assume that this game is a complete remake of the Dynasty Warrior franchise.
I do wonder if it's just one character you play as or if you join a specific Kingdom and do missions for the Hero's/Villains of the era. As a huge Warriors fan I'm interested to see what this game actually is.
Never played a musou game before but this looks like a great entry point for me to jump in.
@3Stock_Samwise I'd recommend jumping in with one of the Warriors Orochi games since you get Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors characters in one game. Warriors Orochi 4 would be a good start.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Nope. Coming for PC and XSX/S as well.

@anoyonmus Xbox does the same thing as so dont cry about it. 😁
That trailer was awesome. I'll try to keep my expectations in check, but after Dynasty Warriors 9, the series has nowhere to go but up.
Warriors games are always good "junkfood" games for me. Just shut your brain off and have fun. Really great to do that once in a while. Whatever the gimmick here has me intrigued, so I have my eye on this.
My heart lept when I realised it was clearly Dynasty Warriors at play in what looks to be a solid engine and fluid motion. Maybe they could finally redeem themselves for the mess of DW9 after such a long wait.
Then my heart started to sink wondering "okay this new character looks fun to play despite his boring visual design, but when are they going to show someone else?"
And then they dropped the tale of the nameless protaganist and "Origins", the most trite of subtitles, and I simultaneously lost both hope and interest.
@Savage_Joe lol was gonna say how horrible this looks too.. choppy a$$ Japanese crap
Not my cup of tea but I have a buddy that is gonna lose her mind over this.
I am so ready for this series to redeem itself
The only “Warrior-esque” type game I’ve played was Persona 5 Strikers. I absolutely adored it. So I’ll give this one a chance. It looked fun
I'm a big sucker for the warrior games, although generally the crossover ones. But this, wow, looks like a good frigging time. I was on their wikipedia list the other day after a Hyrule Warriors binge wondering what they're up to.
I never jammed the mainline games, does anyone have any recommendations for those across different platforms?
@NinjaNicky
I think it's going to be kinda like the Samurai Warriors Chronicles subseries. Created protagonist but you can use other characters too.
Looks like Dynasty Warriors is doing a Wo Long.
Never played a Dynasty Warriors game for more than 10 minutes but I was impressed with the graphical glow up on this compared to previous games.
My first Dynasty Warriors experience was on a PlayStation 2 demo disc I got a few months after the console came out. It had a demo for Dynasty Warriors 2. My friends and I put so much time in to that demo - it was incredible. I went on to buy a bunch of DW games that generation and have a whole lot of fun with them, but it started to get stale after several releases made very small, very incremental changes. I hope this one makes me feel 14 again. Really looking forward to seeing more.
They have my attention. Need more details though.
Musou is one of those genres that I wish I liked but every time I play one I get so bored. Maybe one day one will click with me.
