The director of the Mad Max franchise, George Miller, thinks the world is ready for another video game adaptation. Still, only a game made at "the highest level" will suffice, made by someone like, say, auteur creator Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid, Death Stranding fame.
Considering that Kojima is himself on record describing George Miller as a God (and the Mad Max saga, his own personal Bible), this looks like a match made in heaven, at least on paper. Unfortunately, Miller said that he would "never ask" the legendary game designer to craft such a game because he's confident that Kojima has "so much fantastic stuff in his own head". GAMINGbible captured the will they/won't they moment on the red carpet for the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiere.
Miller admits that the last video game outing for the franchise, 2015's Mad Max, just "wasn't as good as I wanted it to be". We hope that Miller, or at least one of his associates, can get the two cinematic geniuses together to work on something. We know it would make Kojima so happy.

Oof. I don't know that Kojima is capable of pulling back and just making a good game, but I'd like to be proven wrong.
This is as good a time as any to mention that Furiosa is excellent and you should go see it.
Kojima definitely isn't my first choice for Mad Max. I don't know that I would even discredit the recent Mad Max game; that seemed to be about the best game you could get outta the IP.
But I guess I'm not an insanely talented artist, so maybe I just lack imagination.
This is like gut to the punch for Avalanche team.
It's very underrated
@adit365 Yeah... The Avalanche studio's founder was not happy at all with George Miller comment on their game.
It would probably take forever to make if he asked him to do it 🙄
@adit365 definetly, bad choice of words by Miller
@RoomWithaMoose Personally, I loved the game! Was one of my COVID-era gems and it gave me more than I hoped for. Give it a shot, folks! Super cheap to be had btw
@Enuo I'm planning on watching that and especially because of Anya Taylor Joy
I’m seeing the film next Friday and can’t wait!
I loved the Mad Max game, I thought it was fantastic and still do!
Kojima would add too much weird to Mad Max. Its kinda weird anyway but not Kojima level weird.
Mad Max video game would be good if it didn't feature Mad Max as the main character just like the new George Miller movie does it.
Nah, Avalanche's game is pure gameplay. Kojima would add 15 hours of non skippable cutscenes. Max hardly talks anyway. You'd think there would have been a PS5 patch to bring the current game upto 60fps etc. a Furiosa tie in.
Eww

Went back to finish off the platinum on Mad Max last year… awesome game!
It seems the underrated mad max game is now overrated.
@adit365
That Mad Max game had NO right to be as good as it was.
Sometimes I really miss that game and if its platinum wasn't that hard, I'd jump back in for a second playthrough. That game REALLY needs a sequel ffs.
@Steel76
Kojima can be cringe with its cutscenes, but at least he's making some of the most unique, detailed, beautiful and just plain best games in the industry with flushed out gameplays. MGS might be the absolute best franchise out there. It is for me.
In a sea of absolute mediocre uninspired Ubisoft garbage, even his smallest creation PT is better thann anything Ubisoft has released pretty much ever.
And judging by PT, he can do different genres
I love the first 2 mad max movies. The third was way too Hollywood and sterile for me. Tom Hardy outing was great fun and I really enjoyed it but mad max to me was the first movie and the whole dark, dystopian atmosphere and revenge narrative. Avalanches game was really good fun but I'd like a mad max game based around the story of the original movie where you get to hunt down the toe cutter and his cronies..who wouldn't want to handcuff somebody to a car that's going to go boom with a hacksaw (mine would have a blunt blade) and only 2 options to saw through...
Please no. I really don't want Mad Max game with 5 hours of cutscenes
I remember getting Mad Max and MGSV around the same time, I literally couldn't stop playing the former
I'm all for Kojima exploring the weirder side of Max's world. The reverence he has for the series would probably lead some super distilled take on Max as a fable.
@adit365 I was really surprised at how much I love the Avalanche game. It's just a really well realized Mad Max game. I remember that it had some cringe mtx BS when it came out, but I wish I would have picked it up back at release. Still wonderful these days though.
I'd rather a sequel to the already great mad max game rather then kojima doing weird kojima things all over it by making it slightly incomprehensible and hours of cutscenes
@PegasusActual93 the last like 2 hours of death Stranding was essentially a cut scene though with a little bit of movement on a beach in between
@MrMagic Mad Max has always had plenty of people who thought it was great, myself included.
Most of it's detractors seem to be people from the 'i hate open world games now' bandwagon.
@Steel76 You pretty much nailed the essence of Kojima. His head is too far up his own ass.
@Balosi The game is good but it was never great.
I've been a gamer long enough to see this happen for quite a few games. They come out get a lukewarm reception and the majority of people who play the game think it was just okay/good then fast forward a few years and people start claiming the game is great.
@colonelkilgore I thought the platinum was unobtainable now??
@IamJT aye it is… unless you pulled out all the stops to get the online requirement done during the week prior to the servers being closed 😉
Mad Max was a great game, Kojima is a seething
I'd love to see his silent hill project to until... drama incident.
I really enjoyed Mad Max game by Avalanche Studio and i thought it was a great adaptation, especially the car combat and customization. The only elements that i think they can do better are the melee combat, exploration, and side quest.
But a Mad Max game by Kojima? I'm definitely gonna play it. But i don't think Kojima ever make a game adaptation based on movies / comic / anime. So it's probably not gonna happen...
I'm down if they are.
I enjoyed the ps4 game. I think i nearly platinum'ed it. Must have 90 something %.
I am by no means a trophy hunter and i don't do stupid trophies. That was all just enjoying the game.
If he wants one better, how could i not be down for it?
@colonelkilgore Did you manage to get the Platinum? I was scuppered by the glitched container that meant I couldn’t complete the collection.
Glad to see the original Mad Max game getting some love on here. It got a lot of flak at the time for being repetitive, but I liked the rhythm of the game. And the combat, both on foot and on wheels, was wonderfully solid and crunchy! If you’ve never played it, give it a go. Must hit the sales regularly by now surely?
@MrMagic Projecting a bit there mate. I’m with @Balosi on this. It was and still is a great game. Fully recommend people give it a go today.
@Andywax yeah I got it but was anxious the whole time through as there was a few things that could prevent the one trophy (of which the online requirement was part of) from popping. T’was a satisfying one for sure!
