The hugely successful launch of Sea of Thieves on PS5 this week fulfilled Microsoft’s commitment to Sony’s system, following its widely publicised business update earlier in the year. During that broadcast, boss Phil Spencer focused on four titles: Rare’s aforementioned seafaring release, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment. All of the aforementioned are now officially available.
So, what’s next? Well, the rumour mill is churning once more, with Windows Central scribe Jez Corden among the thick of things. According to his speculation, as shared on ResetEra, all future first-party franchises could eventually make the transition to PS5 – including Halo and Forza Horizon. There have also been rumours of Gears of War.
While nothing is written in stone here, Microsoft itself is certainly making similar noises. During a financial briefing earlier in the year, CEO Satya Nadella boasted about his company’s success on the PS Store, and affirmed the Redmond firm’s commitment to “meeting players where they are”. It’ll be interesting to see which games it reveals for PS5 next – and when they’re coming.

Seeing Halo on PS would be mind blowing and wild, its one of those games you never once thought would appear on anything that isn't Xbox and PC.
If the Master Chief Collection or a Gears collection hit PS, I'd definitely check them out eventually. Rare Replay would be a cool one too. It would be surreal to see as those are tentpole Xbox franchises and truly solidify the new direction Microsoft is heading in.
The only Xbox Franchise I'm genuinely interested in is the Forza games. I just have no interest in any of their other so called big hitters.
The Crew Motorfest is a decent and thoroughly enjoyable game but it still doesn't quite match up to the Brilliance of Forza horizon (insert any number here)

Until something is officially announced I really don’t see the point in posting at least a weekly story about some “insider” taking a guess at which game Microsoft is going to port next, because that’s all there is currently, guesses and speculation.
@IOI Also it is Jez Corden and with him it is always 50-50 with accuracy where next week he'll suddenly revise his stance or say it was taken out of context.

Edit: if someone told me back when Halo 3 was fresh that this might be a thing I would have laughed. How far Halo and Xbox have fallen since then.

I'd love to try Halo and Gears! At some point I need to pick up an Xbox to play Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break and as I wouldn't imagine they would ever come over!

At this point I’ve just accepted that not even Microsoft knows what they’re doing with their multiplatform plans. It doesn’t really affect me tho, there aren’t really any Xbox games I wanna play after Hi-Fi Rush besides some legacy stuff like older Halo titles and Rare Replay.
I would buy every single one of those games in a heartbeat on PlayStation, throw Killer Instinct in there as well! Xbox has some fantastic ips even if you only want to count the ones pre-acquisitions.
A Gears collection for all platforms, I would be there day one.

I hope this doesn’t happen to be honest, even if it is inevitable. Just my opinion. Do people want Nintendo to do the same? That would be horrible too. Each should continue with their first party identity.

Although more choice for us gamers is always going to be a good thing, I cannot actually see the logic in this.
Surely porting Halo, Gears, Forza, etc, to PS5 - yes it would improve software sales - but would it not just stop new people from buying Xbox consoles?

It will be a re-release with new reviews when it comes to PS5. And sort of second chance for the game.
Admittedly the updates coming etc seem to be making the game a lot better than on release.

I mean... If I had any interest in these games I'd own an Xbox. Them being on PlayStation doesn't really move the dial for me.
Well, Microsoft does not own many must have exclusives. I'd like to play some recent Gears games and also the forza series though. But that'a about it. If they had managed to expand their quality portfolio, they would not have found themselves in this mess in the first place.

I can live without XB exclusives - I have done since switching from 360 to PS4 at the dawn of the last generation - but if they were to bring anything to PS5 I'd probably buy:
1. Gears 1-3 collection;
2. Halo 1-3 collection;
3.Fable 1-3 collection;
4. Hellblade 2;
5. Sunset Overdrive;
6. Ori series.
Like I say, I have tonnes to play as things stand, so not particularly desperate for any of these. Half of them I'd only want to pick up for nostalgia purposes.
I'm looking for specific titles from MS's library...

What I think would come to PS are multiplayer only games. And lower budget single player games. The big xbox games will most likely stay on xbox and pc.
Xbox is basically gamepass and publisher now. Their consoles are doing even worse than previous gen despite the much cheaper Xbox S option and the notoriety associated with xbox one. Personally, I could not care less about their games release, owned Xbox series S for about a year but I don't finish a single game.
You can't blame Microsoft for wanting to actually sell their games. Game Pass is a losing business model.
As an Xbox owner I don't particularly like it purely because I feels like I wasted money owning 2 consoles.
But it is what it is, I know not to buy an Xbox in future

I think there are plenty of different folks who might be interested in some titles and not others. My previous post indicated that Microsoft is a publisher now, 'meeting players where they are'. And are awarded shiny stickers of recommendation from salesmen all over. 😂 That doesn't make them any better than the multitudes of quality games out there.

All the posters disclaiming this as “rumors and speculation” were doing the same thing before the last Xbox to PS announcement. Phil appeased their tiny brains by saying that Starfield was not a part of the four games which had been leaked but not confirmed.
Well, the four games have released and have done well enough that the Xbox “vault” is now open. Xbox is now a third party publisher with a console that may have timed exclusivity. Xbox Owners can use GamePass to get all first party titles at subscription prices. PS owners can pick and choose what is worth buying a license for. The caveat is that PS owners also get to pick and choose from the PlayStation catalog, which has always been much stronger.

@HonestHick hmmm...thats a reach dude. Well have to wait and see for the showcase, but I don't think most people are going to see that blue heart as something COD related. It seems way more as a hint for PlayStation fans to watch the showcase to me.
@Ken_Kaniff i mean it’s possible, but i could easily say it’s a reach to think at a Xbox event they are going to go on stage and promote PS. Thats not to say some more games might not swing over to PS5. But i doubt in front of its fans they are going to say oh and day and date on PS also. Remember this is the first time in history ABK, MS and Bethesda are all under the same show together. I would like to think it’s going to be to build excitement around that and not PS. I could be wrong. It’s easier to be wrong in this industry than right. 😊
But we know COD is getting a huge showing at this show and that is for sure day one on PS. June can’t get here fast enough. I’m ready to see some games, and games running on UE5 at that.

For the Sony show. I would guess we will see the PS5 Pro which is exciting for me. There are heavy rumors of the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster which i think is kind of strange seeing as that game still looks and runs well on backwards compatibility. But it seems Sony is in remaster mode until their new heavy hitters are ready.
Microsoft gonna be the new SEGA soon....

I think the only other Xbox exclusive I'm holding out for is State of Decay. I played a month of gamepass on mobile and it was one game that had me coming back for more.

All of the games mentioned above will probably run better on PS5 than Xbox.
This isn’t meant as fanboy rhetoric, as I own a PS5 and Series X. The less-powerful PS5 usually just has fewer bugs and seems better-optimized. I’m currently playing Star Wars: Jedi Survivor on Game Pass. It’s an incredible game, but the whole time I have been thinking that if I buy it, it will be on PS5.
