Concord, the PS5 and PC shooter from new Sony team Firewalk Studios, will deploy in 2024 – at least, that’s the plan according to a business briefing from the Japanese giant. While the firm notes that release schedules are always subject to change, it included the title’s tentative launch window in a live service slide alongside Destiny 2: The Final Shape, which is due out on 6th June.
Frankly, there’s not a lot known about Concord right now. Sony did show a cinematic teaser trailer during last year’s PS Showcase, but it stopped short of sharing any specific details, beyond the fact that this is a PvP shooter set in a sci-fi world. “Every time you log on is the beginning of a new adventure and every match is an opportunity for a new story,” director Ryan Ellis said at the time. “It’s these ideals that define Concord, its unique universe of vibrant worlds, and its rich cast of colourful characters.”
Presumably we’re going to see a lot more of the title in the coming months, especially if it’s targeting a 2024 launch. Sony will be feeling confident about the release’s chances, though: Helldivers 2, a title with a similar live service strategy, is now officially the firm’s fastest-selling game of all time.

Really intrigued by this one. Seems like it'll have a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe to it. And hopefully with ex Bungie Devs on the team, they can bring a high quality shooter without Destiny 2's bloat.
Hopefully Concord can be a massive hit like HellDivers 2, just make it fun to play, not riddled with MTX and have a lower price point in the £35-£45 range and it will do fine.
PvP just makes my death quick, as everyone is just better prepped for the games than I can be bothered. But let's hope others have a great time and it doesn't just bomb as there are already too many.
Disappointed that it's PvP 💩
Helldivers showed that a live service game done well has a big audience on PS5, and I'll be honest this was always the one I was most excited for, purely because I love the kind of sci fi aesthetic they're going for. Cautiously optimistic for this one and can't wait to see more
I hope it has a good showing. The cinematic trailer was literally the most useless piece of advertising I've ever seen but I'm still intrigued to see how it ends up playing.
@Korgon I'm still baffled by that trailer.
All the original teaser showed was a certain aesthetic (which I actually liked a lot).
I don't expect to get into a PvP shooter like I did into Helldivers but I do hope it's a good one.
It will be 1 year since that trailer next week btw
Hopefully it’s more interesting to me personally than Helldivers, which frankly baffles me in its popularity. Seems like a slightly above average live service game to me, sort of grindy, and all that, but hey I can’t stand Apex or Fortnite, so maybe I’m just the wrong demographic for it. But I’ve sort of questioned my sanity seeing Helldivers blow up, having played a decent amount of hours and feeling very… just ok… with it.
I expect we’ll see more about Fairgames soon too, as I got a survey in my email about it last week.
So uh, the only game coming out the rest of this year from Sony then?
I don't have high hopes for this whatsoever but would like to be proven wrong. Not so long ago though, people hated extraction shooters. Then I see someone on here saying PvE is boring but no doubt ate up Helldivers at launch so... Narrative changes again.
Let's see if Firewalk make good on it. Main worry stems from seeing absolutely no gameplay, only a vague and pointless CGI trailer and yet it's scheduled to release this year. That's not a good start by any metric.
So far they haven't showed anything. Not holding out hope for anything worth my time. I don't expect Concord to be anywhere near as generous towards the player when it comes to mtx like Helldivers 2. I mean fundamentally, the mtx in Helldivers 2 are a joke. I mean that in a good way for the player. Most live service aren't even close to that and it's kinda unrealistic to expect something similar from Concord.
I have serious doubts Concord will be the enormous success Helldivers 2 is, but I'm curious to see what it looks like and how it does.
@nessisonett there's the Until Dawn remake too, which makes it at least 2
Unless that no longer releases in 2024
Just make sure to put in the advertising or sale page for those who struggle to read PSN ACCOUNT REQUIRED TO PLAY ON PC
where’s twisted metal
@Voltan I forgot that was happening. Utterly pointless.
Certainly excited about the potential of this game with the past work of the team and PS studio’s live service game output so far. Only thing I wish is that it has some type of single player campaign.
Give me Warframe in a persistant universe ala Star Citizen, chuck in a dash of RPGing and exploration, mix in a bit of mos eisely cateen action and maybe a smattering of Alien xenomorphic horror and I'm sold
@somnambulance It's just a purely fun game my man. Taking out alien bugs and terminators with massive explosions to protect Super Earth is just a great time. Especially with friends where it becomes hilarious to accidentally kill your buddy with a drop pod.
@Nepp67 My friend group never coalesced on this one. We all tried it, but never at the same time and only one person that I know got really into it. Playing with randoms, I thought it was sort of boring. I’ve put in maybe a half dozen hours or so now, but it still hasn’t clicked with me. And I’m honestly sort of scratching my head how the game’s been as well received as it has been. I mean, Dragon’s Dogma and Like a Dragon don’t click with me either, but I get it. Helldivers is sort of mystifying to me though, especially when people tend to rip live service games apart.
Now, granted, I’m pretty removed from multiplayer experiences. I’ll play a fighting game when people are over or Mario Party, whatever, but I haven’t actively played anything online on a regular basis since I think 2021. Could be part of it, but, given that it’s got the most GotY buzz of any game right now, I feel like I really want to understand, you know?
Oh boy another online only live service multiplayer game. Because we don't have enough of those.
@nessisonett unless they have a sequel planned down the line.
This is a strong candidate to shadow drop/get an "available now" announcement during the showcase. I believe there was some sizzle reel type trailer from the start of the year that seemed to show the games off in release order that would've placed Concord around June. It's all lining up.
@Areus Surely then they could have just made the sequel? The first one’s playable on PS5, it seems like a bit of a waste of resources.
@nessisonett it could have been more for ballistic moons benefit to help them get more familiar with the ps5.
I wonder how many live service games can be active at once and still maintain successful levels of engagement. Juggling two live service games would probably be my max, and the time split between would restrict leveling up.
@lacerz it’s about finding the right niche. Helldivers is completely different than Destiny. Need to find that core niche and execute on it well. Main problem with announced games I think is fairgames and marathon. If both are in that “extraction” style of live service game.
