Team Ninja has announced in a new PlayStation Blog post that PS5 exclusive Rise of the Ronin will take an update later this week that bundles in new missions, features, and gameplay enhancements. There's going to be five Ally Missions to complete, dojo training partners, a level sync selection feature, and more added via the PS5 patch.
The full list of updates via the PlayStation Blog is as follows:

- Level sync selection feature added to missions from Testament of the Soul.
- Two new Set Bonuses added to Midnight difficulty.

- Add Martial Skill type bonus and raise limit of target score.
Gameplay Improvements
- When equipped with the same weapon type on weapons 1 and 2, the number of styles can be expanded to a maximum of 6.

- Changed the specifications so that greetings with characters after a breakup will return to normal over time.
- Adjusted to make it easier for asynchronous characters to be selected.
Released earlier this year in March, the PS5 title from Team Ninja didn't exactly set the world on fire critically or commercially. While it's said to be selling better than the Nioh series, there's been little mention of it past launch. In our Rise of the Ronin PS5 review, we called it an "inferior version of everything it's inspired by". Does this update inspire you to boot the game up again? Let us know in the comments below.

Glad to see it's still getting updates. I really loved this game so I'd definitely be up for more content. Hoping for a future performance update though 🙏
Just in time for me getting the game, got my copy coming Friday and can't wait to jump in.
The only thing stopping my purchase of this game is that i still hear stuttering and frame rate drops are still present (performance mode - i dont care about the others).
At launch it didnt seem insurmountable at all, with a a bit of optimisation, based on tech analysis by DF/ign.
Most people I respect online enjoy the game. Getting it at some point.
Still waiting for a price drop before I bite.
as with most games now days i will play it when its finished
@trev666 my man!
Nice update! I enjoyed this one enough to get the platinum for it. It takes too long to settle into itself but once it does, it offers a deeply satisfying gameplay experience.
You should be calling this a solid game that's worth playing.
Also
"When equipped with the same weapon type on weapons 1 and 2, the number of styles can be expanded to a maximum of 6."
Hell yea.
@Jimmer-jammer oh nice, how does it compare to other games like Ghost of Tsushima.
I know people have it a harsh time because it didn't match Ghost graphically but it's not really fair to compare Team Ninja with a Sony first party studio.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the review this website gave the game was criminal, maybe they were tired or something after all the hours wasted killing orcs on the roadside in DD2🤣
"Update coming this week".. yeah, I downloaded it a few hours ago so, it already "came"
@Uromastryx 100% agree with you!!
@Uromastryx Yeah and they keep trying to roast it in every article.
OK, PushSquare, we get it, your one reviewer believes it's an "inferior version of everything it's inspired by" which goes against the consensus where all player reviews are positive and the game has had a far higher player retention rate than Dragon's Dogma 2.

@TruestoryYep I'd belive that, Rise has outstanding combat, styles, weapons etc. And nice challenge later on with nightmare missions, top tier gear to be had, I hoping for some quality story dlc in the future đź‘Ť
"Oh an orc, so random"🤣🤣
@SuperJag86 Not many games can compare favourably to Ghost of Tsushima’s presentation! From my perspective, the two games are driven by completely different design philosophies. How I see it:
GoT aims for immersion, blending cinematic spectacle and straightforward, easily digestible systems in a gorgeously rendered world. Everything works in service of the player connecting directly with Jin and introspectively ruminating on the themes resulting from his inner conflict while stylistically paying homage to a specific genre of film. Its dynamite for what it is.
RotR is first and foremost a video game and has far more going on in it than GoT. It’s a direct open world translation of Team Ninja’s dopamine drip of systems driven, highly customizable, incredibly responsive action heavy gameplay. Everything works in service of player expression, with its “bond” system being the engine underneath it all. Without going on too long here, not everything it attempts fully comes together, thus I’d be hard pressed to call it the better game, but it comes together where I think it matters most as an action rpg.
Edit: also, since I don’t believe they get near enough credit, RotR’s audio design and score are phenomenal.
i'll buy this game eventually just like so many people i still have a pretty decent amount of games i still have to finish up before i even think of starting anything new.
The game is great I was absolutely loving it. But I can't express my disappointment that I've dropped the game. I was looking forward to it for so long but this is the only Team Ninja game I've played where I've experienced Frame Pacing and Stuttering issues. It's so present that it really turns me off the game. I truly hope they can fix this sooner rather than later.
This game is awesome. Thankfully i didn't take Push Square's review seriously and bought the game Day 1...best decision i ever made. And i skipped DD2 (a game this website was praising a lot when it launched), second best decision i ever made. Nowadays i tend to ignore all the reviews from this website and just read the news, third best decision i ever made
