Ubisoft has revealed that Season 2 of Skull and Bones is coming, thanking players for what the developer/publisher called a "tremendous response" to the game's maiden voyage. It was thought that the game had been struggling due to steep discounts, introduced soon after launch, but it appears the company has managed to turn the ship.
In a blog post, Ubisoft unveiled a proclamation for the game's future, describing what potential pirates can expect to see in future, but not before thanking the players that made it possible: "Let us begin by saying how amazing it has been for all of us working on Skull and Bones to witness the tremendous response from our entire community since the launch of our game...It is thanks to your incredible engagement that we were able, throughout Season 1, to observe, listen, understand, and, more importantly, react to your feedback on a weekly basis."
In its latest financial update, Ubisoft failed to mention how many full-priced copies of Skull and Bones have been sold so far (thanks, IGN) but impressively revealed that it drove "strong engagement." Notching up the second-best daily playtime for a Ubisoft game, with the average session lasting four hours in the weeks following launch, Ubisoft put this late-breaking stickiness down to end-game content added in Season 1.
We enjoyed our time with Skull and Bones and are glad the game seems to have found its sea legs. Are you surprised to see a "tremendous response" to the game following its first season? Let us know in the comments section below.

Suddenly I'm in the Mood to play Black Flag again..
The 3 people still playing will be happy
I think there is an extra letter at the end of player in the headline that needs removing.
I know everyone will be mean but after all the struggles the development has gone through, I am happy for the many many developers who suffered to get this game out.
Ah yes, that "tremendous response" that made it one of the fastest half-price sales that I've ever seen from a Ubi title on PSN.
I watched a short stream of it on release, and couldn't justify trying it when I could get the same kicks from Black Flag, without any other players trying to grief me. If it hadn't spent so long in development, maybe the result wouldn't feel so stale, but who knows.
It's not for me but I am glad to see it wasn't a massive flop. If they are going ahead with a season 2 there must be a big enough player base to warrant it so it must be more popular than people think.
Thanks to the tremendous support from our 16 players, you are amazing!
It'll be on ps+ before Christmas and will be dead by this time next year.
Keep telling lies and eventually you might start to believe it yourself.
"We really hope that all of the players that switched to Sea of Thieves, which is still in the top seller's chart weeks after release, come back to play our final season" 😬😬😬
A season or two of content was probably in the contract with the Singapore government. Nothing to see here...
@Enigk More like plAAAAyer
@breakneck Yeah very tuff imagine they got paid for 11 years for that dumpster fire. The only tuff part was listening to DEI nonsense and sleeping at their desk for 9 of the 11 years.
I think I might try their demo. If they still have a demo. Just wondering is it PvP or can I play without worrying about other players attacking me?
@CutchuSlow there are pvp modes, but for the overworld you can turn PVP on and off.
@soracloud28 oh ok thank you
@Enigk damn, that's a third degree burn
@Bamila After 87 years in development it needed a few more to add another A or two to the title. It would then lead to COD and Fortnite shutting down as they couldn't compete.
Glad it's doing well and has found an audience. Hate all the fake gamers who wants games to fail
@Korgon Or they already had the stuff ready to go and want to try and drum up more players by releasing it with fanfare.
So people paid for a game that Ubisoft will eventually render unplayable?
People truly love burning money.
"tremendous response"
Sir we know you're lying, even the couple of people that played and liked it know you're lying so why say that? That just makes you look unhinged and delusional 😐
Even if you have a itch to play as a pirate you wouldn't be playing this game as you're just living the life of a pirate ship with a stamina bar! there's a far superior pirate game out now that's way better and way cheaper too.
@breakneck
And how does that benefit the product for us as consumers? Another mediocre product. Great.
Imagine working years on something and your boss cuts corners, wants you to rush the product out the door ASAP meaning it won't be nowhere near as good as it could've been. That's the case with literally every Ubisoft game today. Garbage company. Good riddance
This game is trash and I will not be playing it anymore and i will no longer support Ubisoft while they make trash games like this and sells them at a higher price, So Ubisoft has lost me as a supporter and a fan for yrs because of their endless need to make trash games and think it's ok.
Wasnt there some legal agreement with the Singaporean government to not only finish the game but support it fully for 12 months? So its not like they are being generous with season 2, they have zero choice. Expect the game to go belly up at the 12 month mark..
Sounds like more damage control to me.
I will say the art direction for Skull & Bones is great.
If the rumored to be remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag turns out to be true I look forward to seeing the sales number difference between S&B and the Black Flag remake.
Something tells me Ubisoft will fail to share those numbers however.
I really hope the Black Flag remake is true, provided Ubisoft doesn't screw it up.
