Sony and developer Ballistic Moon have unveiled a gameplay trailer for the upcoming PS5 and PC remaster of Until Dawn. The beloved PS4 horror game is getting spruced up for modern machines, and it's looking good from what's been shown here.
In case you don't know, Until Dawn is a narrative-focused horror adventure. It frames itself as a teen horror/slasher movie, only you can influence what happens to each of the characters by making snap decisions. There are lots of paths to the ending, and who lives or dies hinges on your choices throughout the story.
We don't have a release date quite yet, but it has now been confirmed for Fall 2024. We wouldn't be surprised to see this arrive close to Halloween, as that's a no-brainer, surely. Will you be playing Until Dawn's new version? Let us know in the comments section below.

No comments on Until Dawn Remaster yet… why not be the first?
I dont know, maybe it's just me, but the remaster looked worse than the ps4 version...
@MegaManX-7
I am the same way. I will pay $10 to upgrade the game I already have, but I am not buying it again. I already can play it on my PS5. I love the game and recommend folks play it.
Define scarily good? Because in some areas it looks downright worse than the original lmao
I'm actually worried right now they're making the game worse. If a lot of those camera angles in the trailer are straight from the game's attempt to add new positions I think they're making it look worse. I replayed Until Dawn recently and it's even better than I recall, but I like the way they frame stuff. This trailer has pretty bad "cinematography" of the scenes in my opinion...
I hope Sony are paying for this level of shilling. This didn’t look impressive at all.
Are there any new ending or different choice for this remaster? If there's none at all then i don't get why Sony remaster this game, which already looks good on PS4, outside they want people to hype up for the movie adaptation (which is funny because the game already looks like a movie).
Absolutely unnecessary remaster, even more so than the other unnecessary remasters! The game already looks great on PS5 and like some have said it looks worse in some parts. Maybe I will consider a $10 upgrade if they show us what has been improved,.
All this ever needed was a PS5 performance patch, it runs like ass on PS4/Pro. Instead creatively bankrupt Sony pump out yet another pointless remaster.
Can't say I will get this since I still have the PS4 version, but it is a great game and highly recommend it!
Yet another pointless remaster.
A PS5 patch, would have been enough.
Have Sony forgotten, that the PS5, can play PS4 games?
Enough with the damn remasters.
@Steel76 Agreed it’s like the gaming industry as a whole has lost originality and new ideas.. any new ideas these days come in the form of crappy PvP games that are DOA
In my opinion Sony is just doing what they did with Last of Us Part I - updating one of their games to release on PC but making sure there is a PS5 version to placate their core audience.
It does look scary... It scares me how much worse it looks when compared to the OG during some sequences.
Anyways, I know we are getting this remaster because of PC version, but it wouldn't hurt to give us just a PS5 patch.
After how long it’s been since the original released, I’m not expecting an upgrade path for owners of the PS4 version.
Until Dawn is one of my favorite horror games though, so I intend to pick this up.
If you want this version and can’t budget for it between now and “fall,” I’m not sure what to say…
If there’s something you’re more excited about (or on your backlog) this fall and you’ve already played the OG, go for the new thing. Otherwise, wait for a sale? 😅
Great game, already played it to death. Sony was practically giving it away for $5 on PS4. So tired of remasters of games that came out on PS4.
@Crayven I came to the comment section looking to see if anyone else thought so.
Until Dawn was a fun time when first platted it in 2015 but this will be a no from me. Unless of course like others have said, it's a £10 upgrade path then yh it's a yes from me
Remasters of PS4 games screams creatively bankrupt.
Game plays fine on PS5 as it is. Love the game but hard pass.
0 change in comparison to the ps4 version. This (and horizon) has to be the most useless remaster ever
I thought this was going to use a new, over the shoulder camera angle for gameplay?
This looks exactly the same to me. I love the original but this just seems to be a complete waste of time.
Yeah, I don't think this looked particularly good to be honest
Free upgrade?
Hmm, I think I'll hang fire on this and wait for the remake of the remaster of the original for PS6. It will look way better by then
I noticed there were some new scenes in the trailer.
I remember when the original game was about to be released. I was on IGN and this guy commented "I'm pumped for Until Dawn!" and I replied "I'm going to pump myself until dawn!" .......Good times
Looks exactly the same as the original, and since it also releases on pc I guess its a 70$ game. Doubt it will be 10$ upgrade on ps5 and full price on pc. What a joke!
If the developers have done a serious graphical upgrade, then I would buy this straight away.
Until Dawn could become a showcase for how gorgeous a PS5 game can really be. Hopefully. Otherwise, why bother? Just buy the PS4 game.
Sure, I am fed up of seeing remasters of older games, but this could really be worthwhile.
Honestly it doesn't look much different
