Bubblegum zombie bludgeon-‘em-up Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will make its grand return on PS5 from 25th September as part of Dragami Games’ anticipated remake. The release will only be available digitally to begin with, but those holding out for a physical edition will be able to nab one in October, with more information scheduled to follow in due course.

“RePOP is a definitive version of the game which leaves the story unchanged, with the focus on quality-of-life improvements and additional gameplay content,” the press release reveals. “Watch Juliet, a descendant of zombie hunters, as she fights alongside her boyfriend and family to stop a zombie apocalypse starting in her high school.”
Improvements include enhanced visuals and loading times, as well as improved gameplay. Some of the mechanics that have been optimised include the timing of combos and the overall pace of attacks. The release will also add 30 costumes, a time attack mode, and RePOP visual filter, which “uses a unique and colourful pop art-inspired art style for damage effects”.
There’s a trailer embedded above which confirms the launch date and showcases some of the aforementioned features? Will you be cheering on the return of this release come 25th September? Shake your pom-poms in the comments section below.

Let's goooooooooooooo! One of my favourite PS3 games!
I haven't played this game in YEARS, but I'll gladly get this to replay it again.
I’m gonna wait for the physical release but can we have more PS3 games remastered for PS5, please.
I didn't get the chance to play this game on PS3. But i really miss that era where we got plenty of action games with arcade vibe. From Asura's Wrath, Bayonetta, NG 1-3, Killer is Dead, Shadow of the Damned, MGR Revengeance, Vanquish, DMC 4, GOW 3, etc.
Nowadays it feels like we got less and less this type of action games...
@PuppetMaster Sony Interactive-MovieStation 4 started a new wave like how the MCU started a new wave with movies. as if ubisofts open worlds weren’t bad enough , i miss linear action games with more focus on being video games than going so hard on a deep narrative, too .
I hope the soundtrack is left intact or at least mostly as is, also I'm happy about the costumes as there were a few that didn't make it to PS3 at least in the US. All that aside it's a easy day one! I had a blast on the PS3 version, I wish we got more games like this that are light on story but a blast to play.
@get2sammyb Suda was a roll on the ps3. Glad we are getting this and Shadows of the Damned. We need some Suda nonsense against all the gritty realism of other games lol
I wish it was getting a physical but definitely getting this day one.
Marketed as the "definitive version" despite having a completely new soundtrack with all the songs removed 🤣🤣
Heck yea, looking forward to this one as I missed it the first time around. I hope they add a photomode!
Such a good game, Suda absolutely knows how to balance the silly with the solid gameplay. I always forget James Gunn was involved too but it makes sense given that sequence from The Suicide Squad with Harley. Shame that neither of them were involved with this remaster!
@pip_muzz Yeah, it's a huge shame about the soundtrack.
@pip_muzz Wait every single song was removed 😳 even Lollipop, Hey Mickey, Nemesis and Needled 24/7!? Well that took my excitement down a couple of notches, there goes my full nostalgia trip 😔
@PuppetMaster What game series are you referring to when you said NG 1-3?
Oh awesome. Loved this back on ps3
@pip_muzz And half of its potential sales have now vanished.
So that's where the creator's of God of War (ps4) got their inspiration from for Mimir. Interesting!
@KidRyan Ninja Gaiden
@nomither6 We already had real "interactive movie" such as Dragon's Lair long before Sony decided to add cinematic cutscenes with movie quality for their PS4 games.
And Sony promoted linear action games for PS4 like Sifu which pretty much plays like a classic action beat em up. Or linear side-scrolling and top down shooter like Dead Nation / Alienation / Resogun / Matterfall. Or NiOh that plays like classic action-hack & slash despite the Soulslike elements.
So I don't think Sony is the main reason why we got less and less linear action games.
I say it is gamers taste who has changes over the years and that changes pushed developers to make less linear action games. Nowadays, young gamers loves to play live service games like Fornite, Valorant, COD Warzone, Apex Legends, Minecraft etc over linear action games like Gungrave Gore, DMC 5, or Bayonetta.
@PuppetMaster but " Fornite, Valorant, COD Warzone, Apex Legends, Minecraft "
are all games made by developers that never made linear action games/hack n slash to begin with
@PuppetMaster totally agree the PS3/360 era was a lot more exciting then the current generation. I would add Binary Domain, Darksiders, Dantes Inferno and Enslaved to the list as well. Not many games make you feel like a crazy badass these days most modern action games have very down to earth combat.
I had a great time with this game back in the day! Such a fun little gem. I do wonder if it would hit the same without the music though. The one they used in the trailer definitely felt a bit bland.
I suppose I could just fire up Spotify and listen to the tracks of the original to sort of bypass the problem. Not ideal of course but it's an option.
@nomither6 "are all games made by developers that never made linear action games/hack n slash to begin with"
Bruh. Did you really forgot that EA made linear action games like Shadows of the Damned, Dante's Inferno, Army of Two, Shank, Mirror's Edge, or American's McGee Alice / Alice Madness Return?
Did you forgot Activision made linear action games like Apocalypse (they even mocap Bruce Willis for this game), Transformers: War & Fall of Cybertron / Devastation, all those linear superhero games like Spiderman 1 & 2 on PS1 / Shattered Dimensions / Edge of Time, Wolverine, and Deadpool?
Or look at Capcom. When was the last time they released DMC 5? It was 5 years ago. Since then, they didn't make DMC 6 or Asura's Wrath 2, God Hand 2, Chaos Legion 2, or a new Strider. But instead, they made Exoprimal a live service MP game, RE: Re ReVerse another live service MP game, and RE Resistance a 1 vs 4 MP game.
See the pattern here?
This looks promising. I never had a chance to play the original release, so I'm excited for this remake.
@bindiana Dante's Inferno needs a sequel cause that cliffhanger ending makes me sad.
I never get the chance to played Binary Domain but i heard positive words about it. I wonder why Sega didn't remastered the game for current gen?
Sadly, looks like Darksiders series is finish huh. It's been 5 years since Darksiders Genesis and there's no news that we would get a new game...
@get2sammyb
It's more than a shame, this is going to be disastrous for the game's sales prospects. The soundtrack is a huge part of the experience. I'll probably still buy it, but not going to lie, this is a lot like the Switch port of No More Heroes 1 missing Heavenly Star.
@PuppetMaster they got replaced with dark souls clones
Nah, I can play the original game on my Ally easily, with the original soundtrack. Actually completed it a year ago, albeit on a Steam Deck back then. A fun game, but it’s one of those one and done kinda game for me.
Was a fun silly game I enjoyed back on 360. Sucks that music had to be replaced but that’s just how it is with license issues. Still getting it.
@get2sammyb licensing ruins everyone's fun in videogames
I never played the original, so this would be a perfect opportunity to remedy that. I'm not expecting it to be a game that gets anywhere near a 10, but it should be fun. Sometimes that's not a bad thing at all.
@HeeHo "those holding out for a physical edition will be able to nab one in October"
I never played the original Lollipop Chainsaw on Xbox 360 so I'm looking forward to this game in September.
I honestly was thinking I’m the only person who’s played this game lol. Never heard many other gamers talking about it.
This is basically a harley quinn game
Is it me or does it look really dated textures wise?
I watched it in 4K res and both geometry and textures seem very low, as a remaster I would like to see it bumped
Some of the best news I heard in a while. Hail to the queen!!
suda51 and gunn were not involved with this remaster and suda in particular seemed to be disgruntled about it. 16 lisensed tracks have been removed. judging by this uneventful and uninspired trailer, it looks like it is going to be a cheap cash grab with the bare minimum amount of work to get it out the door. the original on ps3 was great but a bit rough around the edges — the remaster deserved a lot better (such as a few new areas and expanded maps etc).
@get2sammyb Sorry for necromancing this topic, but do you have any information regarding the physical release of this game?
Limited Run Games will open preorders for its standard edition on 26th of July, which is soon. I would like to evade buying from them (because of their bad reputation + high import cost to Europe) so I was wondering, will there be any standard/deluxe physical edition available to buy from normal retailers or if it's too soon to tell when could we get some more information regarding this?
Thank you!
EDIT: Actually there is a physical edition besides LRN and you can preorder it from play-asia. It has English titles. I will most likely preorder from LRN but I'm stil wondering if there will be any special edition of the game
