Sucker Punch’s iconic stealth action platformer Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus will have a Platinum Trophy when it re-releases on PS5 and PS4 later this week, as part of Sony’s expanded emulation offering. Up until now, the Japanese giant has only offered upgraded PS1 and PSP titles as part of its PS Plus Premium subscription tier, but from tomorrow (11th June, 2024) it’ll introduce PS2 titles to the mix.
These games will be enhanced with a variety of quality-of-life improvements, including up-rendered visuals, save states, rewind, and more. But most importantly of all for enthusiasts, there’ll be a Platinum pot to unlock in Sly Cooper’s inaugural adventure.
This actually isn’t the first time the game has had Trophies, as the excellent PS3 compilation Sly Trilogy also added Trophies to the title. Considering how fun this game and its PS2 sequels are, though, it’s exciting to have the opportunity to unlock the Platinum all over again.

My first ever platinum was the PS3 remaster of Sly 1. Was quite a short one!
I'm really hoping for a comparison video once this comes out showing the differences between the original release, the PS3 collection and this version.
"And for individual purchase on the PS store"
Yup. You don't need to subs for PS+ Premium to play these classic.
Never played back then, i'm gonna buy it tomorrow💪
I guess I’ll be 100% sly cooper for the third or fourth time then.
Let's hope that the emulation quality is good.
One thing I'm glad Sony don't do compared to Nintendo is locking these games behind a subscription (apart from the PS3 games).
@AdamNovice Miyamoto is gonna hunt you down. Nintendo are great!
Bravo on the sub heading 👏
How do the ps2 games look on ps5? I hope at least the resolution will be higher than on the ps2
Looking forward to playing this. Loved it on PS3 collection. Wasn't as keen on the others but loved the linear structure of the 1st one
Which is the better version, this one or the PS3 HD collection one?
I already have all Sly Cooper games on PS3 since December 2020 so I'm good.
@Cry_Zero I hope they give the option to use integer scaling. I think the artwork doesn't hold up with higher resolutions, so I'd prefer original resolution with sharp pixels.
@breakneck That's alright, I can then ask him why he's struggled to make a decent game this century. Lol
@AdamNovice because miyamoto no longer develops games himself lol
I might try it out, mostly to see what Sucker Punch's early days were like.
N.i.c.e. sly cooper is one of my favorite video games franchises ever.word up son
As a lover of platinums who has never played these games because I was in 30 hours a week of Pro Evo mode at the time, I am bloody thrilled about this.
@WizzNL Well, Tomb Raider is using the same list as the PS3 version. I'm not anticipating them adding trophies to every 3rd party game, but it'd be nice.
If it's like the one in the PS3 HD collection, it'll be super easy to get too. I wish we could just get the HD collection or an upgraded version of that to be honest.
@PuppetMaster
These classics or this classic?
Cause I'm wondering if I need premium+ for these upcoming classics
Tomb Raider Legend has trophies as well!
@Ken_Kaniff
I was literally just about to ask/comment if the title of this article was implying the other two were NOT getting trophies. If Tomb Raider is getting them, that's a good sign I guess, since that is not strictly a Sony IP. So maybe we'll see more 3rd party games get trophies now, or at least with PS2. Fingers crossed.
@Veritas7Ax God I hope. They used the same list from the PS3 version, but still can't complain about finally getting a third party classic with trophies.
Edit: The Clone Wars got trophies as well. They also patched Toy Story 2 with them. Holy crap are we gonna finally see them all with trophies?
@Specky These classic good sir. You can buy all of them individually.
@Ken_Kaniff
Oh wow! This is a great start! And I want to say that’s the first “classic” Star Wars game to get trophies. None of the others thus far have: Rebel assault II, Phantom Menace, etc.
Good. Because I have no desire to experience cult classics from the past without pop ups every few minutes to tell me I’ve successfully watched a cutscene or collected my first widget, and also collected 50, 100 and 250 widgets.
Why should I bother to explore an expertly crafted world that’s had thousands of man hours lovingly put into it if they can’t even be bothered to give me a collection of pixels that loosely resemble metal cups for every virtual acre I walk through?
@GravyThief You can turn off notification for trophies.
