Push Square's affection for a good train game is well-known, be it the Train Sim World or Railway Empire series, and so we're pretty excited to see Railroads Online be formally announced for PS5. Currently in Early Access on Steam, when it leaves the program sometime this Fall, other PlayStation train fans can look forward to laying some serious tracks in exciting sandbox sessions, alone or with friends.
Set in a huge and open world reminiscent of the Americas during the golden age of steam trains, Railroads Online tasks players with building their own company, transporting goods, and turning a profit while transforming the landscape to suit that end better. Either alone or with up to 15 other players online, it looks good, too, running on Unreal Engine 5.
Are you a fan of train games? Does the prospect of digitally laying tracks, usually a meditative and solitary experience, with so many others sound like an exercise in frustration? Let us know in the comments section below.

Railroad Tycoon 3 is one of my favourite games. If this is even close to that, it should be worth a go.
We can all channel our inner ‘Francis’
I'll be donning my pink blazer and mustard chino's and will be diving right in.
Wish that Tracks on the Switch had been ported to the PS4/5.
Man that music in the trailer is a vibe
Railway empire and railroad tycoon are surprisingly great franchises. This game sounds promising.
