We suppose it's quite easy to forget, but FromSoftware actually released another game between Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree. Its hardcore mecha action title, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, launched in August of last year, and as it approaches its first anniversary, we've been handed news of it breaking through 3 million sales.
That's a pretty great result for the latest instalment in a franchise that spent decades as an incredibly niche series of PS2 and PS3 games. While it's obviously not on the same commercial level as the developer's more well-known works, 3 million is still a big win. It'll be very interesting to see whether FromSoftware has future plans for Armored Core...
Did you buy Armored Core 6? Would you love to see an eventual Armored Core 7? Take on another soul-crushing mission in the comments section below.

Well deserved : D
I was a big fan of Zone of the Enders back in the day, so I was really happy to see another mecha gaming franchise come back.
Absolutely loved this game. Really hoping for some DLC or even another game at some point. Also one of the best game soundtrack from last year… in my totally non From Software fanboy opinion…
@NieR_Dark not an opinion if it’s a fact!
Still to actually play this, even though I pre-ordered it. It’s one if the games I’m most looking forward to finding time for though.
I just bought this a couple weeks ago on sale for $41. I initially skipped it since I'm feeling pretty over soulslikes, or just anything uber difficult. But man the action looked super slick and I couldn't kick the urge to try it. And I'm glad I did!
This doesn't play anything like a souls game, and although it's tough, I don't find it nearly as aggravating as soulslikes. I even got lucky enough to get past the helicopter boss on my second try. Even The Wall only took me 4 tries.
I'm about to do the Balteus mission though, so I may change my mind after that lol. We'll see, but so far I love the hell outta this game.
I sincerely hope that it will show publishers that levels are still good, not everything has to be open world.
I like the series but not yet played this one. It's cool to know it sold well though.
Very good game! Hopefully the see the strong sales as a sign of success and make another one.
Bounced off after six hours. Is it worth ploughing through? I love FromSoft! So wondering if it just gets better over time.
@WhiteRabbit or FF16 selling 3 million in the opening week and somehow thats a cataclysmic failure
@WhiteRabbit i donk think SB was a failure i just think people were amazed at the sales when comparing it to the hype.
@WhiteRabbit The same happened with FF 16 and VII Rebirth where some people called both games as a flop just because they doesn't sold as much as FF 15 or VII Remake in the same time frame without considering many factors.
I think i posted some comparison for Stellar Blade that it sold 1 million copies in less than 3 months is a success, compare to similar action hack & slash games like DMC, Bayonetta, or Ninja Gaiden who needs at least 4-6 months to a year to sold 1 million copies. There's some exception like DMC 5 who sold 2.7 million copies in less than 6 months.
@PuppetMaster also worth mentioning that Stellar Blade budget is probably 5% of Rebirth budget, so it needs much smaller numbers to be called a success.
Still in my backlog hopefully I start playing it once I beat elden ring shadow of the erdtree... which means like in another 6 months Lol
@Yousef-
RE ZoE
Theres a pair of games you dont hear mentioned often - really enjoyed them too. If i recall the Metal gear solid 2 demo was packed in with the 1st game to help it sell. Wish they would do a ZoE 3 now.
That's surprising, my sense was that the game was kind of a flop that was forgotten quickly. Definitely a blast to play, we really need so much more arcade play from Fromsoft. Forgot they were capable of it.
Except for the stupid helicopter boss....
I'm so happy to see that FromSoft and Bandai had reasonable sales expectations for this game and are celebrating how well it's done! This game was a delight, and has me hopeful that FromSoft will deliver more 15-50 hour games alongside larger projects!
@jrt87 The thing is that you have to tweak your robot for each fight. You can cheese anything with the correct gear, or make it impossible with the wrong gear. Trial and error is more about finding the good combination to move forward, keeping failing with the wrong gear will not solve anything.
I want to see From do something to shake up the formula next time. I’d love to see them try a turn-based strategy game, and Armored Core seems like a logical answer to that. VI is a fantastic game though, and so glad it exists.
