XSEED Games is bringing classic action RPG Ys: The Oath in Felghana back, complete with various enhancements on PS5 and PS4. The Oath in Felghana itself is a remake of 1989's Ys 3, and was released for the PSP all the way back in 2010.
However, a remastered version of the remake — titled Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana — just recently dropped in Japan, for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. It's this remaster that's now heading West, targeting a vague '2025' launch window.
As alluded, the localised release will come with a handful of improvements. The press release mentions new difficulty options and quality of life stuff, like turbo mode (as if Ys isn't fast enough already!). "Refined" character art is also included as an option, and protagonist Adol actually talks now, with newly recorded voice acting. Even the soundtrack — which is a banger — has been remastered, although you can still swap back to the original music if you wish.

This is a badass game. Played it on Vita a while ago, one of the best in the franchise.
Nice, I'm always up for more Ys games. I take it this is the same engine as Ys Origin? Looks very similar in terms of combat, in any case.
Such a fantastic game. Perfectly paced in a way that makes it very replayable, too, like Super Metroid.
Oh no, I specifically bought the game on Steam a few weeks ago because at the time, it wasn't available on any consoles I have access to 😓 Guess I'll be double dipping then!
Ohh awesome!! The fact Falcom is working with XSEED and Marvelous again makes me have hope they will port Cold Steel 1 and 2 plus the Sky trilogy to modern consoles too!
Already have ys I & II chronicles on steam, I need to finish both before 2025
I think Ys 7 on the psp was the first one I played 🤔
One of the best games ever made with one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard.
A big hearty recommend from me, for anyone looking to experience a tough but rewarding action platformer. Not too long as well from what I remember. Think I beat it in like 12 hours on the psp? So yeah, a great pallete cleanser between longer games.
Valestein Castle.
Search it up on YouTube. Listen to it.
Absorb it. Feel it.
You won't regret it.

It’s a great game for sure, even with slightly annoying difficulty spikes if i remember right. Not that enamoured by the thought of Adol being fully voiced though, he’s a bit like Link in that being a silent protagonist is part of him for me.
Big fan of the Ys series after finally playing Ys VIII last year. I'll happily take this.
I agree with @nessisonett that Adol being fully voiced is weird. Honestly, I would have preferred him to be for the whole series (or at least the latter ones), but since he's not, it makes little sense for him to be voiced in an early game and then silent in all of the recent ones. If the game is great, it'll be a minor thing in the end, but still puzzling.
Heard this is one of the best, so will probably try it. I actually bought it on vita years ago when Sony threatened to close the store, but didn't get around to playing it.
Just watching the trailer we really do need to doff our caps to the Falcom Sound Team. Best in the business
I bought the PSP version years ago on PSN and i love it. If this one have a physical release, i would double dip so i can put it on my shelf along with Ys Origins, Celceta, VII, VIII, and IX.
No Bryce Papenbrook?
Ys 3 is probably my favorite Ys game. I've never heard of this one and definitely doesn't look like a remake of Ys 3. Ys 3 was a 2D side scroller. I'll still preorder it.
As much as I’d love to see the older titles on modern hardware, can’t complain about more Ys remasters!
