Developer Ironwood Studios has just released a big update for its supernatural driving game, Pacific Drive. This is the first major content update for the title, bringing new features and gameplay to the experience for free.
Photo mode is perhaps the biggest new addition, allowing you to take snapshots of your beloved station wagon either out in the zone or in the safety of the garage. With it, you can change the time of day and weather, apply fun filters, and all the other usual bells and whistles.

The update also adds an upgrade for the matter deconstructor, allowing you to throw objects into it rather than fiddle about in its menu, making the process much faster. There's a new item for your car, too — the Juke Jet, a side-mounted bit of equipment that lets you jolt the car left or right. That could be very useful for dodging some of the anomalies out in the zone.
On top of that are some new cosmetic items, like hood ornaments and bumper stickers. You'll also now be able to change the colour of your headlights, which is pretty neat. It seems like this is a pretty meaty update, all told.
As well as the free update, the studio has also released a paid DLC pack. The Friendly Dumpster Customisation Pack is £3.99/$4.99, and includes a handful of special cosmetic items based around your most loyal of allies.
You can see a bit of everything in the above trailer. What do you think of all this new stuff for Pacific Drive? Will you be hopping back in for another lap? Take a trip to the comments section below.

I loved this game, definitely want to play it again, even after platinum-ing it. It felt like a car-based S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The update is really want is PSVR2, that would be incredibly useful, but I doubt we’d ever get it.
Needs a 60fps mode not an uneven 30fps, I would even take a 40fps mode. Played 20mins never touched it since
I was hooked on this at launch, the atmosphere was outstanding and the story intriguing. The driving was quirky in all the right ways with a fantastic loop of upgrading and pushing forward that never felt too grindy. I've needed an excuse to go back for another run and this'll do it.
Only interested in this when it runs at 60fps. Tried at launch and it was just unplayable.
Unplayable at 30fps?! Stop talking nonsense.
The thing of releasing a big free update along with some kind of paid expansion seems to be the done thing, now. Quite a nice idea.
I keep going to pick this up as it’s £15ish.
But I just know it’s going to head to plus at some point soon.
@daveofduncan It isn't unplayable but the framerate is fairly inconsistent. It drops below 30fps in parts.
The patch notes say there is a PS5 Performance mode now, anyone actually tried it yet?

@daveofduncan It was the fact that it barely hit 30 fps that made it unplayable. It 100% needed a few more months dev time.
@Futureshark I love how a PS website forgets to mention the PS exclusive performance mode
