Square Enix has dropped a deep dive trailer for Visions of Mana, as we creep closer to its 29th August release date on PS5 and PS4. This might just be our best look at the RPG's gameplay mechanics to date, as the video breaks down the various elemental powers that Val and his party are able to wield.
Basically, Elemental Vessels give you access to both new character classes and solutions to environmental puzzles. Any Vessel can be attuned to any of the adventure's five party members, which, on paper, should allow for an impressive amount of customisation. Indeed, finding the right combination of classes could end up being pretty important.
Honestly, Visions of Mana just looks like a really solid — and hopefully very fun — action RPG. With its old school atmosphere and straightforward story, it's obviously not trying to reinvent the genre — but there's nothing necessarily wrong with that. As long as its charm remains intact, we could see this being a bit of a sleeper hit.
Again, Visions of Mana is still set to launch at the end of next month. We're hoping to spy some raw gameplay footage in the near future, but until that arrives, let us know if you're ready to embark on a classic quest in the comments section below.

This looks really well put together and definately a game I'd like to play - good trailer.
My poor wallet - there is no escape from the constant influx of games I want to try!
I swear, we give them a hard time, but Square-Enix still makes like 70% of the games I want to play.
I will likely never touch this but it looks surprisingly cool and fun
While I’m not fond of the character models, everything else looks sublime. This trailer has me hyped up for its release date.
@NEStalgia “ Square-Enix still makes like 70% of the games I want to play. “
And the other 30% are Kingdom Hearts. 😂
Looking forward to this one. Enjoyed the last, which I thought was called “Visions of Mana” but I suppose was something else. 🤷🏻♂️ I’m just calling all JRPG not FF or DQ “Tales of Mana” from now on, that seems to cover most of the ones I want to play. Or as my wife calls them “The JRPG With the Tree”. 🤪
Edit: OK last 1 I played was “Trials of Mana”, and “Tales of Arise” is still around here in the box somewhere, that’s next after GoW:R, then this when it’s on sale for $20, shouldn’t take long.😁
@rjejr Trials of Mana was the last one released, which was a remake of a Super Famicom/SNES one. The series is known as Seiken Densetsu in Japan and Trials of Mana was Seiken Densetsu 3, so it was a "sequel" to Secret of Mana (the second game in the series).
I pre-ordered this. They made the game look so-so with early reveals and you had to look elsewhere to get a better sense of the game. Now the official sources are finally showing stuff that makes it look like a classic Tales of adventure on steroids.
@rjejr "Kingdom Hearts"
Not only is the dagger barbed, but also poisoned......
@MasterVGuides Only Square needs a spreadsheet to figure out what game has what name(s) lol.
@MasterVGuides " Seiken Densetsu "
I just looked it up, you probably replied before my edit, and that translates to " The Legend of the Sacred Sword ", but we got "FF Adventure" in the West? Who's in charge of this stuff. 😜
In case I read that wrong I'm blaming Wiki.

Day one purchase for me
