Square Enix's colourful RPG Visions of Mana is just a month away at this stage, releasing on both PS5 and PS4 on 29th August. If you caught the recent deep dive gameplay trailer, you may be willing that date to come faster so you can play the darn thing. Well, you're in luck — you can play a demo version of the game right now.
The free playable demo for Visions of Mana is available now on PS Store. The PS5 version comes in at about 12.7GB, and will likely be slightly more on PS4.
So, what's in it? The demo comprises a cut-down version of a chapter early in the game, giving you a taster of the story, exploration, and combat from the full experience. Progress in the demo doesn't carry over to the full game, but you are rewarded for playing it; when you boot up Visions of Mana proper, you'll gain access to three weapons for player character Val. These include Gladius, a small sword, Falx, a great sword, and Horn Lance. Each can only be equipped once you unlock certain element classes during the adventure.

Square Enix is not perfect, but their commitment to releasing (substantial) demos is admirable. Are they the best at it in the modern era?
I don't see it in the EU store, it's crazy you can't just search for demos properly on PSN store.
EDIT: Nvm, found it on PSN EU store on PC, weird it's not showing up for me on the PS5.
@Legacy2K If it helps, there's a demo section on the console PS Store. From the home page of the PS Store, just scroll down and you'll see various horizontal sections. One is headed 'Demos' and shows the latest demos first. (If you scroll all the way to the right, you can open the whole section to see all of them.)
Searching on console only brings up the games themselves, but if you go into them, and select the three dots icon, you should see an option to view the page for the demo and you can download from there — that's another way to do it on PS5 itself
@Quintumply That’s good to know, thanks mate!
Looks good, I'll give it the demo a go when I get the time.
For some reason, I didn't expect a demo at all. Interested in the game but also on the fence about it, so I'm definitely going to check this out.
@Gamer83 Downloaded this last night will try it this evening. I too am on the fence about it but I hope I like it!
Thanks for the heads up, will def try the demo at some point. Secret of Mana is one of my all time favorites from my childhood, very curious if this game can recapture some of that magic.
I just played it for a bit and i quite like it. Graphics looks kinda better than Trials of Mana but the frame rate seems lower but maybe because it's a PS4 version.
Thanks, just downloaded it from the app to my PS5, found it no problem. Will probably wait to play it until I finish Stellar Blade in another week or so.
Sweet. I didn't need a demo but I am happy to have it.
Big fan of the original game so was looking forward to this. Not impressed, voice acting is awful and gameplay seems to have more in common with y's or tales games rather than Secret of Mana.
Perhaps the fact that it just dumped you in at a later stage and threw a lot of info at you all at once didn't help either.
