God of gaming events Geoff Keighley has confirmed that next week's Gamescom Opening Night Live will feature fresh announcements. The organiser and host has felt the need to make this clear after listing off a bunch of known games that are set to put in an appearance during the presentation. Naturally, these unannounced titles will remain shrouded in mystery until the show, unless some kind of catastrophic leak occurs beforehand.
So far, Geoff's noted that the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Monster Hunter Wilds, Marvel Rivals, Dune: Awakening, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Civilization 7 will all be present. We also know that Metaphor: ReFantazio, Phantom Blade Zero, and Crimson Desert will be there — at least in demo form.
But let's face it, "new game announcements" — as per Geoff's Twitter post on the subject — could mean anything. Typically, Gamescom isn't the place for gigantic reveals — it's always been more of an updates show, because of its proximity to events that take place earlier in the summer.
Indeed, 2023's Gamescom Opening Night Live had a heavy emphasis on providing new information for games that had already been announced. We're assuming that'll still be the case this year, but with a few surprises sprinkled in.
Are there any announcements that you'd love to see during the show? Make some wild predictions in the comments section below.

A new Sonic Adventure style game.
PS5 Pro and Ghost of T 2, announcement and release dates for November 2024 😊
About time one of these shows had something magnificent and amazing to tell. And also 2024 overall to be honest. That’s across all makers and developers by the way.
The problem with this show is its length: the longer, the more Geoff money. A 45 min show with short mixed gameplay+story trailers of newly announced games would be great. But, no chance!
Smyths Toys UK has the Astro Bot controller back up for preorder, if anyone missed out.
Sorry they gone now, lasted about 30 minutes.
I would like to see more of Lego Horizon... don't need to see Astro as my mind was made a millisecond into it's reveal trailer.
As for others I want more updates on Marvel Rivals and Dune Awakening.
@AdamNovice
Good shout I had forgotten about Lego Horizon.
I was so worried.
@OldGamer999 I think it's because Astro Bot overshadows it quite a bit.
Games used to need presentations, now presentations need games.
I hope geoff wear a different color of suit.why everyone wears blue or black all the times.anyways the games announcements should be interesting.word up son
I would love to see some release date for Snake Eater Delta and some Splinter Cell news
@AdamNovice
That’s true as Astro is out soon.
Also we don’t have a confirmed 2024 actual release date yet for H Lego as in the date.
I’m thinking November 2024
Should be OK, as long as one doesn't go into it with very high expectations (like PS5 Pro, PS Studios game announcements etc).
PlayStation showcase announcement or if not than a PS5 pro will be revealed there.
I’m really glad for the timing of this showcase. I’ll likely try to turn it on as background noise for the afternoon stretch of the workday. I mean, most of the show will be fluff but I’m always happy to passively absorb these showcases and then actively watch the interesting content afterward.
Sony are attending TGS, which is likely where PS5Pro will be announced.
@AdamNovice I think it's a safe bet Lego Horizon will be there, given it releases a month later. I thought the game looked really cool so I'm stoked to see more of it!
The only thing I can think of them announcing is whatever Bluepoint is doing, another Death Stranding 2 trailer of some kind, probably some Metal Gear Solid, and MAYBE a Spider-Man 2 DLC announcement. This under the assumption Sony isn't saving announcements for their own showcase, which is rumored to happen in September!
Hopefully Lego Horizon gets a release date, maybe for December. Maybe Decapolice will also get a release date as well.
I think Death Stranding 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds are safe bets to have trailers, and of course yet another Metaphor Re Fantazio one.
@Brawl4002 There's no release date yet for Lego Horizon.
I'm not holding my breath, Geoff
@playstation1995 would be nice to see Geoff wear Green for once 👀 but he bleeds blue.
@Brawl4002 Yeah I was surprised at how good it looked, I think it's cool that everything in the game world is made of Lego.
@OldGamer999 November is not a bad shout, they certainly will want it out in decent time for Christmas.
@K1LLEGAL. I know right.or red. Or something.why do a lot of youtubers always wear black or blue all the time.its crazy.word up son
Honestly Geoff can go F himself. His shows are so shamelessly pay to advertise platforms that it's just sad.
The entire industry is just becoming another cesspool of sociopath run investment companies trying to scam as much money out of a once artistic and enthusiast medium until all that's left are the same mindless marks that spend half there day swiping to consume as much short duration garbage content as possible while the world burns.
@UltimateOtaku91 I could've sworn I saw some article that said September 2024. It probably was for another game, my bad lmao 😭
@Brawl4002 That was probably for Astro Bot, releases September 6th. Pretty sure we will get a date for Lego Horizon soon though 🤞.
Could see any of Concord (reminder it exists), Astro Bot (final trailer kind of thing), Until Dawn remake (release date reveal) and Lego Horizon Adventures (release date reveal) appear from Sony but anything else I think they'd save for a September showcase.
There’s no way Geoff isn’t a Scientologist.
"Geoff" is a stupid way to spell, Jeff. Plus, he will be wearing white sneakers in a suit. What a joke.
Updates on known games are always less exciting
I would live to see some more info in Expedition 33 and the new Wolverine game?!
@Zeldorf now and then I like to look up the etymology of words, just to see where they come from and learn the base meaning.
'"Geoff" is a stupid way to spell, Jeff.'
Geoffrey is the bases for Jeffrey. With regards to Geoffrey it is a derivative of Dutch "Godfried", German "Gottfried" and Old English "Gotfrith" and "Godfrith".
Jeffrey is actually a surname/last name, but is used as a first name apparently due to the simpler spelling.
Oh also - I've never really been into watching the games shows these days, as you can just catch most of the trailers on YouTubes afterwards.
I dunno why I keep watching stuff hosted by that corporate shill, but it'll give me something to do before work.
Voted for the last option. Couldn't care with mr doritos show.
I will be another Geoff mediocrity just like always. Waste of time but if you have nothing better to do... Then still not worth a watch probably.
Regardless of the quality of the Gamescom I'm just glad we have something like it to watch yearly
I just want more Death Stranding 2 info and Geoff is probably the man to get me it.
Won't watch it, more inclined to see highlights.
If ever....
