Publisher Playtonic Friends and developer Knight Shift Games have announced a release date for their roguelike side-scrolling action title, Elsie. It releases on 10th September 2024 as revealed by this trailer, which starts with a stylish animation before showing off some gameplay, and it looks pretty promising.
The game looks pretty frantic, with a combination of platforming, run-and-gunning, and bullet hell. All this combined with procedurally generated stages, a parry mechanic, per-run upgrades, and multiple playable characters makes for an interesting blend.
Here's hoping it can do enough to stand apart from the pack, as pixelated roguelikes are ten a penny these days. What do you make of Elsie? Are you interested in checking it out next month? Let us know in the comments section below.

This looks really sick, and I love the animations. September is shaping up to be a great month for gaming.
You know what would be crazy creative these days? Not making a roguelike.
Design and music is dope though.
Oh God roguelike again!! Surprise 😮
