Over the last couple of weeks, Capcom's been releasing daily Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay videos, each one of them dedicated to showcasing one of the game's 14 weapon types. But if you haven't been keeping up, we've got good news: Capcom's bundled all of the gameplay footage together into one big video, ahead of Wilds' appearance at Gamescom this week.
If you're already familiar with the 14 weapon types of modern Monster Hunter, then you'll notice a number of additions and alterations. While each weapon's traditional style of play remains intact, some actions have been expanded, and tweaks have been made to certain combos. A lot of the changes seem pretty minor on a surface level, but they're going to add up very quickly when you're actually playing.
Honestly, we can't wait for Wilds. Still set for a vague '2025', we're hoping to get a confirmed release date in the relatively near future.

I am super disappointed they didn't keep the surge slash combo on the greatsword. So, i won't be maining that.
The charge blade is looking like my go-to. Switch Axe looks like it could be a banger.
Bow was looking crazy. I might have to learn it this time around.
Overall though, i know this is supposed to be the more grounded entry, but because of it, it looks generally less exciting than Rise/sunbreak. I don't like this step back in the combat for the numbred entries. I don't think it will be as fun. Next MH should be an insane banger though.
It's a strange marketing campaign... going all in on weapon details before even showing proper gameplay
Hammer coming in hot. Move or be moved.
I'll be practicing my elemental burst counters all Fall long
This game is probably not going to run well either. But y'all don't want to have that conversation do you.
Every weapon looks amazing! I'm gonna try them all before mastering a class
I'm a fan of the hunting horn, I like buffs.
I voted Dual Blades because that's what I used in World but I want to do something different this time, probably Insect Glaive. Might start with DB to see the differences though.
Lance lads, assemble!
I mained bow on Worlds so bow again for me on Wilds. It looks great.
@Icey664 yeah, and that video really could have done with a narrator.
I wanted to focus on the animations but kept having to read.
@Nem They probably haven't shown all of the weapons' moves. Wilds might be more "grounded" than Rise but I don't think you should automatically assume a move isn't coming back.
@Enuo What's the point in bringing up performance when a) that's not what the article is about at all, and b) you can't even judge the performance seeing as the game is still in development and for all we know Capcom chose graphics mode for their presentations?
Its between a Hunting Horn and my go to the Bow
I'm usually start with Hammer and then try other weapons. Guess I'll do the same here.
I'll be bringing the bonk with the hammer
Definitely Switch Axe, the moves for it looked so damn good
@Melee_Ace We will find soon in gamescom, but i am not holding my breath for much of a difference. If they had switch skills back though, then that would be great.
@Nem step back in combat? How's that? They seem to have implemented more moves from different weapons according to the comments on several vids.
Granted it looks about samey to me.
Or do you mean cause of the lack of the wirebug?
BONK!
and the CB. KOs and choppin' tails.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Can't know if they are adding more at this point, but there are less moves than in Rise and sunbreak. You had switch skills in those games, which added more moves and you could customise your play style. Wilds is losing several moves in comparison from switch skills to wirebug moves (special attacks that cost wirebugs), which for me makes it less exciting.
Oh i don't know which comments you mean, but it's likely from world only players, cause it's not true. If you compare to world, i guess there are more moves. 🤷♂️
Insect Glaive & Hunting Horn for me! 🦋
@Nem oh alright, thanks for clearing it up.
I'm typically a dual blades user, but will probably try them all out first before I decide for sure.
