Finally, Capcom has given us live, unedited gameplay from Monster Hunter Wilds — and it looks outrageously good. The action RPG got a big demonstration at Gamescom 2024, in which the developers run us through a full hunt in the desert region that's featured heavily in previous trailers.
The gameplay starts at around the 27 minute mark, and then there's a second demonstration at 1 hour and 6 minutes.
Monster Hunter World brought an exciting dynamism to the classic Monster Hunter blueprint, thanks to more interactive environments and ground-shaking clashes between beasts. And basically, Wilds is upping the ante across the board, adding even bigger locales, complete with everchanging weather conditions and thriving ecosystems that are made up of many different creatures.

Again, this gameplay showcase is seriously impressive. There are countless ups and downs as the devs pursue their target across the sands. Other monsters cause total chaos at times, the hunters get creative with environmental hazards to soften their foe, and that core Monster Hunter combat looks as satisfying as ever.

The trailers have been good, but this live gameplay is on another level. I think this looks utterly brilliant so far.
2025 can't come soon enough!
Is this confirmed to be gameplay running on a ps5 rather than a high end pc? If so, it looks very impressive and makes me feel a lot more confident about its performance on console.
This HAS to be early 25 right? With how much they are showing.
Give me a release date please.
@breakneck I hope so, rise was march or April I think,
Going to be Capcom's highest selling game again.
Really dislike the white outline around your character when you are behind things, or around part of the weapon when it's clipping inside the monster. Looks so unnatural and immersion-breaking.
Really hope there's an option to disable that.
I haven't played a Monster Hunter game, do fights usually take that long?
I'm going to lose so many hours of my precious time on this Earth to this game... I can't wait!
@personauser93 the short answer is yes.
The longer answer is yes, especially when you only have starter gear or a weapon that isn't set up for the particular monster you're hunting. Half of the game is preparing; crafting gear, items, choosing weapons based on what's needed. Even when you know a Monster well it still takes time, the whole game is slower than a typical action game which isn't to everyone's tastes.
I need to see something besides this miserable desert.
The series has never clicked for me, but I wish it all the success in the world. I love to see Capcom thriving.
@soyabean135876 There were a few different options in World for silhouettes iirc, including an option to have none.
@LikelySatan The most recent trailer released also showed off the Scarlet Forest. You can count on some volcanic region, and probably some islandy/beachside region being in as well. An Ice region is probable enough but not a guarantee.
Im still really disappointed that looking for clues of monsters is gone and now it's just either follow the green trail or have your mount just automatically take you to the monster :/
The game seems awesome, but technically speaking, i'm very disapointed. Does not look way better than PS4 Monster Hunter World, and it runs at an awfull 30 fps (i hope the 60 fps mode will be stable). I trully hope it will be better than Dragon's Dogma 2 performances, or else i will stay on MHWorld...
At this point, don't think I need a trailer or gameplay vid to be sold on MH. It could have sweet cartoony graphics like RiseSunbreak or lean towards realism like WorldIceborne, there's still a lot of FUN to be had hunting and crafting lovely gear. Other devs underestimate the joy in hunting & crafting.
@breakneck I'm at 2000hrs+ for both WorldIceborne & RiseSunbreak strictly SINGLE PLAYER. Forget that played out MP rhetoric, still a lot of fun to be had in SP.
@TheArt @breakneck Worth noting that Wilds has CPU companions as well, like in Sunbreak. You can see one of them in this gameplay too.
@ShogunRok Yeah that's good so maybe it feels less lonely on hunts for some SP players.
Looking forward to 2000 hours of this
Thanks to the poster higher up - didn't realise World had optional outlines.
Really excited for this - personally I'm a fan of simplifying the monster tracking elements - I've been playing the series since Tri, and never thought that wandering randomly/searching for tracks before the hunt started, really added to the experience once you'd done it the first 100 times - it was just pointless busywork.
