Many have been pondering the purpose of the strongly speculated PS5 Pro, but perhaps it’ll exist purely to ensure ambitious Korean life sim inZOI runs adequately on console. The upcoming rival to The Sims has largely looked too good to be true until recently, when a bunch of YouTubers and streamers have been going hands on with an early build. It’s real, then – and it looks incredible.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, this is promising a photo realistic experience where you’re in charge of the characters and the cities they inhabit. There’s a dizzying amount of depth to the avatar builder, which you can test out on PC right now. In the full game, once you’re done creating a cast, you’re given the freedom to customise your city as you wish.
Of course, this is a life simulation so unexpected events also occur, but it’s entirely up to you how you respond. Playing God has never looked this good, eh?
And as we alluded to at the top of the article, the title will likely launch on PS5 at a later date. A post on the game’s Discord notes: “[inZOI] is currently on PC (Steam) and is later expected to be on consoles like PS5 and Xbox.” We imagine it’s going to take quite some time for this to arrive, but considering how stale The Sims 4 has gotten, we’re open to the idea of a truly next-gen rival.

I love this trend of korean devs ***** on the western game development scene.
@riceNpea Fixed! Thanks!
@get2sammyb no prob
I've heard about inZOI for some time but this is the first time I've seen gameplay and I'm sold. I love The Sims but hated The Sims 4 and even after all its expansions it doesn't reach the heights of the previous games in the series. This looks like The Sims 3 with a new coat of paint. Love it!
@Frmknst what is a woman?
Seems like era of AAAA has just really begun 👏
I'm not impressed tbh. There is something disturbingly uncanny valley about that woman's face that you just do not get with a cartoon. Reminds me of the woman on the intro screen of Beyond Human, only there, she is actually meant to be slightly disturbing.
"Photo-realistic" is a huge stretch.
Holy crap, that looks seriously impressive.
Not my cup of tea, but its about time someone gave The Sims some competition!
you mean Photorealistic The Sims Rival inZOI WILL Settle on PS5!!!!!
@species it is lacking a lot right now compared to the Sims but I truly believe with time and a few add ons this will be a comprehensively better experience than Sims 4 & future efforts from EA
Time to pack it up, EA! You can keep your cartoony life simulator
The news I've been waiting to hear!
No kidding about The sims being stale, it looks like a relic from the past they haven't really updated it in any meaningful way (actually it has gone backwards in many ways!).
On the other hand inZOI looks incredible! I hope we don't have to wait too long. Big props to South Korea who has really been bringing it, they ain't playing games over there (maybe no pun intended).
Had my eye on this one since it was announced. Looks almost too good to be true. Would love some competition in this genre where you don't need to purchase 200 DLC packs to get a complete game.
Killzone 2 was claimed photorealistic. So this game must be literally indistinguishable from reality.
@Jayslow you don't need the 200 DLC packs to get a complete game with Sims nor will this game have the content of those 200 DLC packs.
Btw, I wonder what it says about our society that so many people are looking forward to starting an artificial life over living their actual one?
Have we really reached that stage now? Is real life so boring, so hard, so unfulfilling that fiction has become option number one? That is very depressing to me.
Will it also have over £1,000.00 of DLC 🤦 EA scum
"I wonder what it says about our society that so many people are looking forward to starting an artificial life over living their actual one?"
It says nothing because there's billions of people living in completely different situations across the world. Some people may be experiencing a terrible home life and may look for something to escape into, better a game than something more permanent.
@LifeGirl you are viewing life through a ethnocentric (not a derogatory term, just mean from your point of view determined by your Western upbringing) lens if you think that. The vast majority of people on this planet don't even know games like this game exists, and of those who do a miniscule minority are interested in trying it. So, don't worry, people all over the world are not flocking to escape reality. Drugs and alcohol on the other hand.....
Looks great and were those...cars? The Sims 4 made me think driving vehicles was absolutely impossible!!
@riceNpea @LifeGirl
It's just the AI testing the Matrix for their human battery farm.
There is nothing to see here, cease your questions.
@MikeOrator We are all already living in a sim, so AI is just a second generation sim, and it's going to create a 3rd gen sim for our minds when we are batteries. It's sims all the way down..😊
It looks ***** fantastic from the demo but damn, the Uncanny Valley effect is real with the engine.
Hopefully they'll do something to alleviate that a bit before the final release but right now it's unpleasant to play.
I have a feeling they used in"ZOI" and call their characters "zois" because it literally means "life" or "a life" in Greek (in this case "lives" because of the s suffix.)
You're literally creating living beings, as the voiceover basically alludes to by saying if you ever wanted to be a god.
Ok, but where's my Shrek mod?
@QiaraIris yes very creepy, should have made the characters in the final fantasy style
Lighting, blinking and micro facial movements are hard to model there are 43 muscles in the face that are always just slightly moving. It's definitely close to realistic but without those things it's just a bit off. With that said I don't think this game is going to have intense Death Stranding, TLoU cinematic cutscene that the artists are given that license to really push to that level. So it still looks really good.
I'd probably pick it up on sale though as I've only ever dabbled in the sims and never really stuck with it.
@Tecinthebrain That it's fun to life a fake better life for most nothing wrong with that. People follow celeberties for the same reason or the even worse fake people influencers.
inZOI......create the life you've always wanted, because your own sucks....
Maybe thats the tagline
