Sonic X Shadow Generations seems to be hitting all the right notes, doesn't it? This remaster of the beloved Sonic Generations is going above and beyond with lots of new features, mostly surrounding Shadow the Hedgehog, and the whole package is, so far, looking really promising. SEGA's latest update about the game focuses on the moody hedgehog's new Doom powers, giving him various new abilities to change up his platforming and combat.
In the trailer above, we see a number of these Doom powers in action. Doom Spears let Shadow attack multiple enemies at once, while Doom Blast allows you to launch bad guys into the air. Doom Morph turns Shadow into a squid-like being that can traverse all kinds of surfaces, Doom Wings let him fly through stages, and Doom Surf sees him easily cruise across water.
Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka explains on the PS Blog that these new abilities for Shadow have been introduced to help him stand out from Sonic the Hedgehog. Beforehand, the two characters played very similarly, but with Shadow's new Doom powers, his stages will play quite differently from Sonic's.
The new trailer also teases new stages we'll be returning to in Shadow's campaign, as well as showing off a boss battle against Metal Overlord, the big baddie from Sonic Heroes.
Sonic X Shadow Generations comes to PS5 and PS4 on 25th October, 2024. Are you looking forward to it? What do you make of this new trailer? Tell us in the comments section below.

Man, I think this game looks awesome.
It looks really good so far.
... Buuuut this IS still modern SEGA.. They WILL find a way to screw it up, somehow. Will definitely keep my expectations in check and i'd suggest everyone else to do the same. Unless y'all have forgotten about the travesty that was the Sonic Colors Ultimate or Sonic Forces..
The Shadow portion of this package is looking stacked. From what's been shown so far, we have:
1. Radical Highway (SA2)
2. Space Colony Ark (SA2)
3. Bullet Station (Heroes)
4. Final Fortress (Heroes)
5. Kingdom Valley (06)
6. Sunset Heights (Forces)
7. Chaos Island (Frontiers)
And there'll probably be a zone or two from the 2005 Shadow game, putting the level count on par with the original Generations - then there's this DLC level coming later on. Add on to that an open world hub, multiple boss fights, etc. They're really just making a whole other game and throwing in Sonic Generations as a bonus, and even that has some new content. Not bad for $50/£45, especially if they deliver with the new stuff.
Looks real good. I may have to redo my preorder for this.
