Against all expectations, the Twisted Metal television show was an absolute riot. The show, starring Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz, opted for a dark comedy vibe – and it was genuinely laugh-out-loud funny, with kooky storylines and oddball characters. It went on to become a big hit on streaming platform Peacock, and was ultimately renewed for a second season.
And now filming is underway for the follow-up. PS Productions bigwig Asad Qizilbash posted a photo from the set, with Mackie and Beatriz – who have great chemistry in the show – sitting on opposite chairs. We also get our first look at the season’s logo, confirming it will be called, quite simply, Twisted Metal 2.
For those of you who watched the first season, you’ll know this successor is set to introduce the Twisted Metal tournament from the games. We already know key characters like Calypso and Axel will feature, so there should be a lot to look forward to for fans of the classic car combat series. It’d be great if it was all accompanied by a new PS5 game, but apparently developer Firesprite quietly cancelled a project related to the property.
It’s a busy month for PS Productions, as filming has also started on Until Dawn’s movie, while work continues in earnest on The Last of Us’ second season, which is due in 2025. Which of these projects are you most looking forward to watching? Let us know in the comments section below.

I don't know if it counts as a "PS Productions" but Uncharted 2 feels like it should, whether it technically does or not, made by Sony based on the PS series, so that was my write in vote.

This was a fun show, actually not bad. I'll watch a 2nd season too.
I never played these games, but I knew a guy in college who twisted a nard.
He had to spend a week in hospital.
I never asked him how he did it. Some things you just don't want to know the answer to.
The first season of Twisted Metal was great though.
After TLOU tv show, this by far the best game to tv/movie I've watched, very funny,.decent acting fun action scenes and the teaser at the end of season 1 makes season 2 look brilliant
Highly recommend watching S1
Well done Twisted Metal. It got recommissioned so it can't have been as a bad as The Acolyte, which I find incredible. It's quite a skill to make a failure of the world's biggest sci-fi franchise.
Whilst Sony are in the mood, I'd really like a new series of Powers. Sharlto Copey was great in it, and the show itself was watchable.
@Frmknst I thought it was pretty good. Surprisingly so!
The show was so bad, but it managed to thread the needle just right so that it was still fun to watch. The "thong song" scene was so stupid and so ridiculous but I ended up laughing at it for like a minute straight.
It’s a solid show.
I said other only because you didn't give us an option for All, I enjoyed each show definitely apart from Until Dawn obviously because its not out yet. I enjoyed the game though.
I quite enjoyed season 1 despite i'm not a fan of the series and my knowledge are limited with TM 1 & 2 on PS1 which the only TM games that i ever played.
It's cool what they did with the show like how they introduced some characters, make their background story compelling, and then connected them one with the other as well the reason behind the tournament. But i wonder if they gonna touch the supernatural aspect or keep it grounded.
good show makie killed it. sweet tooth character killed it.
Never liked the games. But absolutely love the show! Emmy Nominated show to!
I literally forgot that there is such a thing as a Twisted Metal TV show
I just want the game man. i know twisted metal because of the games, i like twisted metal because of the games. twisted metal exists because of the games
@nomither6 To be honest, i don't see a new TM in this day and age can sell well. The 2012 reboot by David Jaffe only sold 1/2 million copies and Destruction AllStars which has the same "vehicle combat" concept like TM was a big flop. Outside TM and DAS, i can't think of recent "vehicle combat" games that sell well.
But some rumor said one of Sony 1st party studio are still working a new TM with 2025 release date. So who knows, maybe next year we will hear something about it...
@PuppetMaster pushsquare said the game was cancelled. i just don’t understand why a tv show would be successful and the game wouldn’t be, the series still has plenty of untapped potential & destruction all stars is a genuinely terrible game, and not what any TM fan wanted . the ps3 game had zero advertising , as i didn’t even know myself that the game existed until i saw it on ps now during the ps4 days, couple the fact that it was rushed and had some questionable decisions , i don’t think it’s a fair assessment
