SEGA has partnered with Limited Run for a special collector's edition of Sonic X Shadow Generations, the upcoming remaster of the beloved platformer, and it's laser-targeted to get fans all nostalgic. With a heavy emphasis on the Dreamcast, we've not seen something so perfectly aimed at editor Sammy Barker in a long time.
Announced today, the collector's edition is a premium physical version that comes with all kinds of neat extras. In addition to the game itself (a boxed copy, not a digital code), you'll receive the following:
- The Art of Sonic X Shadow Generations Art Book
- Official Soundtrack
- Sonic & Shadow Dreamcast Statue
- Commemorative Dreamcast Jewel Case
- SteelBook
- Chao Figurines
- Sonic, Shadow, & Classic Sonic Shoes Keychain
- Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity
The main attraction here is obviously that big statue, featuring Sonic and Shadow stood atop a model of SEGA's final console (and where Shadow debuted in Sonic Adventure 2). The inclusion of a Dreamcast jewel case is also a great touch, and we love the shoe keychain. If you fancy it, this collector's edition will set you back $249.99.
Pre-orders are live now and close on 6th October. The disc will ship between 25th October and 8th November, while the remainder of the collector's edition won't ship out until July 2025.

If only that Dreamcast was playable....
That statue would look nice next to my Sonic Mania Mega Drive Sonic Statue 😍
Shame its Limited Run again :/
@PocketHotDogs Wish they could do like a mini one they've had for the Genesis or Mega Drive, Game Gear. They've done those before. Same with the Saturn (if they haven't done it already).
I guess the problem would be demand.
How about a steelcase, soundtrack on CD and artbook cheaper and less mess.
@Flaming_Kaiser so true, this is sensory overload >.>
That model does look amazing and would look great next to my actual Dreamcast but it's a bit pricey for me, shame you can't buy it separately
I have the Xbox 360 sonic generations collectors edition still and it was actually pretty good for the price of £80 back then and also NOT LTD RUN. They have a monopoly on this stuff and need some competition coming in because their prices are ludicrous on some things.
I always thought that the Dreamcast looked like a playstation that had been blended with a Nintendo 64 🤔 😂
Not available everywhere and stupidly expensive what has happened to gaming 😑
Sigh FFS another nice looking collectors edition being done by the scummy turds of LRG, why can’t we get proper retail collector editions now Sega?
You did them for the original version of Sonic Generations which I have and absolutely love and also one for Sonic Mania.
Shame because the statue with the Dreamcast looks amazing
@Dampsponge
LRG has happened to most physical releases now it seems sadly
@Stale-Bread
Same it’s now ranges between around
£200-£300ish.
They did one for Sonic Mania as well which I never managed to get.
It’s sad that LRG have their hands on companies physical releases now though
Just pre ordered 6!
I want it, but don't want to pay for it. Awesome edition!
Damn, the Dreamcast statue looks awesome.
The shoe keychain is actually really cool. Shame everything is locked behind LRG since I wouldn't mind getting the keychain.
@TurboTom DreamStation 64
@PocketHotDogs it just shows they probably have the physical specs in a digital form where they could resize it for a dreamcast mini, if they ever get a SoC small and and cheap enough to emulate the console.
$250?!
These collectors editions are getting stupid expensive. If people only knew how cheap it is to make all that tat today.
I have spent too much money this year. This looks freaking cool though. If I could allocate anymore funds I would. I got a few games to still buy this year. Dam I want that statue so bad lol
$250 for $30 of tat, I'll pass.
@x3King84
Actually DreamStation sounds like a good name for the Ps6 lol
It's incredibly cool, but also incredibly sad where the "collector" market has gone that people will pay that much for this just because it's "limited." Licensing aside you could pick up a box of 100 plastic models like that on Aliexpress for like $20.
@TurboTom dreaming of actual games for it… still seems stunning to me that PS5 Pro is likely a thing when PS5 doesn’t have much that actually pushes it 4 years in. Although… maybe the Pro will come with new games… keep dreaming!!!
It's kind of sad that a major publisher like Sega has to partner up with another company to offer a physical release of a game that they're publishing (and developing).
Sign of the times I suppose.
As if the price wasn't enough of a deterrent, it's also made by Limited Run Games. Hard pass.
@x3King84
Yeah it has been a strange generation so far with lack of exciting new game releases. However I only got my ps5 around a year ago and there is quite a few games I have yet to purchase that are already out. So in a way I'm in no rush to see new stuff but looking forward to seeing what Sony has cooking though.
If they wanna make a dreamcast lid with sonic and shadow that i can put on my actual dreamcast, i'll buy that.
@Yousef- I bought a lot of these expensive big CE with massive boxes but when you get older you see that getting more useful stuff is better and cheaper. 😆
This looks very cool, but it's a no at that price!
