Whether you're a lover or a hater of the incredibly divisive Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, you've got to wonder why Square Enix has never remastered the whole thing and bundled the games together for modern consoles. Fans have been asking after a trilogy collection for years, but the three titles remain trapped on the PS3 to this day. The situation's even more bemusing when you remember that there are PC versions of each game, which were released all the way back in 2014 and 2015.
Anyway, this is one of those topics that pops up every now and then amongst fans of the franchise, but it's actually Square Enix itself that's incited the latest discussion. The publisher asked for Final Fantasy-related hot takes on social media, to which popular composer Alex Moukala replied: "Before any other FF title gets a remake, Final Fantasy 13 needs a remaster". A fair proposal.
However, it's Square Enix's follow-up that's raising eyebrows: "Any reason for a remaster instead of remake?"
Now, obviously, this kind of comment is going to get a reaction, and some people are already jumping to conclusions — the thought process being that the company just teased a Final Fantasy 13 remake.
To be fair, this is Square Enix we're talking about. Trying to predict its next move is often impossible, as it's jumped between countless questionable projects over the last decade or so. And this is especially true when Final Fantasy is involved.
The publisher is heavily rumoured to be working on a remake of Final Fantasy 9, and we know that the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is ticking along. Would a remake of Final Fantasy 13 really be that much of a surprise? If it's always been the plan, it would at least explain why the trilogy was never remastered and re-released.
But we're all clutching at straws here. As always, we'll just have to wait and see if anything comes of all this hubbub.
Would you play a Final Fantasy 13 remake? Or would you just settle for a remaster? Try your best to recall 13's story in the comments section below.

- Yes, I'd love a remake
- Yeah, I'd be interested
- Just give me a remaster
- Only if it was a big improvement on the original
- No, Final Fantasy 13 sucks

I liked FF13, but the linear set up really hurt it.
You just walked in a straight line in rectangular areas. The story wasn't bad in fairness but the whole linear nature of the game and lack of exploration really hurt it.
FF13 trilogy was probably the one FF series that leave the least amount of impact on me. I could barely remember anything about it.
I just want to be able to play the games again on PS5. The first one was fine, but the second is highly underrated. Never played the third but I'd love to try it out!
That would be cool actually, as I was considering playing the PS3 version later this year… but would put that on hold for a modern remake.
Just saying, I doubt a person running Square Enix's social media accounts has much knowledge about their upcoming projects.
I'd love a chance to play again but Square don't need to worry about a remake given their financial situation. Just make them playable on PS5 and I'll be happy.
"but the three titles remain trapped on the PS3 to this day"
I guess if you insist on only owning Sony hardware, then this statement is true. Otherwise, the entire trilogy is playable (and enhanced) on Xbox.
Game already looks fine. Give me a Parasite Eve 1+2 remake instead.
Oh my god this is the best thing I’ve heard for so long. I’m a lifelong FF fan and (unpopular opinion incoming) this is my favourite ever. Please let this happen the paradigm system is still my favourite battle system
Will it just be the first part ? Then 2nd part and 3rd part milk out that money?
Because it's really unlikely it will be all 3 in 1
I skipped this at the time, as I was a bit bored of series by then and felt like I had outgrown them. If a PS5 version become available it would be up for giving it a go. But would prefer they did IX first, as that one I didn't play either.
@Mikey856 paradigm system was awesome, best since ff10 sphere grid.
Paradigm was insanely powerful when you got the hang of it "(properly)
I played FF13 about 2 years ago on PC at 4K60fps. That game doesn't need a remake, it still looks very good
Unless they completely change up the linear design of the game
Ff13 IS great but it doesn't need a remake, only a port for PS4/5
Didn't interest me on PS3 but would definitely like to play them now! I hope is remasters and not remakes as remaking 3 games would takes years, probably spilling into the PS6 cycle!
Worst game in the series we had to deal with this bloody game and it's awful sequels for an entire console gen please just leave it buried where it belongs
@Buckeye4Life2015 I agree. I see no reason why digital versions of the original couldn’t be made available.
On Xbox Series X they can play FF13 in 4K/60fps but PS5 we can’t even play FF13 or its sequels. The Switch could also benefit from the FF13 games.
Square needs to sort it out. Hehe
The biggest problem with this game was the terrible execution of its story because it SHOULD have been a classic. All of the building blocks are there. But the script was just so darn repetitive to the point it was as if some child wrote it.
"We are L'Cie, enemies of Cocoon" repeated so, so, so many times as if we are all dumb as bricks and won't be able to get it otherwise.
At the moment XIII is the only final fantasy game not playable on current systems. I've been working my way through the pixel remasters and I'm loving them. Nearly done with VI then I'll carry on with VII. I'd be more than happy for a remaster but I think this is a bit of a money waster for a remake. Remake XII first. No wait do VI please!
@Uromastryx yeah it was a bit of a head blag at first but once you understood it it was absolutely brilliant! Chaining then all together was so spectacular even during low level mob fights. Wish they’d bring it back as an option in modern games but I guess that’s a tall ask lol
I would be all over that. Put it on xbox please!
My least favorite FF game. I just can't stand the characters and bantering in this game. Already tried replaying it several times but I just couldn't last for another hour or two with this game.
Well good luck for those wishing for this to be ported to modern consoles though. Will still be skipping the HD remaster if it ever does
@RubyCarbuncle FF16 is also linear as a straight rope ( but I enjoyed it) ....loved the XIII series too, think I'm the only one
@Perturbator oh yes!!!
@QiaraIris
Story summary: Fal'cie this, Fal'cie that.
@KingPev Actually I didn't mind FF XIII I kinda went on to really like the characters so that alone kept me interested. Haven't really played enough of FF16 yet but based on what I have played it seems more like an action hack n slash game than an RPG which I'm ok with. The Eikon fights are quite the spectacle too.
@RubyCarbuncle You're not exaggerating at all? I've never played 13(Only a teensy bit of Lightning Returns but a long time ago).
@Nepp67 Not at all FFXIII was very linear. Ok so not all areas were rectangular you did get some more open areas too but really most, almost all of the game involved walking from one end of the map to the other. There were no means to explore or grind levels either except to kill what monsters there were in that area.
Ff13 is the only final fantasy that I drop after playing it for 2-3 hours since I really don't like the characters, story, and the setting. I don't like mmo-lite ff like ff12, but I think I still prefer ff12 compared to ff13.
It does astonish me that, while my PS3 copies of the trilogy are locked to that system, I can play them on my Series X in higher resolution and with better load times.
That said, I would insta-buy a 13 collection for PS4/5 so I could have ALL of the mainline FF games on a single console, minus 11 because no.
Can't wait for the FF13 trilogy remake.

I’ll take whatever since I’ve never played them but I think other FF games deserve remake treatment first
Ohh, a Final Fantasy trilogy remake! This should be the holiday best seller of 2036! Please be excited.
@GamingFan4Lyf To be fair the PC version and the Xbox versions are jank AF. The framerate dips into the 20's with random stutters all the time. Looks pretty, runs awful. There's a series of mods out there that fix, or try to fix the PC versions. I think it works better for the base game than the sequels I've heard. One of the things it tries to do is not poll for hot-pluggable controllers like 100 times a second which apparently the game does.
Honestly they just need an official patch for the game to fix the brokennes rather than remakes or remasters. I doubt they can remaster it or fix it though because I think they lost Crystal Tools. Which is probably why the remake talk.
FWIW though with mods it plays pretty well on PC now. I need to get back to that if I can pull myself away from XIV and Live A Live to do it.
@RubyCarbuncle Jeez that sounds incredibly boring and on rails. I wouldn't mind a remake if it got more exploration similar to 16.
@KingPev I felt 16 could get away with it just because it was more about experimenting with your combos like DMC 5. Although it was rather too easy
A remake could actually be exactly what 13 needs. It had some great ideas with the Paradigm system. My biggest gripe with it was trying to pick exactly what you want to do while combat is happening. Scurrying around a menu mid-fight was difficult but if they could just maybe slow down time like FF7R does that would make a big difference.
I actually don't hate 13. I had a fun enough time with it. It's just not one of my favorites but a few simple quality of life updates like the one I listed above and that could change.
An actual re-imagining ala FF7 Remake could be okay.
But anything resembling XIII with better graphics? Please no. There's a reason a large percentage of the fanbase points to this entry as the one that sent the series into a downward spiral.
@Ralizah Yeah, but the visuals weren't the issue, far from it.
@Athrum FFXIII was a gorgeous game at launch, and, really, it'd hold up with some remastering. The music is nice, too. Not an all-time great, but I never shy away from XIII tracks in Theatrhythm.
It's literally everything else. The pacing, the level design, the at-times inscrutable terminology they bombard the player with almost immediately, the complete absence of meaningful exploration, really unlikable characters, etc. I'm also not a fan of the character designs, but really, you could take those designs and put them in an excellent game.
I know online fanbases often have a tendency toward revisionist history with widely hated entries after a while, but at least the first entry was never good.
Least favorite Final Fantasy by a wide margin. Remaster trilogy (if anything) and move on please.
Id love to see a FF10 and 12 remake over 13
This post is the highlight of my day, I hope it's in the works and we can get it soon, love this trilogy!
Uh, god no, why? Just release a remastered trilogy for modern consoles. A good remaster with additional QoL features is more than enough, these games still look perfectly fine despite their age.
Literally just remove Vanille or her absolutely, unrelentingly, hauntingly horrific voice from the game and I’m sold. The rest I grew to enjoy as a deviation, but my god…that voice…it still sends shivers down my spine and pain rings through my ears just thinking about it.
Omg! Would love a FF13 Remake! It will be another flop but sounds like fun. Love Lightning
Or remaster it with the FF7R combat that won't take untill 2190
It’s not my favorite Final Fantasy, but… I’m a sucker for the series and would very likely buy it anyway. I think Square knows 13 could’ve been better and I’d like to think they figured out how to do that.
I got bored of the linear structure in part one, how people managed to do it again for the sequels I'll never know. If they remake it to be more open world, I'm in.
It's an absolute crime that PS4 and PS5 gamers CAN'T play the FF13 trilogy because Sony are either too lazy or inept or a combo of both to figure out PS3 emulation / backward compatibility. Meanwhile on my Series X, there they are in my 360 game library...
@Flaming_Kaiser But then you might as well call it a remake if you completely change the combat system in the game.
I'd be all for a remake over a remaster. I'm a fan of the original (never played the other two in the series), but just remastering it would accomplish nothing. To fix the issues the game had with a lot of people, it would need to be remade. You can tell it's a PS3 game, but at the same time it looks solid already as is, so a remaster would be a waste of time.
Never played any of them, so a remastered trilogy would be very welcome. I would play it!!
A simple remaster of the trilogy would be fine. The big item i would change is the time clock on lightning returns. Needless to say just get these on modern playstation. One less game that i pull the xbox out for.
Make the 3 even more different with gameplay or make all 3 all have the same gameplay where you can change between 3 different systems on the fly.
Upgrade the graphics (no PS1 dog)/etc.
My vote is FF7 Remake-like remake being a big departure vs original or don't do anything imo.
They need to make some major improvements before I'd consider it.
No matter what you think of it, it's the only offline FF not playable on a new PlayStation and that's not right
Oh please no. FF13 was bad enough the first time through.
Remake? Well it would have to completely revamp the game to be worthwhile. But, knowing what comes after, why? So many better candidates for remakes in the series. Let 13 go. It's bad luck. 😂
Visually the game still holds up well so I don't think a remake is necessary. A remaster would be more than fine.
Wow what a coincidence. I just finished FF XIII on PS3 like two days ago after years in my backlog. I used to think it's a mediocre FF but after i finished the game, i appreciate it more and it's actually a pretty solid FF.
Sure chapter 1-9 are quite linear but that keep the story focus at Lightning group like their background story, the progress how they cast aside their differrents and agreed with one goal since all of them are not friends / strangers and has different motivation, while introducing the world lore like Fal Cie / L'Cie / Cocoon etc. It feels similar to FF X which i and many people loves it btw, and it's quite linear when comes to story progression and exploration where the map or dungeon has plenty of straight line / hallway until some point in the story.
But with chapter 10 when the group arrived at Gran Pulse, the map became a lot bigger and you're quite free to explore including doing side quest that has some nice rewards not just items but they add some new info to the lore.
As for a remake, honestly that's not necessary since the graphic still looks good. I don't think the story, gameplay, and music needs a change either. Maybe a remaster but in my 50+ hours of playing time i don't experience any frame drop or nasty glitches.
my first ff so ill always love it, 13 is awesome and is still the best looking FF game aesthetically. and i love the soundtrack too
@Perturbator Oh yes this 🤝
But i don't know if SE still has Parasite Eve license...
Also, i would love a remaster of Vagrant Story. The game is a frickin masterpiece. Salute to Yasumi Matsuno, he's a genius 🙇♂️
@SleeplessKnight It's easy to point at Sony and call them lazy or inept because they haven't figured out PS3 emulation but the simple truth is that the PS3's architecture was just so bonkers that it makes efficient emulation a nightmare. Even modern high-end PCs can't brute force their way to acceptable performance in all PS3 games, despite the emulation community's best efforts.
Obviously Sony's developers are better placed to know the ins and outs of the PS3, but is it worth the significant resource commitment that it would take to build a proper emulator that would support the majority of the PS3's library? Almost certainly not, or at least not on PS5 hardware yet.
@NEStalgia FF13 and the sequels play wonderfully on Series X via backwards compatibility, and I can attest to this. They did some nice enhancements under the hood, higher resolution and such. Just wish we could get the same treatment on the PS side.
Ffunion has done a big video detailing the creation of ff 13 and all the problems it faced and how the story was butchered and how the sequels suffered for it so I believe it would need a remake to fix things 😀
There are games I love, games I enjoy, games I don't like much, and then there is FF13. I've been playing videogames since 1999 and FF13 is the only game I ever returned to the store for something else due to how awful it was.
I can't quite define what killed it for me, but it simply was no fun at all. The fact that it was named Final Fantasy which adds expectations didn't help.
Weird. Thought about this game today and that ai would like to try it at some point.
FF13 is the first mainline Final Fantasy I actually beat.
It is also by far my least favorite, to the point I have never successfully gone back to it for more than an hour.
FF13 had so much potential. In a perfect world, I would like to see it get redeemed through a remake that completely redesigns much of the game. In a realistic world though, this would be a huge undertaking and I would rather the resources be used for something else. There are plenty of other FF games better deserving of remakes, and plenty of space for completely new games and spin-offs.
FF13 has too much baggage. Better to just leave it be...
Honestly I think final fantasy 13 is the worst game I’ve ever spent more than a couple hours playing. I tried, I really did. The world seemed cool but the straight path, the voice acting, the battle system none of it was working for me
Please no, just remaster the FF13 games and call it a day.
If FF13 gets a 'remake' then it would be nice to add in the cut content like Fal'Cie Diablos or Ramuh who sits in a mountain and maybe areas too like Lightning's house to be explorable and many others that were just backdrops..
@kuu_nousee Gameplay of Lightning Returns won't work on FF13 and 13-2 as it is a bit more action oriented, maybe they could allow character swapping for FF13 as you can only do that outside of battle and perhaps allow for control of other party members especially when the leader dies and its instant game over.
@KilloWertz not really sure if they would ever bother on a remaster BUT it'd be nice to include the content they cut to be added in especially that Seventh Ark which was unearthed on the Steam release.. or hell add in the cut Fal'Cie like Diablos/Ramuh and other areas. Here's to hoping.
@kuu_nousee Why not make FF17 instead?
FF Xiii remake has just been announced!
Personally I love FF13, The paradigm battle system was a great version of turn based with more depth and I didn't even mind the characters. FF13-2 was a bit meh as the time travel stuff just never clicked with me, and I have not played LR as my PS3 died. I would say 13 is no more linear than most other final fantasy games as they only offer the illusion of freedom rather than actual freedom. I went through FF9 again recently and the map is very linear for a large majority of the game. People just remember them being far more openworld than they actually are.
For me the worst game in the series is easily FF12 as the game plays itself due to the gambit system and the world just lacked that spark which made it feel like a FF game.
Exciting if this does happen. I loved the XIII trilogy especially XIII-2.
Gamescom is next week so see what we get announced there plus there’s the FFIX remake rumour that I hope turns out to be true too
the battle systm was fantastic. the writing and characters were often lacking, but i still enjoyed my time with the first game in the trilogy (have yet to play the sequels). we absolutely do not need REMAKES of ps3 era games though... the graphics and fidelity are still impressive even to this day. REMASTER the trilogy in 4K/60 and it will be amazing.
resources should go to games that actually require a REMAKE due to their age such as parasite eve, xenogears, vagrant story etc. the idea of REMAKING hd era games is unfounded.
Arrr Final Fantasy 13 Corridor Shooter till your finally set free in the world map
May be in the minority here but I love this game, XIII-2 was better and Lightning Returns I struggle with, keep trying and can't get into it.
Would still buy them if remade or remastered, remade would be better since they could remove the linearity from it. Before all that though, I would ask for FF9 remake or FF8 at a push
Lightning > Clive.
Before bothering with a remake, we at least need the original versions in remastered form on PS4/5 and Switch.
@dskatter But the stutters! I bought it on X1X the day they announced it was available back on, what was that, 2018? (Only for them to put it on deep sale a week later...) And it looked beautiful except for the constant random frame drops and stutters. Then I tried it again when XSX launched thinking it would brute force it....nope same stutters and deep frame dips. I figured it was just the limits of the emulation for 360 in play. Then I bought the PC version, and OMFG the same stutters and frame drops, or worse, for a PS3 game!! That's when I realized it's the game itself that's broken (and found PC patches that mostly do fix it, but at some costs to stability and even that's not a 100% fix.)
In the era of remakes that nobody needs, XIII is one game that legit could benefit from it because the game as-is has serious technical problems, and if they did loose the source to the tools, the remake is the only way fix it.
@NEStalgia I…haven’t seen a single hint of stutters in my FF13 playthru on my series X. I haven’t left Cocoon yet, but everything has been smooth to my eyes.
I’ll get back to it this weekend (damn Dawntrail!) and look more closely, but I’ve been very satisfied with the performance.
@dskatter Maybe you're not sensitive to FPS drops into the 20s and hitchy stutters? Either that or they fixed it though that seems unlikely because they hadn't fixed it between the OG X1X launch and the XSX launch though I admit I haven't tried it since then, so it's possible, but also probably not possible because IIRC the source was lost long ago, and, even the newer native PC version has the same problems unmodded.
LOL, I hear you on XIV though, that's consumed all my gaming time completely!
If Square Enix devotes resources to a Final Fantasy XIII remake then this world is truly lost.
@NEStalgia It’s possible…I definitely notice frame drops in general, but in a game like this they don’t bother me too much. Plus the original PS3 versions didn’t exactly run at full 60fps anyway, so I can tolerate things like that without being too bothered or even noticing much! It’s still a VERY purty game.
FF14: I’m at 100 with NIN, VPR, PIC, BLM, and BRD so far, with all my crafters and gatherers at 100 except fishing because I hate fishing.
@dskatter Yeah for me, I'm someone that can tell 30 from 40 fps easy so it drives me crazy! Though XIII at least the last time I played it on XB and also PC has more than only frame drop issues, the stuttering is actual seemingly random choppiness, not just fps but actual animation hitches. I know on the PC version part of the problem is that polling for USB devices I mentioned, that was a big part of it (and amazingly sloppy to release like that and never fix it) but I assume console versions don't have that same problem.
The TL;DR is simply that Crystal Tools may be the worst engine ever made, even if it looks pretty nice...and is also the reason XIV originally was DOA before ARR!
Oh man that's a lot of grinding in XIV, I'm bringing up BLM (my main main), SCH (in actuality my main main for group content because 20 min waits become 1 minute waits and being healer is fun), and GNB (because it pays to have a tank in the rotation, plus BLM gets butchered in open exploration without sucking down potions or traveling with a healer) and even that gets painful to keep it all leveled and equipped! Can't imagine a list that large. I haven't even touched the crafting trades. Though I'm jealous because I'd love to play ALL the classes lol!
I liked the original FF13, but there's no denying that it got a bit boring with all the walking in a straight line. It was at least 20 hours too long for me. Preferred it when it opened up.
It still looks great to my eyes - a 4k remaster is all it needs.
@Ainu20 I get the fact the PS3 has a complicated architecture, however Sony has had over a decade to figure it out, so I'm not giving them a free pass on this one. And I'm primarily a PlayStation guy.
And as far as whether it's worth it for Sony or not? Absolutely it is! Do you know how much $$ Microsoft makes on 360 games on the Xbox one and Series consoles? Now take PlayStation's MUCH larger userbase buying PS3 games? It's a no-brainer for them to get it figured out ASAP!
@SleeplessKnight No, admittedly I have no idea how much MS still makes on 360 games. I'd love to see verifiable numbers on that, but for now I'm going to be extremely skeptical that it's more than a footnote in their financial reports, and I can't imagine it being much better on Playstation.
I would prefer a remake on 8 and 9 first, coz I haven't played those. 13 was my first FF game, so yeah I'd like a remake one day, but not before 8 and 9.
Skip 13 and go to straight 13-2. I don't wanna go through that boring story again.
@Ainu20 I also do not have any verifiable numbers. What I do have is my own observations when checking the Xbox Store during sales and looking under Top Selling games and seeing a lot of 360 games in those lists. Sure some of them are on sale for $3.99 but that's still a sale that Sony are NOT getting on PS4 or PS5.
Cries as a FF8 fan lol
It's a fair game for sure. I got to about the big boss on the airship for disk 2 on 360, not come across a PS3 copy. I thought it was fine. The linear nature had it's moments but for combat stopping yeah it wasn't great at all.
I selected 'big improvement' but would also say 'yes interested'. Remaster I mean the game design is what it is so it's going to stick out compared to other games even if old school and those with a 360 copy have access to it anyway on Xbox One/Series anyway but of course messaging and on any platforms matters more than availability of course as many won't bother to seek out a PS3/360 copy anyways over others that will or still have their old copies on them.
I enjoyed my time with it even if not finished the series much. I think if they do a FF13 7 remake trilogy splitting it would be hmm not great. But then again the series is 3 games anyway and doesn't need a LOT of expansion or milking in a 7 remake trilogy way at all. Just enough to make level design better, tweak story somewhat if need be, combat needs more than menus as to me I found it too dull at times.
But surprised not other entries. Why 13? The game design sure but the story/visuals are still fair even now in some parts of the art direction. Music changes would be disappointing too as it's still good.
Let alone other series Square hasn't bothered to remaster instead either. SNES series have sure but why not other PS1/2/other systems series not just FF & going we need to remake many of them. Many are on mainline/spinoffs/sub series are on modern platforms anyways? Even then 13 is more recent then others & even then while more well known so maybe more sales or eyes on it/nostalgia I do question it still.
I don't mind 'bad' games getting a remake/a second chance but the problem is people and a reputation do stay around because people don't think anything can get better when times are different now. Like Enter the Dragonfly for Spyro could be remade but no one cares enough for that to happen even though it had fair ideas and it was just bad management/staff (or was their first game or something) as interviews from Mr F01 have shown. I'm open to it but audiences don't care. First impression is made and stuck with them.
But I'm open to bad games in big series or even niche series pushing their mechanics to modern platforms. Or just playing the old games on old systems if that's the only way to play them.
The cooridors felt like just running on vines to places no matter where you were whatever ice or city or whatever.
Some locations look really nice and some spaces of a bit of breathing room besides the more 'this area to this secret to this bridge/vine/connector'.
Like it had moments. The story is fair, Chocobo park/theme park or whatever it was, was cool. The cities/ice area was good looking not exactly the best level design though.
Music was really great especially the more calm tracks are my favourite in the beginning areas.
The combat to me was very dull. I don't mind turn based combat but to me I can take more Eternal Sonata/Neptunia style or Conception with the 4 sides around an enemy then menu selection. But FF13 to me was just really not that great. Lightning Returns combat with movement and menu selection was a bit better. But then again even Xenoblade (can't say the main series only X) the movement and hits were quite annoying.
Part 2
Sometimes just running in and out of areas or using potions/party member support abilities buffs and more only did so much so got pretty boring for the most part. But I powered through. The auto feature doesn't help that much really either so I went manual and tried to learn it as best I could.
But yeah many times even though I didn't grind much which I should have but I was still new to JRPGs in a way then so how I got to the boss in Chapter 9 is beyond me. I need to grind for the enemy on that airship before the boss and that's where I left my save file.
2 is probably better but didn't get into it that much and Lightning Return definitely does a much better job and while having it's own fair ideas is something I enjoy about the game but also the time limit/what you can do while cool does become more annoying then say a Pikmin where you have more of an idea of the area, while a more timed detective game FF Lightning Returns feels can be a bit annoying.
@SuntannedDuck2 "I was still new to JRPGs in a way then so how I got to the boss in Chapter 9 is beyond me. I need to grind for the enemy on that airship before the boss and that's where I left my save file"
I beat chapter 9 boss without grinding. I used Fortisol & Aegisol before the battle which cast Haste, Protect, Shell, Bravery, or every buff for my team.
My paradigm are Medic/Medic/Sentinel, Ravager/Ravager or Commando/Ravager, and Medic/Synergist/Saboteur.
When the battle begins, quickly cast Libra to see his resistance / elemental weakness. Then focus on debuff & kill the boss left and right part. After beaten those part, all you need to do is:
Rinse and repeat and you will kill him in less than 10-15 minutes.
@Ralizah I’m currently doing a platinum run running on PS3 and it actually holds up on its own not even joking. Love that game! Lightning was sick
FF XIII needs a remaster, not a remake. The game spent 5 years in development for PS3, god only knows how long a PS5 remake would take when FF VII Remake took 5 years on PS4 and FFXVI was in development for nearly 8 years. I'd rather get a FFVII Remake style remake for FF VIII than for FFXIII.
honestly i'd be happy with a cleaned up pc version on ps5. a remake would be pretty cool, but i don't think it would be needed. i think this game had gotten too much hate , but people also missed out on some good games, ff13 pt3 was great. if they could do 60 fps cleaned up vissuals it would be fantastic.
@PuppetMaster Thanks.
Stagger I got a few times from memory and I had revealed the weakness multiple times and vaguely remember using certain support or certain attacks i knew worked (might check my party to be sure too who I had assigned as well) but I was just so weak or the amount of times it'd get a chance I just wasn't powerful enough (or yes party members selected) to do it or the stats were more in the boss favour then mine.
I think I was just away from a few other stagger chances or just not smart enough or not doing enough of an effect on them support to my party, effecting them or general damage. I can't remember.
I'd have to boot it up again and check it was years ago. Still have the game on my shelf of course I don't really sell games much (not nowadays as much anyway) and can put it in my 360 any time and still boot up my save file. Disk should still work.
Believe it when I see it
