Well, that didn’t take long, did it? Following its announcement for PS5 at Summer Game Fest, Riot Games launched a closed beta for Valorant that’s been running for several weeks now. That very same online test entered open beta last week, and now the game’s officially released. If you want to play the hero shooter, have at it – it’s free for everyone to download from today.
Valorant has been available on PC for several years now, but the developer is hoping to attract an entirely new audience with this console release. The free-to-play affair, which features a growing roster of characters all with different moves and abilities, is considered a compelling alternative to the likes of Overwatch 2.

Great news for Concord lmao
This game is far harder to play than usual hero shooters, if you try to run around shooting you will die quickly. More like Counterstrike. I wouldnt compare Valorant to those games to be honest.
Another free to play Hero Shooter launches on PlayStation, and just a few weeks before Concord and its $40 price tag. Ouch.
Also, the characters in that image for Valorant look much better than the entire Concord cast.

Tried it but really struggled with it so i gave up.

@SmileMan64 It’s even seems malicious lmao, the game had already zero chances at success, but yet another hero shooter dropping mere weeks before and being free-to-play opposed to a $40 release with PS+ requirement is even comical at this point.
And tbf, having played both Concord actually plays better in my short experience, but I wouldn’t play neither constantly.
Been playing since the beta was available here in Brazil. It's hard af to master and you'll lose a lot if you're solo, but i can't deny it's fun. The only free to play game that i have on my PS5.

Excellent game. More tactical and actually requires skill to kill. I was fortunate enough to get in on the closed beta and have put nearly 50 hours on it with plenty more to come.
@IOI To add to the comedy, Overwatch 2's new hero, Juno, releases just a few days after Concord. It seems the Universe itself wants Concord to fail.

OW is not that dead, though. Around the time of the Concord Open Beta, Overwatch 2 had around 28,000 players just on Steam. Add players from other platforms (PC Launchers, Consoles) and OW2, despite all the controversies, remains pretty active.
