While there are many things to love about God of War Ragnarok, one area that draws ire from players is how often your companions chime in to help with puzzles. Kratos is nearly always with an ally during his quest, and when you come to a brainteaser, the game can sometimes feel as though it doesn't give you the space to work it out yourself. Well, it sounds like the devs have listened to this feedback.
An option to reduce puzzle hints debuts within God of War Ragnarok's PC version, which launches today on Steam and Epic Game Store. On the PS Blog, Santa Monica Studio's Grace Orlady goes over some new features in this release, including the aforementioned option to decrease your companion's puzzle chatter. This option will be coming to the PS5 and PS4 versions of Ragnarok "soon", too.
On top of that is a new option for audio description during cut-scenes. "These descriptions will provide additional contextual information alongside the spoken dialogue to create a more detailed experience for players with low vision," the PS Blog reads. Again, this feature will be added to the console versions in an update.
Good news all-round, then — and perhaps a sign that this option will be included in future games by default. Are you pleased to see these additions to God of War Ragnarok? Give us a clue in the comments section below.

Thank god, I was waiting for this QOL improvement.
Funny how that should be the other way around, but I've traded in my copy a long time ago. GoW is a one and done type of deal for me, especially with Ragnarok and its Atreus sections.
I've got four kids and have important dialog segments in games interrupted quite often - these type of dialog options are welcomed addition by me, for sure. Haha
Finally, as someone who loves puzzles in video games those hints (which sometimes they give you after just a few seconds) sadly really ruined the game for me
Kinda surprising that it took them almost two years to implement this but I guess better later than never
I'm the opposite. I absolutely hate puzzles and sigh whenever I come across one in games. Even if it's easy. I just don't enjoy them at all.
Much needed and waaaaay too late. I remember times I'm getting hints of a puzzle before I even realize I have a puzzle to solve
Good i haven't started it yet.
Took long enough, pc side had to make them do it, shame.
Personally I didn't care too that much about the hints. It was slightly annoying to me. My problem is that the puzzles sucked and helped bring down the game.
Common PC W. Lol
Almost time to play the game I guess.
I think it's on sale now for $40, may be behind the PS+ paywall, if anyone besides me hasn't played it yet.
Maybe this is the year I finally get the Black Friday price I've been waiting for?
A very welcome improvement! Good on them for implementing a fix as it was very egregious back at launch. Now if we can just get a "Skip Atreus Sections" option then Ragnarok would be even better!
Should have been in the game when it originally launched on PS5.
Thing is, if Santa Monica didn't add it into the PC release, modders would have done it themselves. They did it with Aloy in both Horizon PC releases.
Never had an issue with characters telling me how to solve a puzzle 😂. Being dumb as f**k I'd rather know how to solve the puzzle as quickly as possible, instead of resorting to Gamefaqs and YouTube guides ðŸ˜
"These descriptions will provide additional contextual information alongside the spoken dialogue to create a more detailed experience for players with low vision."
I'm all for accessibility features in general, but this one confuses me. How many players could a video game possibly have that can see well enough to play the game but not well enough to understand the cutscenes? Seriously, I'm not mocking anybody, I just don't get it.
If this is an actual on and off toggle I might actually buy the game again (used, or heavily discounted) and give it another go. I don't know what they smoked but whoever decided the "time limit" to get a puzzle yourself should be minus ten seconds hopefully gets to work on other things next time.
The game is great but if for whatever reason you were holding back on playing it before now, take FULL advantage of this asap.
I hate companions in these games.
They just never stop talking, or pointing out obvious things. And everytime you wanna explore, "No, this way, where are you going?"...
Kratos did just fine, going solo, in the PS2/PS3/PSP games.
I wish you could just kick the kid off a cliff.
